Robby and Miguel really shouldn't have found themselves out on a date together. They were part of opposing dojos! Hell, Miguel had basically stolen Johnny as a father figure (or, at least, that's how Robby saw it), and Miguel had been such an asshole in the past- Not to mention what he did to Robby at the tournament.
By all metrics, the fact that they were now sitting across from each other at a restaurant, on a date, was absolutely absurd, but that's what was happening.
When they got there, it was a lot more packed than they expected it to be. Miguel didn't seem to mind, so Robby tried not to. Truthfully, though, it was kinda loud in there and he quickly found himself growing overstimulated, though he tried not to let that show.
He was doing well enough with it at first, but soon the truth of how he was feeling began to slip through the cracks. His smile was slipping, and he couldn't stop his leg from bouncing, rattling the table slightly. Forcing eye contact with his date was suddenly too much, and, while he wasn't aware of exactly what he was saying, he knew he probably wasn't being the best company.
Next thing he knew, he and Miguel were standing in the comparatively calm and quiet bathroom and he could finally breathe again.
"You seemed overwhelmed" Miguel said slowly. Robby was a bit embarrassed but nodded in confirmation.
"Yeah, sorry" Robby forced out even though words were growing increasingly hard to form. "I probably should've mentioned a while ago, but-"
"You're Autistic, right?" Miguel asked. Robby looked up at him in shock. "Sorry, it's just that my friend Hawk is Autistic and you have a lot of the same quirks he does- Or, well, you know, some of them, at least"
"Oh"
"It's okay" Miguel shrugged. "I don't mind it. Do you want to leave and go somewhere quieter?"
"I don't want to mess up the date you had planned"
"Rob, I'd rather us go somewhere where we'll both have a nice time" Miguel told him earnestly. "It's okay, I promise. Do you want to go?"
"Yes" Robby breathed, feeling a weight come off his shoulders. Miguel smiled. A part of him wanted to lean forward and kiss him, but he refrained. They weren't at that point. Not yet.
"Alright. Come on. Let's go"
