The thought of a work holiday party used to fill Elle Greenaway with dread, but as she smooths her simple red ‘mrs santa’ dress, she feels calm. A pretty hairclip holds her newly regrown curls in check and she smiles at the sight of Alex Blake. Her wife. A truth many at the BAU still did not know. Tonight they would find out.
Alex is dressed in a simple red santa trim suit, the white fur matched perfectly by the highlights at the edges of Elle’s dress, the two are both wearing heels, Elle’s smile soft as she straightens Alex’s tie. She can see the hint of fear in Alex’s eyes and smiles, leaning to kiss her softly.
“You look gorgeous.”
“So do you…”
Nerves soothed they make their way to the party, Elle’s grip tightening on Alex’s hand as they enter the party, a promise she won’t leave, no matter what. It’s mostly easy going, Spencer smiles as he welcomes her back, Derek merely laughs and Emily beams as she hugs Alex. It’s JJ who breaks the silence.
“You two look… perfect… together.”
Hotch who had started choking on a drink as soon as they entered remains silent, merely giving an approving nod. Erin drags a soft sigh from Alex and Elle smiles as she hugs Erin, her voice soft.
“You are always welcome to visit us Erin. Anytime.”
She means it, Alex realises. The Holiday party is tough for anyone who doesn’t drink but Elle seems to be at ease with Erin being in their lives, seeming to care for Erin too. Later, much later, as they are leaving, Alex watches Elle hug Erin again and whisper something to her before they leave. She will find out what it was about soon enough.
