Chapter Text
The year was 1980.
The wizarding world of the UK was in the middle of a war that officially started in 1976.
Lord Voldemort and the death eaters VS Albus Dumbledore and the order of the Phoenix.
So many people had died already.
So many people had gone missing already.
But so many people were still having kids.
Lily potter (Nèe Evans) + James Potter = Harry James Potter (31st July 1980)
Hope Lupin (Nèe Howell) + Lyall Lupin = Marek Lupin (22nd june 1980)
Alice Longbottom (nèe Fortescue) + frank Longbottom = Neville Longbottom (30th july 1980)
Molly Waasley (nèe Prewett) + Arthur Weasley = Ron Weasley (1st March 1980)
Rema Kolgrim (nèe Lupin) + Dennis Kolgrim = Arabella and Austin kolgrim (19th june 1979)
Voldemort + Abraxas Malfoy = Lupin and Faulkner (31st October 1980)
But all those births don't matter to this story. The birth that matters happened on the 2nd may 1980. In the middle of nowhere, in a muggle homeless shelter all alone, a middle aged woman, around the age of 54, was in labour. The woman had dirty blonde straight hair that looked like it hadn't been washed or brushed in years. Her hair should have gone way past her shoulders but the knots were making it short. The woman had grey eyes and massive eye bags. The woman was super thin, like you could see her rib cage, and looked sick.
But with one final push, she was a mother. To a tiny baby with grey eyes. The woman wrapped the baby up in a ripped ragged blanket and held the baby to her chest. As the baby stopped crying and started feeding on the weak and low supply of milk from the tired mother, the woman spoke with a quiet, soft voice that could hardly be heard but also sounded like the woman didn't know what she was saying “I'll call you Talia Hazel Burke”
A few hours after the baby was born, the woman and child were kicked out onto the streets because they ‘disturbed the piece’ at the shelter. Back out onto the cold streets with only a ripped black dress, a black cape, the ragged blanket and a disgusting baby grow to their names.
The woman tried to get by. She tried to get a job. She tried to get an apartment. She tried to survive and look after the baby. But all that is hard when you have a baby that is under a year old. When you have nowhere to clean up. When you have no money for anything. When all your records were destroyed. The woman even tried going to the child's father for help. But the father just ignored them. Ignored that they were ever together. Ignored that the child was his. So the father was no help.
As the year went on and the woman was getting sicker and the child was getting sick, the woman had no choice but to go to her brother for help. The brother who destroyed her records. The brother who she tried to lose contact with. The brother who was her last hope.
So in September 1981, the woman went to the place she hoped her brother still lived in. She went to a mansion in Wiltshire, England. The mansion had tall pointy towers and tons and tons of glittering windows. The bricks of the mansion were a beautiful shade of gold. The gardens were filled with beautiful peacocks of different colours and gorgeous flowers. On the side of the path way to the front door, there were two huge hedges covered in beautiful red roses. The mansion was beautiful. The woman arrived at the giant silver gates and walked through the grounds towards the front door. Once she arrives at the door, she places Talia down on the step with a letter and with a weird looking necklace around her neck. She kissed Talia on the head and mumbled “Mama loves you, Talia” before disappearing.
Hours went by before Talia was found but when she was found, she was found by a weird looking creature in a pillow cover who took her straight to the masters of the house. The masters were two men. One man had dark black hair and red eyes. He had really pale skin, almost white and a really small nose. His skin was a contrast to the dark black suit that he was wearing. The other man had shoulder length white wavy hair, white beard and blue eyes. He had tanned caucasian skin with a beautiful complexion. He was also wearing a black suit but he had a black cane with a snake head. “My love, what shall we do?” The white haired man asked. “Read the letter Abraxas” the other man said to the white haired, Abraxas.
Abraxes quickly picked up the letter and read it out loud.
‘Dear Tom,
you my brother and I'm not calling you vol– that other name. It's too hard to spell and I can't sign it. Meet my daughter, Talia Hazel Burke. Please look after her. I am dying. Her father hates us. Look after her please.
Your Sister, M-”
The red eyed man, Tom, set fire to the letter, destroying it before Abraxes could read the name. “Abraxas, you are to raise the girl. How? I don't care. But she will be raised here.” Tom said before leaving.
So Abraxas took Talia in and raised her but Tom never said how to raise the girl and Tom never visits (especially since he ‘died’ at the hands of a toddler in October 1981). So Abraxas gave her the house elves and raised her as a slave.
Talia grew up in the house elves' quarters.
Talia grew up doing house elves jobs.
Talia grew up around elves who only talked about how awesome her uncle was.
Talia grew up to hate Mr (Abraxas) Malfoy because of how mean he is to her.
Talia grew up never knowing anything about her mother.
Talia grew up with only Sherry being the only malfoy-slytherin to be nice to her (and Sherry doesn't even live at the manor).
In July 1991, Talia finally got her ticket out of Malfoy Manor. Even if it was only 10 months of the year. Talia received her letter to Hogwarts school of witchcraft and Wizardry. Talia was going to go to school. But to go to school, Talia needed to be able to read and write and since Abraxes never bothered to teach her in the past 10 years, the house elves had less then a month to teach her. Guess they hoped Talia didn't inherit anything from her mother.
In August 1991, something happened. Talia was just out with a house elf to get everything Talia needed for Hogwarts. Like books, a haircut, clothes, equipment and other stuff. Well while they were out, the blond child bumped into someone. She just walked out of the hair dress (after getting her blond hair cut and styled into wavy shoulder length) and walked straight into an old man with black hair in a dark suit. He scoffed at her. “Watch where you're going little girl. I am Caractacus Burke. I'm far more important than you” the man scoffed before walking away. Leaving Talia in shock to finish her shopping.
