Chapter 1: Chapter 1
Chapter Text
My family lived with werewolves as our neighbors one thousand years ago. We lived peacefully for over 20 years. Everybody who wasn't wolves went down to the caves to hide on full moons. Our mother, Esther, was a powerful witch but Finn, Kol, and I were the only ones who got their magic. I was more powerful than both of them combined. My older brother, Niklaus, and our youngest brother, Henrik, always wondered what the wolf's transformation was like so one full moon, they snuck out of the caves to watch them transform; Henrik paid the unfortunate price for that. Our whole family was devastated, especially our parents, because they lost their oldest to the plague before they moved to this land. Our father vowed that he wouldn't let anything happen to the rest of his remaining kids. He forced our mother to call upon her black magic to turn us into what is now known as the first-ever vampires, the originals.
They secretly gave us the Petrova doppelganger blood, and then our father drove his sword into our hearts. Our mother is the only one who didn’t change because she wanted to keep her magic, even though she didn’t think to give us the same choice. We became stronger and faster than the wolves, but the sun kept us inside, and our neighbors, who once welcomed us into their homes, could now keep us out. But the bloodlust was the most challenging part for all of us. On top of that, Finn and Kol lost their magic, and so did I, or so we thought. When Niklaus and I made our first kill, we discovered that our mother had an affair with one of the wolves twice.
Mikael was furious and called us abominations. He again forced our mother to call upon her black magic and keep our wolf sides dormant. When I saw my father holding Nik down, something snapped inside me. I could feel my magic explode through my veins. It turned out that I hadn’t lost my magic. But I was too late to stop her from making Niklaus’ wolf side dormant, although it did stop her from doing it to me. The next day, Nik couldn’t control his anger and ripped our mother's heart out of her chest. At first, I was angry at him but realized if she had put the curse on me, I would’ve smacked her head off her shoulders. I helped him convince our siblings that our father had killed her instead. Nik, Elijah, and I helped Rebekah say goodbye to Esther and agreed to stick together, always and forever.
**********************************************
I just moved to a small town in Washington called Forks for a fresh start. My brother, Nik, went to Mystic Falls, Virginia, because of the new Petrova doppelganger. I told him to call if he needed help with anything, and I will be there. Compelled humans were unpacking my stuff into my new house. I didn’t want to get in their way, so I decided to take a walk through the woods. I was hoping to find a lone hiker that I could drink from.
While walking, I noticed it was eerily quiet, like something scared all the animals away. I focused on trying to hear anything when I heard people talking.
“Why are you here?” The girl voiced asked.
“I came as a favor to Victoria.” The male voice said.
“Victoria?” The girl asked, scared. I tilted my head walking closer to them so I could see them noticing that I only heard one set of heartbeats and smelled a sickly sweet scent that I am very familiar with. There was also a hint of wet dog.
“She asked me to see if you were still” He paused, licking his lips while looking her up and down, making me gag. “Under the protection of the Cullens.” Mmm, more cold ones? Interesting. “Victoria feels it’s only fair to kill Edwards, mate, given he killed hers. An eye for an eye.”
“Edward would know who did it! And he’d come after you.” The girl said desperately. I leaned against a tree, watching the cold one and the teenage girl closely, ensuring he didn’t do anything to her.
“I don’t think he will. After all, how much could you mean to him if he left you here unprotected?” Unprotected? Does he not smell the wet dog scent on her? Stupid cold one, I thought while rolling my eyes. “Victoria won’t be happy about me killing you. But I can’t help myself. You’re so mouthwatering.” I have to agree with him on that. She would already be dead if I didn’t have a thousand years of experience with my bloodlust.
“Please, don’t! I mean, you helped us.”
Shh! Don’t be afraid. I’m doing you a kindness. Victoria plans on killing you slowly, painfully, whereas I’ll make it quick. I promise. You will feel….” He didn’t get to finish because I ran to him and started to choke him so hard, his feet lifting him off the ground, and his skin began to crack under my fingers.
“That’s no way to treat a lady.” He looked so frightened; it almost made me smile. I was about to rip his head off but heard the shapeshifters running.
“What a shame; I won’t be the one killing you.” I pouted and threw him across the clearing as the horse size wolves stepped out of the trees. I almost forgot how big they are. The teenage girl gasps in fear and stumbles back. Just before the shifters pounced at the cold one, I grabbed her and ran her away, following her scent to an old orangey/red Chevy truck.
She wavers a little when I set her down next to her truck. I quickly grab her shoulders to steady her. When she gains a little of her color back and looks like she can stand alone, I take a step back from her.
“Are you okay?” I gently ask.
“Um yeah, I’m fine.” She stutters out, leaning back on her truck. “Uhh, who are you?”
“Oh, sorry, I’m Octavia Mikaelson, The original tribrid.” I smile at her, offering her my hand. “Pleasure.”
