Rich Boy X Bodyguard

Summary:

After his mother passed away, Donald met his biological father, Dohun Na, for the first time and his life took a 180° turn. He now had a loving father and even a loving stepmother. He also had a nice younger half-brother, Gray Yeon.

Concerned for his son's safety, Dad Na hired a bodyguard, Kingsley Kwan, to protect his son.

Chapter Text

Dohun Na entered the hospital. A few hours ago, he had received a phone call from one of the nurses who had noticed that his name was the tertiary emergency contact on a boy's account. To his knowledge, the only boy that should've had him as an emergency contact was his son, Gray Yeon, and Gray was definitely not in the hospital.

Dohun followed the nurse to the morgue, where a twelve year old boy wailed near the covered corpse of someone dear to him. "What's his name?" Dohun asked the nurse.

"Donald Na," The nurse informed. "The person who passed away was his mother. We tried calling his stepfather, but it turns out that his stepfather ran off with his wife's insurance money and completely abandoned the poor boy,"

'Na,' Dohun nervously gulped. 'His last name is Na. His mother gave him my last name,'

The nurse was called away to assist a coworker, leaving Dohun standing in the entrance alone. From afar, Dohun could see that the boy had platinum blonde hair and pale skin. There was only one woman he had ever loved that had that same shade of hair and skin tone.

Dohun quietly walked over to the boy's side. The boy didn't seem to notice him as he continued to wail loudly. Dohun's heart broke at the obvious pain and sorrow in the boy's cries. Dohun knelt down and brought the boy into a tight hug.

Donald was startled by the sudden warmth of a stranger. No adult had ever tried to help him before. Even though he showed up to school with obvious signs of abuse and malnourishment, the teachers and staff at Yeowon Elementary School didn't care to report it to CPS. When other students bullied him, the teachers and staff simply turned a blind eye.

For fuck's sake, his homeroom teacher had purposefully let his mother stay in the freezing morgue for two whole days without informing Donald, knowing that the news of his mother's death would cause him to fail the retest!

Donald didn't know who the man hugging him was. This stranger had shown him more warmth and pity than all of the other adults in his life besides his mother. Donald hated being vulnerable in front of people but right now he was so broken. Right now, he craved the warmth and affection that his mother would no longer be able to give.

"I'm sorry," Dohun glanced over at Sua's pale and lifeless face. "I'm so sorry," He hugged Donald closer and tighter. "I should've come sooner,"

Dohun noted how thin and malnourished Donald obviously was. He noticed how the boy, his son, had bruises all over. He noticed how the clothing his son wore were all dirty, ragged, and worn out. Rage filled him when he recalled that the nurse had told him that Donald's stepfather had ran off with Sua's life insurance money. Donald's stepfather must've been the cause for all their pain and suffering.

'I was Donald's tertiary emergency contact,' Dohun thought. 'Sua must've known that I definitely would've come if someone contacted me about Donald. If I had known she was pregnant back then, I would have never broken up with her,'

Sua's body had been taken away to the crematorium. Donald sat on a bench in the hallway, holding Sua's framed photo close to him. His eyes were dull and lifeless. Nothing mattered to him anymore. His mother had been his entire world. She was the entire reason that he had endured everything the world had thrown at him. Now, she was gone. Now, he has lost his entire world.

"Here," Dohun offered Donald a sandwich, some chips, and a bottle of juice. "You should eat something or at least drink some of the juice,"

"Who are you?" Donald asked, finally looking up to face the stranger.

"My name is Dohun Na," Dohun introduced himself. "I'm..." He had to take a deep breath. "I'm your father,"

Donald stared at the man with wide eyes. This man was his father. His father. His father. His father. His father! His father! His father! HIS FATHER! HIS FATHER! HIS FATHER! THIS MAN WAS HIS FUCKING FATHER!

Donald punched him in the stomach with all of his strength. Dohun seemed unaffected but Donald continued to punch him multiple times. "If you're my father, then where the fuck were you!? Where the fuck have you been all these years!?"

"Donald—"

"Where the fuck were you!?" Donald screamed. "Where the fuck where you when Mom got sick!? Where the fuck were you when that asshole constantly beat us up! Where the fuck were you when Mom died!?"

"I'm sorry," Dohun apologized and allowed his son to let out all his anger in his flurry of punches. It's not like the punches would do much damage to him anyway.

"Sorry? You're sorry!?" Donald yelled. "Sorry won't bring Mom back! Sorry won't undo the years of pain and suffering we've been through!" He fell to his knees and sobbed as he clutches at Dohun's sleeves. "Where were you when Mom and I both needed you?"

Dohun once again brought Donald into a hug. "I didn't know. I didn't know she was pregnant when we broke up. She never told me about you. She never tried to contact me,"

"Then why are you here now?" Donald asked. "How did you find out about me?"

"She listed me as your tertiary emergency contact," Dohun informed. "I was confused when I received a phone call from this hospital. I think she realized that I would take you in because her husband was a terrible person,"

"He was," Donald nodded. "He wasn't always bad. When Mom first met him, he was nice. It's why Mom fell for him. Even after they got married...he was nice," It pained Donald to think of those times. It reminded him of how he and his mother had been fooled by the wolf in sheep's clothing. "He...he started to gamble and drink a lot. That's when he became bad,"

"I know I won't ever be able to change the past or make up for never being there for you when you needed me most," Dohun said. "But I'd like to start being the dad I should've been to you,"

Donald knew his only option was to go with this man. Even if he ran away right now and chose to live in the streets, he could tell that this man really did care about him. He would probably filed a missing person report and Donald would constantly be struggling to avoid being found.

Donald didn't want to just give up on life. He wanted to continue surviving in the cruel world. He wanted to one day get revenge against the people who have wronged him. He'll take advantage of anything to help him reach his goal.
