december 24th, the shopping centre.
rui was walking around with an absolutely massive bag on him, full of presents for his best friends, emu and nene, and his boyfriend, tsukasa. he had to hurry back home to begin wrapping the presents, and to also begin working on emu's present. tsukasa and nene had already gotten their presents as they were going to be cooking, so there was already many presents under the tree (currently in tsukasa's room, but he doesn't mind). he just needed to focus on getting his presents home..
emu had also gone out on this winter day to get presents for her girlfriend, nene, and her best friends, tsukasa and rui. she was happily skipping around the shopping centre with a massive amount of bags. she had to begin racing home to start wrapping.
suddenly, she recognises a particular purple and blue haired boy, then suddenly..
*CRASH!*
the two collide into each other, bags go flying, and the two groan from the pain. luckily, neither bought each other's presents, so nothing was spoiled.
wait.
'emu-kun' 'rui-kun!' they both say simultaneously.
they go silent, then begin to laugh.
'are you ok emu-kun?'
'mmmm...' emu responds, clearly still out of it.
rui brushes himself off, then pulls the obviously dizzy emu onto her feet. emu quickly grabs all of her presents, hoping rui didn't see any of the presents. rui does the same, as he doesn't want the presents (and parts of emu's present) to be revealed.
they both manage to pick up their presents, however, they needed to wrap their presents before tomorrow. emu realises this, and asks in her excited voice 'rui,rui! do you want to go to my house and wrap our presents there? afterwards we can go together to tsukasa's and meet them there!'
'sure!' rui responds, 'ah, i need to get my stuff from my house though if that's ok with you?' emu nods, and says 'take all the time you need! i won't start wrapping until you're back!' then, the duo leave the shopping centre, with emu (much to rui's regret and surprise) carrying all the presents to her house, and rui quickly catching the train to his house. emu secretly turns back and buys rui's present, then races home.
about an hour later, rui finally arrives at emu's house, the girl greeting him as she lets him in. no matter how many times rui has been to her house, he will always be amazed at the amount of space, and even when he walks into her room, he is amazed at the amount of space. he is shocked to also find that all of her presents are placed on the floor, while his presents were still in its bag, much to his relief.
'wait here, i need to go grab the wrapping materials!' emu shouts 'set up the christmas music!!', then runs out of the room. rui giggles, then goes on his phone and creates a playlist, named 'tinsel tunes', then starts adding songs to it. he begins to play the songs while taking out his presents. luckily, he had quickly finished emu's present, and hides it just in time.
emu comes back with multiple rolls of wrapping paper, just as rui plays the first song. they then begin to wrap everything with rui doing the wrapping and emu starts drawing on the tags. rui then leaves for emu to wrap his present and she does the same, until all the presents are completely wrapped.
'wow, we did it! operation boom boom ☆ sparkling present is complete!! couldn't do it without you rui-kun!' emu says, excited.
'fufu~ couldn't have done it without you too emu-kun' rui says.
'so, you ready to go to tsukasa's now?'
'yeah, whenever you're ready!'
they leave emu's house with their newly wrapped presents and bags, both talking about how excited they are about the party and christmas day.