“I’m Bella Swan.” She says while shaking my hand hesitantly. “ Um, what does the original tribrid mean, and why did you save me?”
“You remind me of someone I used to know.” I simply explained.
“Oh” was all she said, I could tell she was going to ask about the whole tribrid thing again, so I stopped her before she could.
“Well, I should get going.” I turn away from her. “I’m sure we will see each other again soon,” I said over my shoulder. But before I could speed away, she called out.
“Wait!” She waited until I was looking into her eyes to continue. “Thank you.” She said sincerely.
“No problem. After all, us girls have to stick together.” I said, winking at her before I sped away from her to the hospital, where I found a nurse and fed from her. Then I heal and compel her to fill a bag with blood bags. I also compelled her to do this every week and to never tell anyone about it or me.
Once I make it back home, the movers have already left. I put away the blood bags and took out my phone to send a quick text to Nik saying how I made it to Forks safely, sarong the details about Bella, the cold one, and the shifters. He replied with a quick Be safe. I then went through my contacts and pressed cal on the one I was looking for. It rang twice before I heard the familiar sound of my close friend.
“Octavia, it's been too long since we last talked. How are you? Are you okay?” Her voice reached my ear, making me smile.
“I know, it's been so long,” I replied. “And yes, I’m fine. Guess what I just found in Forks, Washington.”
“You know how much I hate the guessing game, O.”
“I know, I know, sorry.” I roll my eyes. “Do you know what happened to your sister once I turned you?”
“No, why.”
“Because I just met a teenage girl named Bella Swan. She looks exactly like you except with brown hair and brown eyes.”
“Wow, I guess she finally got the kids she wanted and continued the family line.”
“Well, Caralyn.” I pause, smiling. “Would you like to come and meet your great great great whatever niece?”
“I will, soon. I just have some stuff to handle and some people to kill.”
“Okay, call if you need any help. Be safe.”
“You too. Bye.”
With that out of the way, I head upstairs to my new room and pick out an outfit for my first day of high school tomorrow.
**********************************************
Being over 1,000 years old, pulling into a high school parking lot is weird, but I wanted to know what it's like to be an average human teenager for once, plus it could be fun. All the student's eyes were on my car the second I pulled in, and they turned onto me when I stepped out. I could feel their jealous and lustful eyes as I walked across the lot and into the building. I saw Bella Swan in the sea of students and sent her a wink and a smile. Once I made it into the school. I walked into the room labeled office, where a middle-aged woman with reddish hair and big round glasses sat behind a desk.
"Oh, you must ne the new student, Octavia Mikaelson." She said, smiling probably the most fake smile I have ever seen. I rolled my eyes before quickly matching her fake smile.
"Yes, I am. I'm here for my schedule."
"Of course, let me pull it up." She began to type annoyingly on her keyboard, making me sigh. "Well, it seems that you are missing some important documents, and I can't give you your schedule until you have those."
I leaned down so I was directly looking into her eyes. "Please, look again. I'm sure everything you news is there." I compelled her. She stared blankly for a second before flashing me a smile and turning back to her computer.
"Oh yes, it looks like everything is here. Let me print out your schedule and a school map." When she handed me my schedule, I thanked her and walked out of the office into the now-full hallway. I looked down at my schedule and saw that I had history first. That class should be extremely easy since I lived through it all.
*************************************************************
It is now the fourth period, and I have art. When I walked in, the teacher saw me instantly and smiled the first genuine smile I had seen today. Good, the first person that doesn't make me want to gauge my eyes out and eat them.
"Hi, you must be Octavia. I'm Mrs. Smith. My class is very easy as long you do the artwork I give you, so you should be able to pass with flying colors. You can go sit down next to Isabella Swan." She said kindly. I smiled at her and turned to see Bella just out the window with a blank look. She didn't notice me when I reached the desk beside her.
"Bella" She jumped when I said her name. She turns, startled. "Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." I
smile gently at her. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah. I'm fine. I just was zoned out." I sit down next to her. "Thank you again for yesterday."
"No problem. As I said, us girls have to stick together." She smiles a small smile. "So, I think we should talk during lunch."
"Yeah, that would be good." Bella nodded her head and stared out the window again. I have a couple of questions for her: why was she in that meadow with that cold one? How much does she know? How does she know about the supernatural? And why does she look so depressed?
******************************************************************
After art, Bella and I walk side by side together to the cafeteria, both rolling our eyes at the annoying human stares. We go to get our food. Bella seems surprised to see me filling my tray with food. She is used to vampires not being able to eat human food. I got extra food because I noticed that she only got water. I follow her to an empty table away from everyone. I can still feel the human's eyes on the back of my head. God, they must really have boring lives. Once we sat down, Bella was the first to speak.
"Um, yesterday you said that you were the Original Tribrid. W-what does that mean?" She stuttered nervously.
