Take my hand

Summary:

The Red String of Fate, also referred to as the Red Thread of Marriage, amongst other names, is a famous east Asian belief, originating from Chinese mythology. Simply put, it is an invisible red thread which that ties people who are fated to be.
The people whose strings are connected, are destined to be together, the time, place, circumstances, it is all irrelevant. The cord can stretch, can tangle, but will never snap.

Work Text:

a scribe and an architect in one universe
an author and tattoo artist in another
at first glance,
the pair have nothing in common

perhaps it is true
they are different
but they are compatible
in the ways that matter

his tender emotions and compassionate love
softens his partners intuitive logic
the warm blond tones, brightens the usual cool gray atmosphere
bright smiles and a loud laugh bounce off walls in a space that is otherwise quiet

his logic helps center the artist
when ones mind is up in the clouds, he is able to bring them back down
aloof to the world, close to only a handful
architects design with stability in mind, yet he provides that by just being

there is a red string of fate
that connects people who are destined to be
the red string connects people who are lovers

the pair in this story
in this universe
are roommates

they have had this discussion
after one too many glasses of wine
does this phenomenon exist

one said it defied logic
the other said it was romantic
it is up to the audience to decide

both admitted to themselves
should it be true
they would not mind finding each other
at the end of their own string
