Work Text:
I’ll Never See You Around
I know that I’m helpless
When you looked right into me.
Your pretty eyes,
Sparkling like Sprite,
Fizzing over, limerence.
Holding on forever,
The can tab still sits
In my heart-shaped box.
What a tragedy:
Without a sound,
You left already.
Just like you said:
You won’t see me around,
Just as I expected,
It’s all gone.
Secretly,
I hoped for another week,
A second chance.
I wanted to tie the thread
To your finger,
But boy;
Your shoulders
Aren’t for me to lean on,
My arms
Will never hold you close.
And it hit me,
The fatal sting of grief
For a love story
That ended before it began.
I can’t ever look at your smile again.
As I run out,
Tears spilling down,
Muddling my face.
The glitter on my hands,
Iridescently broken,
As if they are pieces of you.
It’s over.
It’s over.
It’s truly over.
A forced goodbye
As the wind blows.
I whisper:
“I’ll never see you around.”