"Bella, I promise to answer any of your questions if you eat a little," I said while pushing my tray so it was in the middle of us. "Also, if you answer my questions." She nodded, grabbed a pizza slice, and started eating it, making me smile. "So, I'm one of the Original vampires, and no, not the same type of vampires you seem to know of." Bella's eyes grew three times their size.
"You mean that there are two types of vampires?"
"Yes, the short story is that over 1,000 years ago, my younger brother died from a werewolf-" Bella cut me off.
"Wait, werewolves?"
"Yes, werewolves and no, not shapeshifters, though I think you would know about them soon," I said, making her look extremely confused. "Anyway, my parents didn't want to lose another child after Henrik died. So my father convinced my mother to use her black magic." I could tell she was going to interrupt me again. "Before you interrupt, yes, my mother was a powerful witch. She used black magic and turned us into the Original vampires. They slipped us some of the doppelganger's blood, and then our father drove his sword through our chests." Bella's eyes widened, and pity shined through. "To complete the process, he forced us to drink blood from a human when we woke up." I could tell Bella was still processing the information, so I sat back and continued to eat.
"You said you were a Tribrid." She finally said after a couple of minutes. "What does that mean?"
"After we turned, the bloodlust was very hard to control. My brother, Niklaus, and I killed for the first time; we discovered that our mother had an affair with one of the werewolves." I smile at Bella, seeing her reaction. "That's how you trigger the wolf gene. You have to take a human life. We became both vampire and wolf, Hybrids."
"Wow, that's kinda cool."
"Yeah, it is. Anyway, when our father found out. He always hated Nik for some reason, but that hate multiplied and turned onto me. "I was looking down at my tray of food so that I couldn't see the look of pity on her face. "He called us abominations and once again forced our mother to cast a curse that would make our wolf sides dormant." I felt her grab my hand, making me look back at her.
"That's horrible. How can parents do that to their children."
"Bella, I have been asking that question for over a thousand years." I smile gently at her. "When I saw my sorry excuse of a father holding Nik down, I snapped and felt my magic flood my veins."
"Wait, your magic?"
"Oh yes, growing up, only Finn, Kol, and I got magic, but when we turned, we lost our magic. I somehow kept my magic. Kol took it the hardest. But I was too late to stop her from putting the curse on Nik. Although, it stopped her from putting it on me."
"Your mother sounds like a bitch." Bella said, making me laugh and nod my head. "But how did you keep your magic, and Kol and Finn didn't?"
"Well, we figured out I was a rare witch called a siphoner. Before I turned, I was siphoning from my untriggered wold side."
"Wait, what's a siphoner?"
"Siphoners are a type of witch that is born without the ability to generate their own magic but possess a very rare power that allows them to siphon magic from other sources, so any supernatural creature or anything that has magic and use that magic as their own," I explain. "They are considered abominations by many witches. I guess that really makes me an abomination." I bitterly smile.
"Octavia……." Bella began.
"Bella, it's fine." I wave her off. "I have had a thousand years to get used to it." Bella stayed quiet, but I didn't know that she promised to find a way to change how I saw myself.
"So, how many siblings do you have?" She asked, obviously changing the subject.
"I have four older brothers, Finn, Elijah, Nilkaus, and Kol. And one older sister Rebekah. Then the youngest, Henrik, who died, which I told you before, and the oldest, Freya, who died before Elijah was even born, Finn was about 4ish."
"What powers do your type of vampire have?" She asked, suddenly very intrigued.
"Mind compulsion, super strength, super speed, dream manipulations, illusions, fast healing, and enhanced senses. We are more like the traditional type of vampire."
"Mm, so like stakes can kill you?"
"Well, yes, except us Originals. We are much harder to kill?" I smirk.
"What about the sun?"
"We burn, fire can kill almost everything, but witches can put a spell on jewelry that has lapis lazuli that protects them. I don't need one because of my wolf side, my siblings do, but they won't permanently die; they will regenerate."
"Crucifixes?"
"Decorative." I laugh.
"Holy water?"
"Drinkable. However, vervain is a potent herb and a vampire's weakness. If a vampire physically contacts vervain in any form, it will burn them. If a vampire ingests vervain, the vampire's throat will be burned, and they will become feverish and extremely weak. If a human ingests or holds vervain somewhere in or on the body, the human is protected from vampire compulsion."
"Mm, interesting." Bella hummed. "Mirrors?"
"You really think my hair will look this good if I couldn't see my reflections?"
"Regular vampires can only compel humans and can't compel any other supernatural creature. However, us originals can compel humans and regular vampires."
"Wow."
"I know we are awesome," I say while putting a french fry in my mouth.
"Hey, how can you eat? I thought vampires couldn't eat human food, that it tastes like dirt."
"Oh, only the cold ones can't eat human food. I guess when I created them, I messed up something with the spell." I muttered the last part to myself, but she seemed to hear me because her face switched between shock and confusion.
"Hold on. You created them?"
