Favorite Nurse

Summary:

Yelena takes care of Kate after she gets injured.

Notes:

This was written for the lovely Hollie47 in November and I'm finally cross-posting it now <3

Work Text:

Yelena had seen her go down. It was a surprise ambush. As she fought her way through, all she could think about was Kate and whether she was okay. It was terrifying. Yelena had never cared about another person as much as she cared about Kate.

To her relief she could get to Kate quickly and get her away from everything. To her relief Kate was alive. Hurt but alive. That was all that mattered.

“Where are your injuries?” Yelena asked.

“My leg. My arm,” Kate said weakly. “My neck.”

Yelena took a closer look. There was a cut on Kate’s neck, blood dripping down her skin. There were cuts on her legs and arms too. It was hard to assess but Yelena thought they weren't too deep. Thankfully. The streets were not the ideal place for medical care but it was the best she could do right now until she could get Kate to a safe house and a doctor.

Yelena carefully cleaned the wounds. Kate hissed.

“I know this is not nice,” Yelena said.

“Definitely not nice,” Kate muttered.

“But I must take care of you,” Yelena said, continuing to clean her wounds.

Kate gave her a weak smile.

Yelena tore off pieces of her clothes to cover the cuts. Not ideal but it would do. She'd get bandages later.

She hesitated then pressed a gentle kiss to Kate’s forehead. “Now you'll be all better,” she said softly.

Kate smiled fondly. “You are my favorite nurse. I feel better already.”

Yelena stroked her cheek before picking her up and carrying her to a safehouse. Kate would be okay. And if Kate was okay, then Yelena was okay too. That's what love meant, she'd learned.
