He had assumed, when he realised he was in love, that he had plenty of time to work past the initial awkwardness of realising it to get the chance to ask her on dates, to get her to look at him the same way. Then when they were fifteen she suddenly moved away. Ten years later, he might finally have a chance (or ten) or get his words out right, and his friends are there to help him with ten dates.
