Chapter Text
Y/n's pov:
I loved baking and cooking. I have since I was a kid. I was good at it too. I guess that's why my parents want me to work at the restaurant. I don't want to though. They hurt me the second I do anything wrong and it doesn't help that we are in New York so lots of mistakes can be made especially with rude customers.
It was normal day at the restaurant when around noon the avengers came in and sat down. It was the OG six, the Maximoff twins, and some other kid with brown fluffy hair. Plus some dude with a cool metal arm.
"Hey go help them." My dad says shoving me toward the table. I go over and hand them some menu's.
"Hello my name is y/n and I will be serving you today. I am going to give you a couple minutes to look over the menu's then I'll be back to take your order and if you need me just holler. " I say with a smile and walk away.
After about ten minutes I look over and everyone's menu's were down and they weren't looking at them so I walk over.
"Is everyone ready to order?" I ask and they say yes and tell me their food.
"Hey how old are you?" Mr. Stark asks. I have to admit I do look 11.
"Oh I'm 14 but my parents own the place and I wanted to work here." I tell him.
"Interesting." He comment's and after that I take their orders to the kitchen and get to cooking them.
My mom then comes up behind me. "You better treat them well and give them top-notch service or else." She said before she plastered on a fake smile and went to help her customers. That scared the hell out of me.
I made the food and handed it to them. They all seemed to enjoy it and left a decent tip. This was the first time in a while I could peacefully sleep that night.
~💕~
The avengers became regulars. Always came for lunch on Sundays and occasionally for other meals on other days. Occasionally some would be missing or others would join but usually it was the same people. Today was a Sunday and I didn't get any sleep last night due to a huge bruise on my left side. Thank you mother. I was also hungry due to not getting any food yesterday. Anyhow I was tired but the avengers came in and sat in my section per usual. When they first started coming they requested my section but now everyone just knows to put them there.
"Hey guys!" I say as brightly as I can. My father had just kicked me in the bruise just a couple seconds ago for accidently getting someone's order wrong (I gave them Pepsi instead of diet coke)
"Hi y/n" The brown haired boy who I learned was Peter said while the rest also replied with hello's.
"So what are we getting today?" I asked them. I didn't need to bring them menu's anymore. About a month of them coming here often they have made it their mission (with the help of some enhanced eaters) to order every item on the menu as their meal and within 10 visits they did it. Granted on visit ten they brought like 15 more people who all ordered something different but they still did it.
Everyone ordered and I went into the back to prepare the meal. Halfway through my mom came in.
"What's taking so long?" She asked grabbing my shirt.
"There is ten of them mom." I replied back.
"Are you giving me sass." She said throwing me down but not before I got a whiff of the alcohol on her breath.
"Mom you're drunk you can't serve customers like this." I told her
"I CAN DO WHATEVER I WANT MISSY." She yelled and I have never been more grateful for thick doors. She quickly kicked my arm a couple times and went back out. I'm so tired.
I bring the team their meals and they all say thanks and I head over to help other customers. Later they ask for the check and as always Tony leaves a big tip no matter how much I tell him not to. He thinks it's because I feel bad about getting so much money but truly it's because my parents take my tips and I don't want them getting more money. In fact I'm not getting paid at all.
Before they leave Peter tells me he wants to talk to me and pulls me over to a secluded corner.
"Hey what was your mom yelling about earlier." He asks.
"You heard that" I say panicked. If he heard it everyone else did to. Oh god they probably think I'm stupid now. I am but I don't need them knowing that.
"I did but don't worry no one else did." He reassures me.
"How would they not hear it if you did?" I ask.
"Hey we've known each other for a while. Meaning I can trust you.... right?" He says.
"Yes" I reply skeptically.
"Ok cool I'm spiderman and I have enhanced hearing so I could hear her but only barely so I couldn't hear anything before that. You guys must have thick doors anyhow, you ok?" He explains.
"Oh yeah I'm fine it was just a misunderstanding you know." I lie. Although he must have sensed I was lying because he look at me before saying ok and leaving to catch up with the others. Thank god he didn't find out. That would be too much.
I would have to find a way for my parents to stop screaming at me. As if that's actually possible.
As if the universe heard me the very next Sunday our rudest customer Jerry comes in. And of course he was sat in my section. No one else wanted him so they gave him to me apparently.
"Took you long enough sweetheart" He yelled as I walked over. Before I could even say anything he was looking me up and down. Oh did I mention he was also a pedophile. I didn't have any concreate proof of this but seriously. I didn't need any. He looks me up and down (sometimes licking his lips), his eyes linger near my chest for a little too long (not much there but there is a bit.), and I have caught him staring at my ass more then once. He always makes me uncomfortable and I try to keep my distance. Which of course will now result in me being hit again by the end of the day. Also, my mom is home today meaning my dad will be stressed when we get home and will get drunk. My mom will want to get drunk with him and I will be hit. Again.
"hey sweetie get me some soda and some chicken. Even someone like you should be able to remember that." He said. All I could think while I was making his food was how well him and my parents would get along which makes me laugh a bit. Bad move considering my father storms over.
"What are you laughing at brat. You better not be messing anything up." He yells.
"I'm sorry." I say.
"You better be. God you can't do anything." He says and then leaves to go help customers.
I go and give Jerry his food when the avengers walk in. I actually put on my real smile and go take their orders. They get put right next to Jerry's table and I hope for once that dumbass will keep his mouth shut.
I quickly finish up the meals and give them to the avengers.
"Why don't you sit down with us for a bit?" Natasha says. There weren't that many people here today and everyone looked like they liked Natasha's suggestion. But I don't want my father to get mad at me.
"You can tell your dad your taking your break and come sit." Peter says. Little do they know I don't get breaks. But if the avengers are telling me to sit I can't just not sit. It couldn't hurt to ask, right? Well, ok, it could hurt, a lot, but I really really want to.
I go into the back and go up to my father.
"Excuse me," I say quietly.
"What." He says harshly.
"Um.." I start.
"Stop stuttering idiot." He replies
"Ok, the avengers want me to sit with them so I was wondering if I could because I don't want to tell them no." I rush out quickly adding the last part in hopes he will let me.
"Well what are doing back here, are you trying to get them to hate you, god." He says mad and without replying I go back out and sit with them. I'm still a little shaken up from being nervous over asking him but no one seems to notice.
"Hey." Wanda says as I sit near her and Pietro. I wave back and Pietro messes up my hair which I quickly fix. Everyone else says hi and we quickly go into normal conversation before Jerry asks my dad for a drink. He is such a lightweight and a drunk Jerry is never good. He is always trying to pull something. I get nervous and I think Pietro notices cause he gives me a look. I tell him I'm fine and thank god it wasn't Wanda otherwise she would read my mind and see what's going on.
After a little while I get up to go check on people and Jerry beckons me over.
"Hey sweetheart." He slurs out touching my arm. I back up and bit and automatically hear the avengers quiet down. They are still talking as to not raise suspicion but I can tell that if Jerry makes one wrong move they'll do something.
"Why don't you go get me my check. Think you can do that pretty girl?" He asks condescendingly.
I move to get him the check and feel him looking at me the entire way. When I allow myself to look toward the table the avengers look like they wanna kill someone. I debate letting them. But then my father will make sure to tell my mom and I don't really feel like dying today.
