Chapter Text
<Friday, 12:34PM.>
Kyle and Stan had been best friends since they were tiny.
Of course one was going to fall for the other.
Kyle knew he was inlove with Stan since he was 13, when he really got a taste of what romance really is, so around 3 years now. Kyle watched Stan go through many girlfriends, and helped him with girl issues even though, he himself, had only had relationships with girls that lasted around 5 days. He certainly wasn't an expert, and yet, Stan always ran back to him for girl advice, help in a relationship, it someone's shoulder to cry on after a break up. Kyle hated seeing Stan sad, but he always couldn't help having the remaining warm feeling in his chest that Stan would be single, and that he could possibly have a chance with his best mate of 16 years. But of course, all those thoughts are shut down whenever Stan gets yet another girlfriend.
Now, Stan and Kyle are walking along side eachother in their regular old school hallways. Stan was wearing his regular old clothes, and so was Kyle. It was a regular old day. Except for Stan's new girlfriend. She wasn't regular or old. Wendy Testaburger was her name, a girl who Stan had gone out with many time before, but they ended up breaking up every time because of one singular fall out. Stan was ranting to Kyle about what Wendy had done this time, and why he's pissed off at this, and why she's pissed off at that. It was the same conversation every time.
"She'll forget about it some time or another." Kyle would say.
And this was Kyle's response every single time Stan and Wendy had an argument. The amount of times he'd wished to tell Stan to 'find someone else who wouldn't fight with you all the time, like me', or 'she's not worth your energy. Go for someone you're closer with, and someone you can relate to'. But he couldn't. Because Stan was just so devoted to Wendy, that he knew he'd just make things worse by telling him to move on. It hurt, talking to Stan about Wendy. But he sucked it up. He told Stan he'd always be there for him, and he wasn't a liar. Most of the time.
"I know she will. Thanks for being here, Kyle. I know I can always count on you when it comes to girl advice, man." Stan would playfully nudge Kyle's shoulder after giving him a response similar to the one stated, smiling brightly up at him.
Kyle would give him a warm smile back. "Any time, dude." God, he wished he never said that. Sure, he wanted to be there for Stan, but on the other hand, it just hurt so fucking much seeing him with someone who hasn't him.
Kyle stops at him locker, taking out his History books and a fresh note book, shoving them into his backpack, then Stan speaks up.
"So, Kyle. You going to Wendy's party this weekend?" Stan would ask him.
Kyle wasn't the biggest fan of parties, but he knew, if Stan was there, he'd be fine. Sure it was Wendy's party, so he'd have to see them together, but it was whatever. It's just like every other day, isn't it? "Yeah, I'm going. I take it you're going too, then?"
"Yup."
"Great."
Kyle shuts his locker closed, letting out a long sigh. Stan takes note of the sigh, but doesn't comment on it.
"History? I thought we had Maths next?" Stan asks Kyle, trying to make conversation.
"Yeah, I missed out on some homework that I need to catch up on." Kyle says in response to Stan's question, looking over at him with a slight smile.
"Okay, Einstein. Better go get your calculator too or you'll not be fit for Maths, either." Stan says this with a chuckle, obviously trying to make a joke, but it really only came out as something someone who's drunk would say.
"Right.... Yeah. Uh, I've got my calculator iny bag, dude." Kyle chuckles at Stan's response, thinking of it as random, and unneeded in the conversation.
