Work Text:

It's a Saturday night and Seungkwan and Jeonghan's cold, ancient apartment is packed to bursting with all their teammates. The floorboards are protesting loudly under the weight of so many feet and several times Seungkwan has had to herd people away from spots that make him particularly nervous with their creaking. The place is structurally sound, of course; the company certainly would not have allowed them to move in if that weren't the case, but Seungkwan has never been accused of being a particularly rational or calm person. He worries, it's what he does.

Everyone is here to help decorate for Christmas and to have a few drinks and some food. It's the closest they'll get to a Christmas party with their limited time off during such a busy season, but it's cosy and Seungkwan is having fun as long as he can put aside his anxieties. Seokmin and Seungcheol are loudly debating which is the best Christmas movie over on the sofa, while Jeonghan watches in amusement, occasionally contributing his two cents just to spark further disagreement. Minghao sits quietly at Seokmin's side attempting to calm him down when he gets particularly heated about Seungcheol's opinions on Elf.

Soonyoung has enlisted Wonwoo's help in hanging some mistletoe in the doorway from the hallway to the kitchen, presumably hoping that at some point he can trick Jihoon into getting stuck underneath it with him, and although Seungkwan thinks he’d have better luck convincing him to wear a full reindeer onesie than to kiss in front of all of them, he has to admit he admires Soonyoung's persistence. There’s also a huge pot of sujeonggwa gently boiling on the stove under Mingyu’s close supervision and it’s making the whole room smell like cinnamon and ginger. Seungkwan sidles up next to him, holding out his cup to silently request a refill and Mingyu smiles indulgently, ladling more of the warm, spiced punch out for him.

“It’s nice having everybody together like this,” Mingyu murmurs, just for Seungkwan, and he hums happily.

“I don’t know how we’re not sick of each other,” he says softly, and Mingyu just glances pointedly at Joshua, who looks like it’s taking all of his willpower not to slap a hand over Junhui’s mouth as he rambles on in Joshua’s ear about something or other, leaning so far into his space that he may as well be in Joshua’s lap. Seungkwan laughs.

“Ten thousand won says they finally kiss at New Years,” he challenges.

“Ha!” Mingyu exclaims. “I’ll take that action. It’s definitely happening before then.”

Seungkwan smirks, and tilts his cup of punch towards Mingyu in lieu of a handshake.

“Alright. I’m gonna go get my fluffy socks,” he declares, pushing away from the kitchen counter, “My feet are fucking freezing.”

Mingyu sends him off with a pat on the butt, which Seungkwan swats away fussily before he sets off for his bedroom. Chan calls his name as he goes, and when Seungkwan turns his head to see what he wants, he walks right into something large and broad and very solid. The something in question makes an “oof!” but catches Seungkwan by his arms as he turns back in surprise. Seungkwan glances up, eyes wide and mouth parted, about to curse out whoever bumped into him, conveniently ignoring the fact that he wasn’t looking where he was going – but then he realises it’s Hansol.

“Oh! Hansollie, I’m so sorry,” Seungkwan blusters, and mortifyingly he feels his cheeks heating with the proximity. He’s practically plastered to Hansol’s chest, and Hansol’s hands are holding him there with a strong grip.

“I was just going to get my socks,” he attempts to explain, but Hansol is looking at him so intensely that it feels like he’s trying to burn holes into Seungkwan’s face.

Seungkwan can’t figure out why the atmosphere feels so electric all of a sudden, but finally Hansol tears his eyes away to glance above them, and as Seungkwan follows his gaze he realises their mistake. They’re right in the doorway.

Directly under the mistletoe.

“Oh, that’s– I mean we don’t have to actually– it’s just a stupid tradition we can just ignore–” Seungkwan says, tripping over his tongue as his cheeks grow even pinker and Hansol stares at with even more intensity than before, which Seungkwan didn’t think was even possible.

He squeaks when suddenly he feels a hand on his cheek; no, hands on both cheeks, and Hansol finally breaks his silence.

“Can I?” He asks softly, and Seungkwan’s brain goes blank.

“Uh… Wh- can you? Um,” he says intelligently, but before he can get a full sentence out, Hansol is silencing him with a brief, warm press of his lips.

Hansol’s kisses are just like him; gentle, uncomplicated, sweet. He pulls away after a few seconds, eyes searching Seungkwan’s curiously, and Seungkwan can’t help it. He wraps his arms around Hansol’s neck and stands on his tiptoes to press their lips back together, and Hansol moves his hands from Seungkwan’s face to instead rest carefully on his waist. He pulls Seungkwan’s body against his, and sucks Seungkwan’s lower lip into his mouth, biting at it softly before they pull away again, a little more reluctantly this time.

"That… that was…" Seungkwan murmurs breathlessly, and the smile Hansol gives him would, on anybody else, be small and unimpressive, but on his face it's blinding.

"Merry Christmas, Seungkwannie," he whispers, and with one last peck to Seungkwan's lips, leaves him reeling in the doorway as he goes to join the party.
