Work Text:

Lumine, for the first time, was scared.

Which was ridiculous.

She had been through so much–falls of kingdoms, of Gods, of those that she loved–yet she was scared now.

Why?

What was so scary about some.. flowers?

“Traveler?” Paimon asked concerned, tapping her gently on the shoulder, “Are you okay? You look a little – pale ..”

She nodded. “I’m okay, Paimon.” she lied, shaking her head more for herself than Paimon.

It wasn’t hard to admit that it was kinda embarrassing to be so scared of something so miniscule. Everyone who’s self-conscious enough about themself would have the same thought cross their mind once or twice. Especially if they were her.

Who could blame her?

“Traveler?”

Especially if they were her.

“Somehow Paimon can’t believe that.”

Her grip around the flower stems only grew harsher.

Why was defeating Dvalin less terrifying than putting some flowers on a rock? Was there something wrong with her?

Surely there was.

“Traveler? Hellloo? Can you hear me?”

This is getting kinda sad, Lumine thinks.

It’s – it’s just flowers! There were flowers from where she came from, right? Surely there was. So what was she so scared about?

“Is there something wrong, Traveler?”

She tried to hide the way she jumped at his voice.

She had almost forgotten that he was here.

Archons – she was pathetic. What did they even see in her? She was a fool.

“Nothing’s wrong,” She struggled to stand up from her kneeling position. “And I’m okay, Paimon.”

She heard him hum.

“Whatever makes you feel better.” It didn’t. Lumine didn’t lie to herself about that. “I’ll wait for you outside.”

Frowning, she turns her attention to the cave entrance.

”No.”

Dainsleif stops in his tracks.

And she let the flowers fall from her hand. “Let’s get this over with.”
