Work Text:
Ga Ming was sitting and gazing at the sea one bright morning when he felt someone tap his shoulder. Startled, he looked back, half-expecting someone to ask him for help.
“Dahlia?”
The pink haired boy smiled. “Who else would it be?”
Ah, Dahlia. His aesthetic was like that of a victorian femboy who was left at Hot Topic. Ga Ming smiled back.
“Shouldn't you be at the cathedral?”
“Sure, but I had some time so I thought I might visit you.” He turned to the sea. “What are you looking at anyway?”
“Oh!” Ga Ming pointed to the distance. “There’s a–”
“Ga Ming!! Goth Guy!! Guess what??” He was cut short by a joyful Xiangling, who made her way to the two of them.
“...What did you call me?” Dahlia staggered, confused.
“I was helping in Wanmin Restaurant and found a recipe! Thought you guys might wanna try it out.” Xiangling pulled a slip of paper from her pocket and unfolded it, revealing its contents.
‘Recipe for Chocolate Chip Cookies’
“Cookies, huh? Sounds fun! What do you say, Dahlia?” Ga Ming turned to Dahlia.
“I say we could give it a try,” he said, nodding.
“Great!” Xiangling beamed. “I’ll meet you in the evening, then!”
“Whoa, what? You’re not going to help us?” Xiangling started towards the port.
“I have to help someone! You can use the kitchen in Wanmin. See ya!” She turned and walked away.
“You have got to be kidding me,” Dahlia groaned.
“Oh, cheer up, Dahlia. Let’s go and get started!” Ga Ming smiled.

“It says you need to add the dry ingredients into a bowl…” Ga Ming started. He squinted at the small text trying to decipher the measurements. Dahlia added sugar to a bowl with melted butter.
“Why does it use two sugars…? Like, just choose one.”
Ga Ming looked up. “I’m sure it has to do with the taste or something.”
“Are you sure?”
“Like I would know.” Ga Ming laughed. Hearing this, Dahlia smiled.
He’s such a sunshine… I love him so much, he thought.
He turned to the recipe Ga Ming pinned to a cupboard and read aloud. “‘Add vanilla and an egg…’”
“Dahlia, you’re so sweet. I really like you,” Ga Ming mumbled.
Dahlia stopped reading. “What?”
“Nothing, haha.” He did the peace sign with his hand. The silliest silly. “Let’s add the dry stuff to the wet stuff.”
Dahlia grinned at that. Ga Ming didn’t realize why and picked up the spoon. As he was mixing, he stopped.
“Why’s it so chunky? Haha, it looks awful!!”
“It does… oh, did you preheat the oven?” Dahlia asked. There was a hint of tiredness in his voice, like he wanted to shove the cookies into the oven and just sleep.
Ga Ming nodded. “It said 350º Fahrenheit.”
“Who even uses Fahrenheit?” Dahlia rolled his eyes.
**Note that the author is American and doesn’t know Celsius. WTF IS A KILOMETER**
Just then, the oven finished preheating and beeped, causing Dahlia to jump up, startled.
“Ahh!” he yelped. Ga Ming laughed and grabbed his hand.
“Come on, Dracula, let’s finish up quick.” Dahlia blushed.
“Not my fault that oven is so damn loud!”
(So silly I love them both)

“You know, I was thinking. It says 350º for ten minutes, right?” Ga Ming said after sliding the tray into the oven. Dahlia looked up from the random paper he found on the table and was reading.
“Right.”
“So… what if we tried something to make it go faster?”
“…What are you implying?” Dahlia worried.
Ga Ming smiled wide.
“Oh, no. You’re not thinking of something—risky, are you?” Dahlia stammered.
“What if instead of 350º for 10 minutes, we baked them at 3500º for 1 minute??”
“I mean, we could try!” Dahlia half sobbed. Somebody help these two.
“Hell yeah!!”
Ga Ming’s vision glowed as he held his hand near the oven. A fire was created from his hands and the cookies slowly began to darken in color. He smiled and turned.
“See Dahlia? It’s working!! It’s—”
“GA MING WATCH OUT” Dahlia screamed.
“Huh? OH NOOO!!!!” Ga Ming jumped and staggered back.
“IT’S ON FIRE THERE’S A FIRE DAHLIA!!!!!” he panicked
“I KNOW, I SEE IT!!!!!!!!”
Dahlia put his hands on his head, frantically trying to look around and find something to put the fire out. Ga Ming turned to Dahlia.
“WHAT THE HELL DO I DO?!?!?!”.
“I DON’T KNOW!!!!”
“IT’S SPREADING!!!!!!”
“OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!”
The fire spread to the stovetop. Ga Ming put a protective arm around Dahlia, causing him to blush again. If they weren’t screaming and panicking with the kitchen on fire right now, Dahlia would have giggled.
“GA MING, THE FIRE IS GETTING BIGGER!!!!”
“WHAT THE FUUUUCCCKKK”
“WHAT DO WE DOOOO!!!!!!!!!”
“IT’S JOEVER IT’S FUCKING JOEVER DAHLIAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
“DEAR LORD BARBATOS!!!!!!!!!!”