"I was bored one day about 950 years ago. I created a spell to make a different type of vampire who can go out in the sun without a witch's help, but they sparkle instead. I thought that was pretty funny." I chuckled. "The type of vampire with bloodlike red eye's when they drink human blood, but have golden eye's if they choose to drink animal blood. Who have venom running through their veins, making them feel like stone and ice-cold to the touch. I also thought it would be cool if some had special powers." I could tell Bella was still trying to process everything, but I kept talking. "The first one I created was named Aro, a random guy from a nearby village. It took three days for the transformation to be completed. He didn't have fangs or a vampire face." I showed her mine, making her gasp. "He stayed with me for about three years, and during that time, we found out Aro had a gift, to see everything you ever thought or saw. Over those years, he created more of his kind, Caius and Marcus. They now are sort of the vampire government, where they rule above all the cold ones." I laughed. "They even tried to rule over us nightwalkers. That didn't last long."
"Wow, that's a lot of information to process at once." She said like she just sat through math class.
"So the cold ones exist because you were bored."
"I mean when you put it like, but yeah, pretty much." We stared at each other for a second before we busted out laughing. Making the other students jump and stare at us in shock which made us laugh even harder.
The bell interrupted us, signally that we had to go to class, making us groan. However, we found out that we share the remaining classes. So we kept talking throughout them. She told me all about the Cullens, how she was Edward's mate and blood singer, and the whole James thing, about how they left after Jasper lost control. When she talked about Jasper, I felt a little flutter in my stomach……. Weird. I also promised her that I would punch Edward for leaving her in the woods. I mean, how stupid can one be? She could have frozen to death, or James' mate found her.
*******************************************************************
At the end of the school day, Bella was walking me to my car. She was reticent and looked like she wanted to ask me something.
"Isabella," She turned to look at me. "I could tell you want to ask me a question, come out with it already."
"Why did you save yesterday? I'm grateful and everything, but from what you told me, I gathered that you Originals are ruthless and cruel."
"That's true. We are, so don't get on my bad side." Bella visibly gulped. "But you remind me of my best friend from the 1700s. Also, you proved that you weren't a completely annoying human today."
"Oh, um, thanks," Bella whispered while we smiled.
"Well, if that is all the questions you have today. I have to get going. Being around many humans all day and your mouthwatering scent made me starving." I could feel my face heating up, meaning that my vampire face was showing, and my fangs were out as I looked around at the teenagers leaving the school.
"O-oh my god, stop that." She smacked my arm. "Go get a blood bag or whatever." She looked around nervously, making sure no one saw.
"Jeez, relax, Bells." I roll my eyes. "I'm over a thousand years old; I can control my thirst." I turn around and hop in my car, saying bye to Bella, pull out of the parking lot, and drive home. Once I reach my house, I down a blood bag, choose a book I have read hundreds of times and relax for the day.
Chapter 2: Chapter 2
Chapter Text
I’ve been in Forks for a couple of weeks now. When people say that nothing ever happens in small towns, believe them. To say I was bored was an understatement. The only thing interesting was keeping Bella from accidentally killing herself. However, it got somewhat interesting when Bella finally learned about the shapeshifters. I haven’t got the pleasure of meeting them, but Bella said that they smelt my scent in the woods and are trying to find out who and what it's coming from. I wanted to spice things up a little, so I’m currently standing by the edge of their territory, waiting for them to notice. It seemed that none of them were around, making me pout.
I was now sitting down by the stream, very interested in the frog staring back at me. My thoughts were interrupted by a scream that sounded much like Bella's. Without a second thought, I rush towards where the scream came from. Since I saved her, Bella and I have gotten close. I reached the La Push beach in just a few seconds and saw Bella lying on the sand, unconscious, with a shifter performing CPR on her. I quickly ran to them and kneeled next to Bella.
“What happened?” I asked the shifter. I think his name is Jacob.
“Go away, leech.” He glared at me. “We don’t need your help.” I released a low hiss with my vampire face showing. He looked like he had peed himself and got a shade lighter. He was so scared that he didn’t notice that I moved closer to Bella. I hovered my hands over her and whispered a spell under my breath that expelled the water out of Bella’s lungs.
“O-Octavia? Jake?” Bella stuttered out.
“How did you-” Jacob started to ask, but I quickly stopped him, muttering Silencio while clenching my fist, making his mouth disappear.
“Bella, what the bloody hell were you thinking?” I shouted. Jacob was clasping at where his mouth usually was, trying to speak, panicking, that he didn’t notice that another shifter was approaching.
“Take her home. I’m gonna go help over at Harry’s place.” The shifter yelled, only sparing a glance at me. I wonder what happened that was so bad that he didn’t care about an unknown vampire being on his territory and that one of his pack members no longer had a mouth.
“What happened at Harry’s?” Bella voiced my thoughts. Jacob turned to me with a pleading look, motioning to his mouth.
“Oh, right, sorry.” I unclenched my fist. Jacob sighed in relief now that his mouth was back and turned to Bella with a sad expression.
