Hunter tried really hard to suppress his tics, often leading to him having awful attacks when he was alone in his room at night.
It was just a fact of his life. It had to be. After all, Belos had made it very clear from an early age that his twitches and strange noises would only earn him violence.
Willow noticed the little twitches and sounds. The smaller ones that he let out because he knew most people wouldn't catch onto them. She'd heard his outbursts from behind bathroom doors.
He stood over her, resting his forehead on hers. It was a quiet, peaceful moment between them after Belos was defeated.
A small whine forced itself out of his throat, followed by a jerk of his head and his heart plummeted.
"Shit" he muttered, eyes going wide as he took a step away from his girlfriend. "Sorry"
"Hey" Willow said gently, reaching out and taking his scarred hands in her own. "It's okay. I don't mind" she told him. She knew? "You can't control it"
"But-"
"Hunter" she said firmly. His mouth snapped shut. A moment passed and he let out a whistle, his head jerking again. "It's okay, I promise" she told him. "You don't have to hide it with me"
"You're sure?"
"I'm positive"
"Oh" Hunter breathed. Slowly, he dropped his mask and a string of tics piled out. His eyes were shut tight as they rolled out of him, afraid to see Willow's reaction. When the outburst receded, he cautiously opened his eyes and looked up at her.
And she was still smiling at him like he was the only man in the whole world.
