Work Text:

"Wolf, hurry up! We have to get to the store before everyone starts gathering!" Song said from the front door, watching her daughter struggling to tie her shoes fast enough.

"Done!" Wolf sighed after a while, getting up from the floor before she and her mom left the house.

They were planning to go christmas shopping and get everything they needed before it was too late. Everyone was frantically emptying the stores to get the perfect christmas present to their friends and families. Song wanted to get to the mall early to make sure that all of their needed items would have been restocked and was waiting for them on the shelves.

Wolf was just excited to go out with her mom. They didn't get to hang out a lot, just the two of them, so she was really happy. She told Song about what she was planning to give the rest of their family.

Song listened with interest, smiling at Wolf's excitement. It was her first christmas ever, so Song was glad that she was looking forward to it. They chatted all the way to the mall, where Song grabbed a cart and entered the closest store to search for any needed products.

Wolf followed her mom, while also searching for any possible christmas present to give to her family. Whenever she found one, she would drop it into the cart.

Suddenly, Song gasped as she picked an item up from a shelf. She hid it in the cart before Wolf was able to see it.

"What was that?" Wolf asked, smirking as Song smiled nervously.

"Nothing. Just another christmas gift."

"For who?"

"Definitely not for you. Just keep looking around!" Song quickly dropped the subject and Wolf giggled behind her back.

As they kept walking, Wolf found a pair of christmas themed oven mitts. Song loved to cook, and Wolf knew that she would use them. It was the perfect gift!

She grabbed them and was just about to hide them in the cart together with the other items when Song turned around. Wolf quickly hid the mitts behind her back.

"Young miss, what are you hiding there?" Song asked, wanting to make sure that Wolf wasn't doing something mischeavous.

"Nothing. I promise!" Wolf said immediately.

Song gave her a glare but pulled the cart out of their spot to go towards the checkout. Wolf sneakily hid the mitts in the cart without Song noticing. Now she just had to keep them hidden until christmas. It couldn't be that hard, could it?

When they got to the checkout, Wolf helped Song put all of the bought items into paper bags. She glanced at Song, who was filling one of the bags up, to make sure that she wasn't looking, before she picked up the mitts. Unfortunately, Song's gaze didn't stay down. As Song picked up the item that she'd tried to hide from Wolf earlier, she looked up at her daughter. The two froze and stood up with their items in their arms.

Wolf looked at the packet of christmas themed hair ties, and Song looked at the pair of christmas themed oven mitts.

"Hair ties?"

"Oven mitts?"

They exchanged a glance before realizing what was going on. They started to giggle and the giggle soon turned into a laugh.

They had just been trying to hide each other's christmas presents from each other!

Quickly finishing with adding the bought items to the paper bags, they exited the store and sat down on a bench outside.

"I guess the surprise is ruined now, huh?" Song smiled and Wolf nodded.

"Yeah. I was trying to keep it a secret."

Song got an idea.

"Do you want to open your present now? I'll get you something else for christmas", Song offered and Wolf immediately grabbed the packet of hair ties to check them out.

She was losing hair ties faster than Dave was losing braincells.

Song watched her daughter's excitement as she opened her early christmas gift. The hair ties were decorated with glitter and charms, like reindeers and snowmen. She loved them! She looked up at her mom, hugging her as a way of showing gratitude.

"You can open your present too, if you want!" she offered.

"Oooh, yes~!" Song exclaimed and searched around in the bags to find her oven mitts.

When she found them, she immediately tried them on to make sure that they were the right size. Apparently, Wolf was great at finding oven mitts, because they fit Song perfectly!

She couldn't wait to go home and bake something with her new oven mix. She would put them to great use.

Wolf was happy that her mom liked her christmas present. They got up from the bench and made their way back home. Song held Wolf's hand as they walked, their arms swayed back and forth between them.

Despite the fact that the shopping spree didn't turn out like either of them expected, the morning had turned out great because they spent it together.