“Harry Clearwater had a heart attack. Charlie and my dad are at Harry’s place with his family.”
“Is he okay?” Bella asked.
“He’s gone,” Jacob said, blinking back tears. Aw, he kind of looks like a little puppy. “Come on. I’ll give you something to dry off on and drive you home.”
**********************************************************
On the way to Bella’s, Jacob was driving Bella’s truck with Bella in the middle and me on the passenger side. He kept on glaring at me over Bella’s head. It started to annoy me. When I was about to snap, Bella began to speak, drawing Jacob's attention to her.
“God, my hands are freezing.”
“Hundred and eight degrees over here.” Bella leaned closer to him, wrapping her arms around his arm. Making me roll my eyes and gag.
“It must be nice not getting cold.”
“It's a wolf thing,” Jacob said, making me mumble shapeshifter, but they both ignored me.
“No, it's a Jacob thing.” I stopped listening to them because the conversation started to bore me. I must have zoned out because the next thing I know is, Bella thanking Jacob and nudging me out of the car. Before I could open the door, Jacob reached across us and stopped me by grabbing my arm. I was about to rip off his arm, but he began to explain.
“There’s another vampire here.” When he said that, I sniffed a little and noticed the sweet scent of a cold one.
“How do you know,” Bella asked.
“Because I can smell it.”
“Are you sure it’s not Octavia?” My eyebrows reached my hairline when Bella asked that. I do not smell like a cold one.
“Yes, she doesn’t smell like the others,” Jacob explained, making me nod my head in agreement. “I’m getting you out of here.”
“Wait, that’s Carlisle’s car.” If I didn’t have vampire speed, Bella would have stumbled over me to get out of the car. Bella started to run towards her house, but Jacob stopped her again.
“Bella, if they’re back, I can’t protect you here.” That made me scoff, I could protect her better than anyone alive.
“It's okay. You don’t have to.”
“And I would protect her,” I said, waving a little. If they heard me, they just ignored me. Well, that's just rude.
“Bella, you’re about to cross a line.”
“Then don’t draw one.” Bella started to run inside.
“Jacob, I will protect her.” He once again ignored me and slammed the car door shut. I rolled my eyes and caught up with Bella, who was frozen in her entryway.
“Alice!” Bella screamed while she tackled a small pixie-like cold one into a hug.
“Bella,” Pixie said in shock. “You’re dead.”
“What are you…..” Bella seems confused. I put it together, though. Bella told me that Alice could see the future, so I’m assuming she saw Bella jump off that cliff but obviously didn’t see Jacob pull her out.
“Would you like to explain to me how you’re alive?”
“What?”
“I saw a vision of you. You jumped off a cliff. Why in the hell would you try to kill yourself? I mean, what about Charlie? What about……..?” While Aice was asking Bella questions, I went over to where Charlie kept the alcohol and poured myself a glass of bourbon.
“I didn’t try to kill myself. I was cliff jumping. Recreationally! It was fun.”
“I have never met anyone more prone to life-threatening idiocy,” Alice muttered, making me hum in agreement.
“Did you……. Did you tell him?” Bella stuttered. I assume she was talking about Edward. I was now on my 2nd glass of bourbon. Keeping Bella alive was stressful, jeez.
“No. He only calls me once every few months. He said he wants to be alone.” Alice looked sad, but that didn’t last long when her face turned disgusted. “Ew, what is that God-awful wet dog smell?”
“That’s probably me,” Bella said, removing her jacket.
“Or it's Jacob,” I added, setting down my class. Alice turned to me like she just noticed I was there. Wow, talk about keen vampire senses.
“Jacob, who? Wait, who are you?”
“Jacob’s kind of a werewolf.” Oh my god, how many times do I have to say shapeshifter? “And that’s Octavia Mikaelson.” Bella introduced me while I wiggled my fingers in Alice’s direction. I saw recognition and a little fear in her eyes, making me smirk. However, she quickly shook it off and turned back to Bella.
“Ugh! Bella! Werewolves are not good company to keep!” Um, rude.
“Speak for yourself.” All three of us turned to see Jacob. “I had to see that you were safe.” He said, looking at Bella.
“I thought you couldn’t protect me here?”
“Guess I don’t care,” Jacob said, making me roll my eyes, let out a big sigh, and pick up the whole bottle of bourbon and chug it.
“Well, I’m not going to hurt her.” The offense was evident in Alice’s voice.
“No, you’re just a harmless Cullen. We’re talking about the other bloodsucker who tried to kill Bella because of you.” At first, Alice looked at me, but Bella quickly shook her head. I feigned an offended look.
“Victoria?”
“Yeah, Victoria has been around,” Bella said weakly.
“I didn’t see her. I didn’t see you getting pulled out of the water, either. I can’t see past you and your pack of mutts.” Alice sneered at Jacob.
