Work Text:
Viktor was sitting at the top of the hill at The Burrow, holding Dara tightly as he watched George come over with trepidation. "You are sure this is safe?" he asked George pointedly.
George just laughed as he came closer and clapped Viktor on the shoulder. Of course, we did extensive tests before we let any of the nippers near them. Fred Jr. and James -Sirius love them, " he said proudly.
Viktor just grunted. "I love my nephews, George. I even like you, but you, Harry, and your boys are bonkers." Viktor said with a fond laugh. Of all his in-laws, Viktor could honestly say George and Harry were his favourites, not least because of all the support they had given Percy when Viktor wasn't around to do so.
George just threw his head back and laughed loudly, causing Harry to jog over. Viktor laughed at how nosy Harry still was. He had heard all about his childhood exploits, having been involved in one with him, and even now Harry sniffed out the best gossip and scandals. Unlike people like that evil Skeeter woman, Harry would never use it against people. He was too good for that.
"Dara!" Harry exclaimed happily as he rushed over. Grabbing her from Viktor's arms and giving her kisses all over her little face as she laughed and tried to do it back.
"Uncle Harry, stop." She cried out, laughing as she batted him away. Harry just threw her in the air and caught her amidst her delighted squeals.
Viktor pulled himself up from the contraption now that Dara wasn't shouting about her turn. "If Percy catches you doing that, I am not rescuing you," Viktor said.
Harry just laughed more. "There's a reason we wait until he's not around. He's a bit overprotective." Harry continued.
Viktor couldn't help the snort he let out. "I remember you with Fred Jr. I remember how you didn't sleep for 2 weeks after he was born. You don't get to say anything about Percy's overprotective tendencies," he said.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever. Now, Miss Krumova, are you ready for your turn?" He asked her, waving Viktor off as he sat down with her in his lap, strapping them both in with magic and adding extra cushioning charms to her and a protego as an added precaution.
"It's fine, Vik; I solemnly swear we have done every test imaginable. These sleds are safer than even the slow muggle ones. They have protective charms inside, speed control and cushioning protection for any crashes that are unlikely to happen. You know we wouldn't put any kid, least of all one of ours, in danger." George said as he watched Viktor fret.
Viktors' worry soon faded as he watched Harry set off, an excitedly screaming Dara in his arms. He watched as her small face lit up with joy and happiness like she was flying but on the ground. She had been pressuring Percy to allow her on a broom at the grand old age of three, "nearly 4 daddy", but Percy had been adamant she would wait until she was 5. Viktor realised they would lose the battle now she'd had a taste of moving through the air on a broom-modified sled.
Harry apparated himself, Dara, and the sled to the top of the hill. She all but launched herself out of Harry's arms and into Viktor's. "Tati, did you see? Did you see? I flewed on the ground. Like you do in the sky. Did you see Tati? Did you see?" she asked, bouncing in his arms.
Viktor just grinned at his baby, happily chatting away in his arms. He would face Percy later when he returned with one of the Wheeze's child-sized brooms, possibly getting a discount because it was all Harry's fault. And if Percy wanted to blow up about the whole thing, he would send him to them and laugh at the memory later.
Harry looked at Viktor and the semi nasty smile on his face. "What?" he asked, slightly concerned.
"This is your fault; Percy shall know it is, too," he said with a sharp grin at his brother-in-law as he walked away, with Dara still chattering in his arms.
Harry looked at George and ran after Viktor. "Wait, Viktor, wait, don't throw me under the hippogriff," he called, chasing after Viktor with George's cheerful laugh and following them back into The Burrow.
