Work Text:
Adam and Nigel sat down on the couch together and switched the TV on.
“Now, Adam, gorgeous… Remember, this is fiction, alright? Fiction”, he switched the TV on.
“I know, Nigel”, he responded, swaying his legs over Nigel’s lap. The older man put his big hand on his boyfriend’s thigh.
“Okay, but you did whine when we watched ‘Star Trek’, gorgeous”, Nigel nuzzled at Adam’s curls.
“Then, maybe, let’s not watch ‘Star Wars’? And, instead… Something else?”, he suggested.
“And what do you want to watch?”
“Oh”, Adam’s face fell; he forgot to consider that.
“Yeah, I thought so”, Nigel chuckled. “Alright, no ‘Star Wars’... And you don’t like thrillers or horrors… And I’m not gonna watch the fucking gay pirates or… That one about the fucking demon you so like, and the angel… Also gay… I ain’t fucking watching them again.”
“But I thought you liked ‘Our Flag Means Death’ and ‘Good Omens’!”, Adam’s eyes now resembled those of a puppy.
“I did. But not seven fucking times, gorgeous”, he sighed.
“One, seven is the perfect number, God’s favorite…”
“Don’t quote ‘Good fucking Omens’ at me…”
“Wasn’t an exact quote, and, two…”
“Yeah?”
“They really are good shows.”
The older man sighed.
“Love, it’s fucking New Year’s Eve.”
“I know.”
“Let’s do something fucking special.”
“I think OFMD and ‘Good Omens’ are pretty special.”
“Not anymore.”
“They’re not new and unexpected, but they are special.”
“Alright, suit yourself… But let’s watch something else, anything.”
“Maybe ‘Love Actually’?”
“Not a romcom, darling.”
“You said ‘anything’...”
The older man sighed again.
“I need a drink”, he got up and went to the kitchen.
“Can you bring me juice?”
“Sure!”, was heard from the kitchen.
Soon, Nigel was back in the room, a glass of orange juice in one hand and a glass filled with amber liquid in the other. Adam chuckled.
“What is it?”, the Romanian asked.
“Your drink is the same colour as your eyes”, the boy responded.
“My fucking eyes?”, Nigel raised his eyebrows, sitting back down next to Adam and handing him his glass. “Without all the… Fucking mushy bits you hate.”
“The pulp?”
“Yeah, that shit.”
Adam sighed, looking through some app on his tablet.
“I still don’t know what to watch”, he said, sipping his juice.
“How about… Uhh…”, he scrolled through the app on Adam’s tablet. “Some film…”
“Yeah…”
“Not a horror or a thriller… Or a romcom…”
“Yeah…”
“So, uh… ‘Labyrinth’?”, he proposed a random film.
“What’s it about?”
“Uhm, it’s about a girl whose brother is abducted to another world by the goblin king… What the fuck is this shit?”, Nigel grimaced.
“Sounds cool.”
“Really?”, the older man raised his eyebrows in disbelief.
“Yeah. And… Is that David Bowie?”
“Ahm… Uh-huh, yep. With Jennifer Connelly.”
“Alright, there’s David Bowie, we’re watching it”, Adam clicked a couple buttons and the film was displayed on the TV.
“You’re fucking fast with those fingers…”, Nigel smirked at his implication.
“Was that an innuendo?”, Adam looked at his boyfriend.
“Yes it was.”
Then, Nigel put his arm around Adam and cuddled up, covering them both with the orange blanket.
The older man pulled out a packet of cigarettes from between the cushions.
“Why do you even keep the cigarettes there? And we said, no smoking inside…”, the younger man reminded Nigel.
“It’s fucking New Year’s Eve, a special occasion!”
“You said so on Christmas Eve, too. And Christmas Day”, Adam sighed, pausing the film.
“I need a fucking smoke and I don’t wanna leave you, gorgeous”, he weaved his fingers through the boy’s hair. The brunette purred and arched into the touch, almost like a cat.
“No, you don’t”, he took the pack from Nigel’s hand and threw it onto the coffee table with surprising carelessness.
“Mm, what are you doing with my fucking cigarettes?”
“Nothing”, he smirked.
“Oh, you little minx, that smirk is irresistible…”, Nigel grinned.
Adam chuckled devilishly, scrambling into Nigel’s lap, front to front.
“Oh, what are you doing, gorgeous?”, a faint flush was visible on the older man’s cheeks.
“I saw this on the Internet…”
“Did your research?”, Nigel was amused and Adam nodded solemnly.
Adam kissed Nigel, gently, as they always would since they became a couple almost six months ago. They would stop at chaste kisses, but now Nigel could feel Adam’s tongue gently prying his lips open so he was most glad to oblige and join their tongues for the first time.
It felt so good, so natural that Nigel - as experienced as he was - couldn’t stop the small sounds of joy and pleasure escaping his mouth and going straight into Adam’s. His boy was surprisingly good at this.
Then, Nigel could feel Adam’s hands travelling and exploring like they never have before - with gentle caresses along his chest, stomach and thighs, each eliciting a small gasp from the older man.
“A-Adam, why didn’t you…”, Nigel trailed off as he felt his boyfriend’s sweet lips right under his ear, where his jaw joined his neck. “Fuck, gorgeous, the things you do to me…”
“Mm, I try”, the younger man hummed and kissed lower on Nigel’s neck.
This went on for the next two hours, the film they were supposed to watch long forgotten. At around eleven, they went out onto the balcony, each a mug of cocoa in hand and Nigel displayed his knowledge of the night sky, making Adam beam with pride at his student.
Soon - way too soon - they saw others shimmying out onto their balconies and the countdown in Romanian began. Adam new the numbers by then, so he knew what was going on.
He and Nigel held hands as zero was heard. They turned to face each other with soft smiles.
“Happy New Year, gorgeous”, Nigel said, cupping Adam’s face with his hands.
“Happy New Year, Nigel”, and they kissed again, pouring all their love, and adoration, and the happiness they knew awaited them, into the kiss.
And then, they smiled, holding each other and watching the fireworks instead of the stars.
They didn’t dare to leave each other’s side that night.