“Don’t make me mad,” Jacob started to shake. I quickly grabbed Bella and pulled her behind me, which didn’t go unnoticed by Alice.
“Um, hello, human within five feet from you,” I said, motioning to Bella. “Will you calm yourself, or do I have to knock you out.” Jacob took a deep breath and stopped shaking. I guess Alice thought that Bella and Jacob should speak alone because she looked at me and nodded to me to follow her.
“We will give you two a minute,” Alce said to Bella. I looked at Bella, giving her a look that asked if she was okay with Jacob alone. When she nodded, I went to follow Alice out.
“You’re gonna come back, right?”
“As soon as you let the dog out.” I couldn’t stop the chuckle that left my mouth once Alice said that. We were outside for a minute, and Alice hadn’t taken her eyes off of me.
“Oh my god, what?” I groaned, annoyed.
“I’m just wondering why one of the Originals is in Forks.”
“Oh, so you do know who I am.”
“Carlisle told us about you and your family. He learned from the Volturi.” I rolled my eyes at the mention of them. “So, what are you doing here? If you don’t mind me asking.”
“It’s fine. I just wanted to feel like a normal teenager for once.” She seemed to be okay with that answer because she nodded and looked away for a second, lost in thought.
“I saw what you did back there.” She must have seen my confused face because she continued. “When you pulled Bella behind you. I heard that you Originals were supposed to be heartless monsters.” I smiled and laughed a little.
“We are. So don’t get on my bad side.” She nodded at that and asked me another question.
“Aro told Carlisle that you are the Original Tribrid, but when Carlisle asked what that meant, he didn’t tell him. So what does it mean?”
“I am a vampire, witch, and werewolf all together, hence Tribrid.”
“How is that even possible.”
“That’s a story for another time. And before you ask, no, I’m not the same type of werewolf Jacob is. He’s not even a werewolf. He’s a shapeshifter that turns into a wolf. The tribes in SouthEast Asia turn into tigers.” Her eyes widened in shock. “Werewolves trigger the gene by taking a human life, whether it's an accident or not. They only shift when it's a full moon. The shift is so painful some die during their first time, and they also aren’t in control when they are in wolf form. I am currently the only one who can control the shift, but when my brother breaks his curse, he will be able to also.” Alice was quiet for a short period.
“Oh, what werewolves have to go through is horrible.” I nodded in agreement. “Um, I think I had a vision of you.”
“Wait, what? When?” I stood up straight, very intrigued.
“It was my first vision after I turned. It was only a couple of seconds long. It was a blurry image of you kissing-” She stopped mid-sentence with a faraway look on her face, but her eyes rapidly looked back and forth. She snapped out of it as quickly as it started. She looked horrified and ran inside for Bella with me on her heels.
“Bella, it's Edward. He thinks you’re dead. Rosalie told him why I came here.”
“Why would you…? Why didn’t you let me speak to him?” She yells at Jacob.
“He didn’t ask for you.” Yeah, like that's a good reason, I scoff. He turned to me with a glare, but my glare made him take a step back.
“I don’t care.”
“Bella, he’s going to the Volturi. He wants to die too.” Alice said sadly.
“He left you, Bella. He didn’t want you anymore, remember.”
“Wow, way to rub salt in her wound, Jacob,” I murmured.
“I’m not gonna let him kill himself out of guilt.” Bella pulls a pad and paper from the desk drawer and starts writing.
“What about your Dad?”
“I’m eighteen. I’m legally free to go, and I left a note.” Alice and Bella walk out of the house with Bella pulling me along and Jacob hot on our tails, still begging to say. When we got to Carlisle’s car, Bella pushed me into the back and took the passenger seat. Alice was about to drive away but was stopped when Jacob reached through her window, grabbing her hand. The look on her face was so hilarious that I laughed, making them all look back at me.
“Eeeesh, sorry,” I mumble and wave my hand, telling them to continue.
“Please, Bella. Just stay here. If not for Charlie, for me.”
“I gotta go.” Great, now I gotta go my own way is stuck in my head. I started to hum it, causing Alice to glance back at me with a small smile.
“I’m begging you, please.”
“Bye, Jacob,” Bella said, looking back at me with a silent question. I sighed and flicked my wrist, making Jacob stumble a few feet away. Alice wasted no time and sped away as fast as she could. She’d been driving for a few minutes when she turned to me.
“So, why are you coming with us,” Alice asked curiously.
“Did you not notice Bella dragging me out of the house and into the car?”
“I did, but you could have stopped her anytime.”
“Well, these past weeks, I have known Bella. She somehow managed to squeeze her way onto the list of people I actually care about.” Bella turned to me and smiled. “Plus, it's been a while since I last saw Aro,” I said with a smirk.

Bella and I are standing outside the airport in Italy, waiting for Alice to get a car. Bella couldn’t stop pacing and worrying about Edward.
“What if we are too late?”