Suddenly and somehow, Dahlia had an idea. He has a hydro vision! Why didn’t he think of this before?!
“GA MING! I KNOW WHAT TO DO! STAND BACK, DARLING!”
Ga Ming blushed. “D-darling? Aww, that’s — IT’S REACHED THE TABLE WATCH OUT!!!!!!!”
“EEEKKKKKKKKK!!!!” Dahlia screeched (like a bat) as the flames nearly grazed him. Had Ga Ming not grabbed him and pulled him back, he could have gotten hurt. W Ga Ming.
Dahlia pulled out his catalyst book from his ass (or maybe it just materialized from nowhere like they usually do) and raised his hands, aiming at the fire.
“HERE GOES NOTHING!!!! RAHHHHHH!!!”
Water sprayed onto the fire and the flames started to get smaller.
“YEAHH!!! GO WHITE BOY, GO!!!!!!!” Ga Ming cheered.
He kept shooting water from his hands, and the fire, being strong, slowly reduced in size. Dahlia was struggling, But didn’t dare show it. He just stood there, all pretty, putting out the fire. He looked so cunty.
Ga Ming quickly snatched the bucket that just happened to be lying around near the table, and turned on the other tap to fill it up.
“IT’S GETTING SMALLER!! UGH—” Dahlia was getting tired. “IT’S SO STRONG, WHAT DID WE PUT IN THOSE COOKIES??”
The flames seemed to get smaller, but raged back up. How stubborn. Dahlia grunted as he nearly lost his footing. Just when he thought he couldn’t do any more, Ga Ming charged towards the fire with the heavy ass bucket.
“RAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!” He threw the water with all his strength.
“YEAH, GA MING!!!! I LOVE YOU!!!” Dahlia yelled.
“I LOVE YOU TOOO!!!!”
With their combined efforts, the fire finally went down and there was just a trail of smoke rising from the countertop. Panting heavily, they stopped to process what the hell just happened.
“…you okay?” Ga Ming asked. Dahlia nodded.
“You?”
“I’m alright, but the cookies…” He pointed to the ashes resting on the tray in the open oven.
“That’s fine. At least no one got hurt.” Dahlia smiled. “Let’s never do that again.”
“Agreed,” Ga Ming laughed. “Though, that was kinda fun, don’t you think?”
“…what??” Dahlia said with wide eyes.
“I mean, we were so cool! We put out that fire together! We did awesome!”
Dahlia facepalmed and then laughed. Ga Ming then reached out and softly grabbed his hand, pulling him close. With his other hand, he wiped away some ash that was on his cheek. Dahlia’s face went pink. The two of them stood there for a few moments, gazing into each other’s eyes.
“Dahlia, I’m glad you’re okay,” Ga Ming whispered. He leaned forward a little.
“You know, Ga Ming, I can never get tired of being with you.”
“Is that so? What if I accidentally started another fire?”
Dahlia laughed. “You’re so silly.” He leaned in further, and his lips just barely touched Ga Ming’s when someone suddenly opened the door.
“Hey!! How’d it go??” Xiangling asked happily.
The two immediately moved away from each other, staring at her.
“Oh, uh… I hope I didn’t interrupt anything…” she said slowly. “So, how far did you guys get?”
“We, uhh…” Ga Ming turned to look at the kitchen, which was still somehow in good condition. “Hey, what the fuck?” he started. “How’s the place not damaged?”
“Oh! Chef Mao fireproofed everything recently since we’ve had numerous accidents.”
“How did you know we started a fire??” Dahlia questioned.
“I could see the flames from outside the window. You guys did a great job putting it out!” she smiled.
“What??! And you just casually watched us?”
“Yep!”
“Xiangling,” Ga Ming sighed. “We burnt the cookies…”
“Don’t worry about it! I figured you guys would start a fire, so I made some at home myself!” She showed them the plate of beautiful cookies she was carrying.
“Oh wow!! Those look so good!”
“You figured we would start one? What do you mean by that??” Dahlia gawked.
“Thanks, Xiangling!” Ga Ming marveled.
“No problem!” she beamed. “I have to get going again, I’ll see you guys later!”
“Bye Xiangling!! We won’t start any more fires!!” Ga Ming called out to her. She laughed and waved.
“Wow,” Ga Ming said. Dahlia turned to him and held his hand. He noticed, and his gaze softened as they looked at one another. Then, Dahlia put his hand on Ga Ming’s face, brought him close, and kissed him. Ga Ming froze for a moment, surprised, and returned the kiss, putting his hands on Dahlia’s waist and pulling him towards him. Time seemed to slow down for the two of them, and nothing else mattered in the world. It was a moment so sudden, yet so full of bliss.
They finally broke the kiss for air.
“I…” Ga Ming blushed and tried to say something, but nothing came out. Dahlia was hiding his own reddened face in his hands.
“I love you… Ga Ming,” Dahlia whispered. Ga Ming smiled.
“I love you too. I promise to not set things on fire too often.”
Dahlia laughed. “You know, I wouldn’t really mind. As long as it’s you and me.”
“And as long as no one gets hurt…”
“…that too.”
