Work Text:

“dude, shut the fuck up! you’re such a dick!” kugisaki cackled out loud, throwing an empty water bottle at itadori. she was high out of her mind, they all were. it’s been a long week, and all they wanted to do was unwind a bit with some weed. so that’s what they did.

and here they were, in maki’s room, with kugisaki in maki’s lap while they shared a joint and itadori resting his head on fushiguro’s lap as they shared one too. they were all friends here, they didn’t care. gojo might be upset if he finds out, but as long as he didn’t find out, they didn’t worry about it.

staring up at him, itadori watched as fushiguro blew out some smoke, the conversation lively as ever. he was so pretty, so beautiful. his eyelashes were so nice, and so was he. he didn’t know when it started, but itadori’s been in love with him for as long as he can remember. he never told anybody though, being a jujutsu sorcerer meant you weren’t made for love.

but still, itadori loved with all he had. he had so much love to give, so much love he wanted and longed for. would fushiguro be the one to give it to him?

before he knew it, itadori was reaching his hand up, wanting to hold fushiguro’s face in his hand. he wanted to do more than that, but he wasn’t sure if fushiguro did.

noticing the creeping hand, fushiguro handed itadori the joint.
“oh, sorry,” he said, “i didn’t know you wanted it.”
feeling disappointed, itadori just smiled and took it. “nah, you’re fine.”
it wasn’t what he wanted, but then again, he didn’t want any of this. being a jujutsu sorcerer was hard. it was scary and painful.

itadori was scared, he was so fucking scared.

-

“i’m gonna get some fresh air,” fushiguro announced with a stretch. he turned to itadori who was leaning against maki’s bed.
“wanna join me?” he asked, his smile light and airy. itadori could get high off of fushiguro alone. it seems like he already was.
“yeah,” itadori said with a nod, feeling out of breath, “yeah, um, i’ll go with you.”

as they started to walk out, they debated telling maki and kugisaki about where they were going, but they doubted that they cared. they’ve been making out for the past thirty minutes, they’d be fine on his own.

just as they closed the door, fushiguro grabbed itadori’s hand and started running.
“come on,” he said, his smile wider than before, “i know a place where you can see the stars really well.”
fushiguro loved the stars, everybody knew this. itadori loved fushiguro, hopefully not everybody knew this.

so itadori followed him, becoming more aware of fushiguro’s cold hand in his warm one. maybe the high was starting to wear off, but itadori couldn’t help but melt under fushiguro’s freezing touch.

a quick run later and they arrived, immediately falling back into the field, huffing and puffing as they caught their breaths. once they did, they looked up. the stars were absolutely breathtaking; almost as much as fushiguro was.
“woah,” itadori gasped, at a loss for words.
“i know,” fushiguro said with a quiet chuckle, “they’re beautiful.”

sitting in a comfortable silence, itadori watched as the stars twinkled and shined. he couldn’t take his eyes off them, but he couldn’t get fushiguro out of his mind either, especially when they were so far away from each other.

it wasn’t really that far, but compared to earlier when itadori had his head in fushiguro’s lap, it was far to him. he just wanted to feel fushiguro’s touch against his, was that really so wrong?

“sorry,” fushiguro said, breaking the silence, “i was getting a little overwhelmed, and i just wanted to be alone with you for a bit.”
oh. itadori didn’t know how to take that. if he did, he might take it the wrong way.
“it’s fine,” he responded. he hesitated to say this last part. “i wanted to be alone with you too.”

itadori hoped fushiguro couldn’t see the red in his cheeks, but with the stars shining so brightly with a full moon behind them, he probably could. maybe he could blame it on the weed. would that be believable?

maybe not, but itadori didn’t worry about it when he heard a soft chuckle coming from fushiguro. he smiled. maybe things would be alright after all.

“thanks for taking me here,” itadori said, feeling all warm and soft inside.
“of course,” fushiguro replied, “this is my favorite spot, of course i’d take you here.”
what did he mean by ‘of course i’d take you here’? did that mean he hasn’t shown anybody else? he wouldn’t want to show anybody else?

his curiosity getting the better of him, itadori intended to find out, turning to face him. fushiguro peered at him from the corner of his eye. he was beautiful from every angle.
“have you not taken anybody else here?”
fushiguro shook his head. “nope, just you. i only really wanted to show you this place.”
“oh.”

their conversation ended with that, itadori turning back to look at the stars. it took a while before fushiguro’s response processed in his head, but when it did, it drove itadori crazy. what did he mean by that? why did he only want to show him?

once again, itadori couldn’t help but ask. “why only me?”
he waited for a response, but he was only met with the sounds of his chest rising and falling. maybe he was thinking. itadori didn’t know how to take that, and he was too scared to say anything else. there was a specific answer he wanted, but he was sure that fushiguro wouldn’t provide it.

“because i like you,” fushiguro finally replied, his voice calm and soft. that was the answer itadori wanted, he got the answer he wanted.

at a loss for words again, itadori just stared up at the sky. his mind was slower than usual, but when the pieces finally clicked, he jumped up, leaning on his back elbows as he looked down at fushiguro. he was smiling at him, his eyes weary and tired.

“y-you like me?” itadori asked, almost out of disbelief. he knew fushiguro wouldn’t lie to him, he meant everything he said. he was blunt and honest unless given a reason not to be, and right now, itadori couldn’t think of a reason for him to not be.

“yeah, i do,” fushiguro said with a nod. he said that so casually, how can he be so calm right now? itadori felt like his heart was going to jump out of his chest.
opening his mouth to speak, the words were stuck in his throat. itadori wanted to respond, he wanted to tell him he felt the same, but he couldn’t get them out.

maybe he was scared, scared for their future. scared for their future together; if they even had one.

“i think i love you actually,” fushiguro said, his eyes lingering on itadori before looking back up at the stars.
“what?” the more he said, the more itadori felt lost, kind of in a good way though.
fushiguro chuckled. his laugh was so sweet, so nice. “i mean i don’t know. i’m sixteen, i don’t know a lot.”

sitting up, fushiguro gazed into itadori’s eyes, his smile warm as ever. his hand grazed over itadori’s for a second before enveloping his hand, holding it loosely. judging by the soft tint in his eyes, it was like he didn’t need to hold it tightly. he knew itadori wouldn’t go anywhere, and he was right, itadori wouldn’t.

he was better than him though. if given the chance, he would’ve taken fushiguro’s hand in his and never let go, desperate to keep him in his life forever. but now that it was actually happened because fushiguro initiated it, he didn’t feel the need to.

nobody would ever know this, but itadori’s lips met fushiguro’s, longing for more. the stars were their only witness, and they’d like to keep it that way.