“Bella, we are going to make. Calm down.” I rolled my eyes. Bella stayed quiet for a second before continuing to worry. “Bella, I can compel you to stop worrying if you want.” She looked like she was considering it, but Alice came speeding down the road before she could answer. She came screeching to a halt before us, telling us to get in. I quickly used my speed to get Bella in the front seat before sitting in the back.
“I’m guessing you didn’t rent this car?” Bella muttered after we drove for a couple of minutes.
“I figured you wouldn’t oppose a grand theft auto.”
“Not today.” Alice and I glanced at each other through the mirror, noticing that Bella was starting to freak out even more. I leaned up and grabbed Bella’s hand.
“Calm down. Everything will be fine.” My hand glowed red, a calming spell I used on my siblings when they had difficulty controlling their emotions. I see Alice going into a vision out of the corner of my eye. “Hey, Pixie, do you have news that will make her calm down a little.” They both ignored the nickname.
“They refused him. He’s going to make a scene. Show himself to humans.”
“Why do the young ones always want to cause a scene?” I groaned, leaning back in my seat. I didn’t miss the way Bella’s heart picked up in speed.
“Alice, you gotta hurry up,” Bella exclaimed. I looked out the windshield, leaning forward again, pointing at the big castle surrounded by old-looking buildings.
“There’s Volterra.”
“Why are they all in red?” Bella asked once we got closer.
“San Marcos Day festival,” Alice explained. “They’re commemorating the expulsion of the vampires from the city. It’s the perfect setting.”
“The Voltori will never let him get far enough to reveal himself,” I added.
“We have five minutes,” Bella said anxiously while looking at the time.
“Bella, breathe.”
Once we reached the streets of Volterra, Alice had to slow down and keep beeping the horn for people to move out of the way. The guards flagged us down for us to stop. I quickly hop out of the car and begin compelling them to let us go. I heard Alice tell Bella that she had to go alone. She didn’t have to be told twice because she quickly jumped out and ran towards the clock tower. Once the guards let us go, I sped into the passenger seat and helped Alice find a place to park the car.
******************************************************************
Alice and I are walking quickly through the streets of Volterra, trying to get to Edward and Bella. We reached the bell tower and could hear Bella and Edward talking to two Volturi guards. I quickly broke the handle of the door and pushed it open.
“Come on, guys. It's a festival. We wouldn’t want to make a scene.” I say warningly, walking in front of Edward and Bella, flashing my vampire face. Alice went to stand next to Bella. The two guards recognized me, taking two steps back with fear in their eyes.
“We wouldn’t.” Replied the bigger one. He failed to hide the quiver in his voice, making my smirk even bigger. I can feel Edward looking at me with interest and a little fear himself.
“Enough.” A sharp voice cut through the tension in the room. Ah, Jane. When she walked out of the shadows, her steps faltered a little at my sight. She recovered quickly, sending me a tiny smile. I just continued glaring. “Aro sent me to see what's taking so long.”
“Oh well, we shouldn’t keep Aro waiting,” I said sarcastically. “Let’s go.” I began walking.
“Let's.” Jane began leading the way.
“Just do as she says. Go ahead.” Edward whispered to Bella.
“Are you scared?” Bella says back.
“Are you?”
“No,” Bella said, convincing no one.
I turned to look at them. “You have nothing to fear from them when I am here.” I stop and let them go ahead of me. We continue walking down the dark hallway. Edward turns to look at me after a couple of moments.
“You are Octavia Miikaelson.” It wasn’t a question.
“The one and only.” I flash him my best smile.
“From what I could tell from Alice’s mind, you care for Bella and have been watching out for her for the last couple of weeks.” I stare at him to continue. “All I’m trying to say is thank you.” I nod at him. We reached a small elevator that we all had to cram inside. There was opera music playing. I could barely hold in my laughter and turned to Jane, who was beside me.
“Really?” Jane just shrugged. The doors finally opened to a waiting room. I ignored the others talking and looked around to see how much had changed since I was last here. I did catch that the secretary lady was dessert. When we reached the throne room, Jane pushed open the doors. I went in last, just catching what Alec was saying.
“Sister, we sent you out to get one, and you bring back two and a half.”
“Aw, don’t forget about little ol’ me.” I cut in, my voice holding power and strength. They all stiffen to statues, all-knowing who I am. Aro was the first to snap out of it and stepped towards me.
“I don’t believe it, Octavia Mikaelson, our creator. What a lovely surprise. The last time you visited was 250 years ago.” I could feel Edward and Alice’s confused and shocked eyes on me. I guess Aro didn’t tell Carlisle about me creating them.
“Hello, Aro.” I looked behind him at Marcus, completely ignoring Cauis. I never liked that blonde-headed weirdo. “Marcus!” I screamed, making a few people flinch, mainly Bella. I sped into his arms. Marcus and I had a father-daughter type of relationship. He treated me like a daughter more than Mikael ever did. “Oh, I missed you. Do you have a phone? We have to keep in touch.”
