Penelope Garcia had always loved baking. She loved to make pies and cookies and treats for the people she considered family both blood and work family. So, when she moves Alex in with her after her husband kicks her out, she doesn’t think twice about baking for the other woman, her smile softly shy as she places a plate of cookies and a mug of tea on Alex’s work desk she’s moved into a corner of the room.
Alex smiles, bites into the cookie she selects from the plate delicately and chews, her eyes soft as she watches Penelope pace, swallowing before beckoning her closer. Penelope, dear, sweet, gentle, Penelope, looks terrified.
“These are wonderful Penny, thank you.”
Penelope treats her with a grin, then a giggle and Alex smiles as she relaxes.
“Want to keep me company a while?”
Penelope nods and Alex smiles, gathering her work to move to the sofa, watching Penny bring both her drink and cookies over, settling with Penelope curled close as she works. She is, she thinks, finally loved the way she’s always needed to be. Someone sweet and kind who doesn’t mind her flaws.
