it was a cloudy winter day at school when we were planning our date. new years was coming up soon and tsukasa suddenly came up with an idea. we sit down at the rooftop and i put an arm around tsukasa's waist.
'rui, there's something i would like to do with you if that's ok..'
'fufu, go on then.' i say excitedly.
'what if we went stargazing, and watched the fireworks on new years!'
'that's a great idea! what if we also had a picnic?'
'yeah, that would be great, however, what do we do with our families..?' tsukasa asks.
'maybe we could get our families out together and celebrate at the same place!' i thought as soon as the idea popped into my head.
'good idea rui! maybe like a party! maybe we could invite the ootoris and kusanagis as well!'
the bell rings.
'ah, looks like we already have to go back inside.'
'thank goodness we're in the same class this year'

me and tsukasa were laying down on a picnic mat, enjoying some hot drinks and some teriyaki. our families were getting ready for the fireworks, and emu and nene had gone somewhere. we were gazing up at the stars.
'rui, do you want to light up the sparklers now?'
'yeah, i don't see why not.'
tsukasa gets out a lighter and lights up the sparkler, then we both bring it upwards, pointing to the stars.
i point it towards tsukasa, to which he says, 'that's sweet that you think of me as your star, but we have to make a wish my director!'
he places his sparkler on his other hand and gently raises my hand.
we wish together, then lower our hands so we don't get burned.
tsukasa checks his phone. 'ah, its only a few seconds until midnight!'
'well then,' i say, then blow out the sparklers.
i place my hand on his soft cheek, then the fireworks begin to go off.
'happy new year rui/tsukasa' we both say, then i pull him in for a kiss.
it was perfect. the festive atmosphere, the butterflies flying out of my stomach, the excitement exploding out of us. truly magical.
he pulls away. both of us blush heavily.
'i love you so much rui, may this year be a great one for both of us!' he kisses me on the cheek.
'i love you too tsukasa, lets do our best this year.'
we both smile and hug each other, then start to watch the fireworks.
the stars twinkled more than before that night, but my star shone brighter than ever before with that soft smile and gleeful giggle. i couldn't help but laugh too.
i love him so much, it's unbelievable.
we stare back up at the stars, when a shooting star flies by.
'oh wow rui! should we make another wish?!' tsukasa basically shouts.
'sure tsukasa!' i respond, excited.
'ok then... i wish that me and you and emu and nene make the world smile brighter with our performances this year!' tsukasa says, then looks at me.
'i wish... (i feel a pang in my heart, my selfish desires almost coming to light..) that we can stay together for as long as we can, and make the world smile!' i shout.
'ah, ours was similar then.'
i lean my head on tsukasa's chest. he blushes more slightly. so cute.
we lie there in comfortable silence, before i hear some soft snoring from underneath me.
'ah, good night tsukasa.'
i kiss his cheek and before i know it, i had also fallen asleep amongst the sea of stars and the mirage of the fireworks. what a way to start the new year.
'hey lovebirds, we're leaving, get up' nene says with a smile and emu stifling her laugh.
'well then rui, lets go home then.'
he holds his hand out towards me, and then we pack up and hold hands back to our families.