“I missed you too, Octavia. And here.” He handed me a tiny piece of paper with his phone number. I hugged him one last time and returned to Bella and Alice’s side.
“What a happy surprise! Bella is alive, after all. Isn’t that wonderful? I love a happy ending. They are so rare.” Aro stepped towards Edward grabbing his hand to use his power. “La Tue Cantante. ‘Your Singer’ Her blood appeals to you so much it makes me thirsty.” Bella reached for my hand. “How can you stand to be so close to her?” Aro asked in wonder.
“It’s not without difficulty.”
“Yes, I can see that.”
Aro can read every thought I ever had. With one touch.” Edward answered Bella’s unasked question. “And now you know everything. So, get on with it.” He glared at Aro.
“You’re quite the soul reader yourself, Edward. However, you can’t read Bella’s thoughts. Fascinating! I would also love to see if you are an exception to my gifts.” Aro said, stepping closer to Bella. “Would you do me the honor?” Bella looked at Edward and then at me. We both nodded to say it was okay. Once Bella placed her hand in his, it only took a second for Aro to have his answer. “Interesting. I see nothing. I wonder if…….. Let’s see if she is immune to all our powers.” He looked towards Jane. “Shall we, Jane?” I don’t know why they think they know everything. Bella is immune to the powers of the mind, a mind shield. Jane’s power is to inflict a mental illusion of burning pain. Therefore, it won’t work on Bella. I didn’t stop Jane from trying, but Edward rushed forward toward her.
“Pain.” With that one word, Edward tumbled to the floor, withering in pain dramatically.
“Stop! Stop, please! Stop! Stop! Just stop hurting him, please! Please!” Bella begged Jane. Jane didn’t listen, so I sped in front of Edward. Her power felt like a little tickle in my brain. Aro finally called Jane off.
“Jane?”
“Master?” Ew, master. If anyone were looking at me, they would be able to see the disgusted look on my face.
“Go ahead, my dear,” Aro ordered.
“This may hurt a bit,” Jane warned Bella. No, it won’t. Jane focused on Bella, but obviously, nothing happened. I laughed at the look on her face.
“Remarkable!” She confounds us all.” Well, not all. I could easily get into Bella’s head. “So, what do we do with you now?”
“You already know what you’re going to do, Aro. She knows too much, she’s a liability.”
“That’s true,” Aro turned to one of the guards. “Felix?" Felix took one step, and Edward already began fighting him. He was obviously losing. I really need to teach him how to fight. Bella was screaming for them to stop and to kill her instead. Another guard was holding Alice. Felix was about to rip Edward’s head off. Bella whipped towards me with a pleading look. Ugh, fine.
“That’s enough.” No one seemed to hear me. That angered me. I hate when people ignore me. I speed to Felix and throw him into a wall making the stone crumble to pieces. Another guard, Demetri, went to rush at me. I looked at a random guard by the door, and he burst into flames turning into ash, stopping Demetri in his tracks. “I said, that's enough.” I can see people shiver in fear at the power in my voice. No one seemed to care about the guard I had just killed. Aro nodded at Felix and then the ashes, a distinct order to clean it up. Aro then turned back to Bella which made me and Edward return to her side.
“How extraordinary. You would give up your life for someone like us.” Aro said to Bella. A vampire. A soulless monster.”
“You don’t know a thing about his soul,” Bella said confidently. I must be rubbing off on her.
“And take it from your creator, you guys have souls.”
“Maybe it's one or the other,” Aro said, making me roll my eyes. “This is sadness. If only you intended to give her immortality.”
“Wait! Bella will be one of us. I’ve seen it. I’ll change her myself.” Alice put her hand in Aro’s without hesitation.
“Mesmerizing! To see what you have seen. Before it happens, your gifts will make for an intriguing immortal, Isabella. Go now. Make your preparations. Let’s be done with this. Heidi will arrive any moment. Thank you for the visit.” Aro said, happy that Bella would be a vampire one day.
“We’ll return the favor. I would advise that you follow through on your promise soon. We do not offer second chances.” Cauis said warningly. I scoffed and glared at him.
“I advise you not to get more on my bad side, Cauis. You are lucky I let you live this long. Remember, Mikaelsons aren’t kind to ones on their bad sides, and we definitely don’t forgive and forget.” I said with venom in my voice. I saw the genuine terror in his eyes. I then completely change my face into a bright smile and turn to Marcus. “Bye, Marcus! Talk to you later.” I waved and turned on my heel, nodding to Bella, Alice, and Edward for them to leave. Aro bid us goodbye. Walking down the hallway, a group of humans is following Heidi. When we passed them, I grabbed a cute guy and compelled him to follow us. Intending to do the grab, eat, erase method on him later. Edward pushes Bella to walk faster, but I know she can still hear the screams of the people once they get to the throne room. I see Edward's disapproving stare at me. “Don’t worry, I won’t kill him. I’m just hungry.” I assured him.
