Chapter Text
TRIGGER WARNING: This chapter contains suicide.
I'm still going to use Korean age since that was still active at the time of Weak Hero's publication.
On October 24, 2018, the Han River Battle between the Union and Eunjang occurred. In the end, the King of Yeongdeungpo, Donald Na, still reigned undefeated. It was also on that day that Donald Na was struck by a truck and killed.
Kingsley Kwan was heartbroken over his boyfriend's death. He tried to continue Donald's legacy and attempted to continue the Union without him, despite Jake telling him that Donald had actually wanted to stop. Kingsley managed to rebuild the foundation and even managed to recruit Wolf Keum again, but it was never the same.
Kingsley could never recreate Donald's Union. Donald Na was the Union. Without Donald, there was no Union. After a few months of struggling, Kingsley let the Union completely dissolve. He gave up and allowed himself to give into his grief. He could no longer live in a world without Donald. In the end, Kingsley Kwan was found dead in his apartment, having intentionally overdosed on sleeping pills.
It was Jake who had taken care of the funeral. Unlike Donald's funeral, most of the Union didn't attend. Most of them didn't respect or care for Kingsley as much as they had Donald. It was mainly Daehyeon that attended, although Ben did also attend too. Jake managed to purchase the niche to the right of Donald's so that the two would always be together.

On December 24, 2024, Donald Na was reborn...as Donald Na. Yes, he was reborn and given the same name as his previous life. His mother was the reincarnated Sua Lee too, although both she and her son lacked the memories of their past lives.
Donald's father, Dohun Na, was also present in this life...until he tragically passed away in a car accident when Donald was five years old. At least in this life, Donald actually knew his biological father and had happy memories with him compared to the shitty abuse he suffered under his stepfather's reign in the previous life.
Dohun's ashes were coincidentally stored in the same columbarium as the previous Donald Na and Sua Lee, although in the completely opposite side of the building which was why they never once saw their own ashes.
Despite Donald losing his father and Sua losing her husband, they still lived a relatively happy life. Sua ran the coffee shop, Choco Latte, that she had opened up with her husband. Business was decent and all the bills were paid. The mother and son weren't struggling to survive like they had in their previous life.
In their new life, they always had three meals a day. In their new life, they had new, clean clothes. In their new life, Sua could afford to splurge on some snacks and toys for her son. In their new life, Donald could actually be a child like everyone else.
When Donald was sixteen years old and in his final year of middle school, his mother fell incredibly ill and had to be hospitalized at Yeouido Hospital.
"Are you Sua Lee's son?" The doctor stopped a couple feet away from Donald and stared at him with wide eyes.
"Yes, I'm Donald Na," Donald nodded. He was confused by the doctor's shocked expression but was more worried about his mother's health.
The doctor's eyes widened even more upon hearing Donald's name. After a few seconds, he managed to regain his composure. "I'm Dr. Gray Yeon," The doctor introduced himself. "There is a treatment for your mother's illness with a high success rate,"
"How...how much does it cost?" Donald knew that it'd most likely be expensive. They had money saved up for emergencies, but he would need to adjust their monthly budgets. Depending on exactly how tight their budget would become, Donald was considering dropping out to work full time. They might even need to sell Choco Latte.
"You could apply for financial help from the Warm Smiles Foundation," Gray informed.
"Warm Smiles Foundation?" Donald inquired.
"It's a charity founded by my friend, Stephen Ahn, to help pay the hospital bills of those that struggle to afford it," Gray explained. "Would you like me to submit a request form?"
"Yes, please," Donald nodded. "That would be a great help,"
Gray headed to his office and once he shut the door, he finally let his mask slip. His hands trembled and he collapsed into his chair. 'That boy has the same name and the exact same appearance as Donald Na, except for his tattoos and piercings,'
He took a deep breath and grabbed his water bottle, shakily taking a few sips. The memories of the day of the incident flashed in his mind as fresh as the day it had occurred. He could still remember seeing Donald getting struck by the truck.
He remembered how much blood had poured from Donald's wounds, especially his head wound. He remembered how the blood had stained his clothes as he desperately attempted to stop the bleeding until the ambulance could arrive.
'He didn't seem to recognize me,' Gray recalled. 'And the manner he spoke with...it's nothing like the Donald Na that was known throughout Yeongdeungpo. He didn't seem as confident as the late Donald Na. His behavior is completely different,'
"What am I thinking?" Gray sighed. "He can't be Donald Na. Donald died right in front of my eyes. Ben attended his funeral and I visited his ashes," 'There was no mention that Donald had any illegitimate children. The only relationship mentioned when I was researching about him in had been him dating Kingsley Kwan. Could it possibly be the child of a long lost sibling or relative? There have been cases of children resembling aunts, uncles, and grandparents more than they resemble their parents,'
'Reincarnation and rebirth...' Gray remembered learning about that topic in school. 'I know that there are some religions that believe in reincarnation and rebirth. Although there has been no scientific evidence, I can't rule it out as a possibility for this coincidence,'
Gray shook his head. Whether that boy was somehow the same Donald Na or not, Gray would still remain professional and treat him as he would any other patient or patient's relative. He would not allow any personal feelings to interfere with his work.

I killed Donald's bio dad off because I really didn't feel like writing him.
Kingsley's a famous teen actor but he's in the US.
