Fuck Rule 12 and Kiss me for Fuck's Sake Jethro

Summary:

Found an ask on Tumblr that didn't get written by the person who got asked and had to do it. Basically Reader gets a new piercing and doesn't tell the team, deciding to see who notices first. It ends with him and Gibbs trying to figure out kissing with a fresh lip piercing. They get the hamg of it fast. No smut.

Work Text:

You smile as you look in the mirror at Marcy’s tattoo and piercings shop, the new snake bite piercings sparkling in the led ring light she recently purchased, “I love them, Marc, amazing as usual.”

Marcy, a 45 year old woman with ink on almost every inch of her body and enough metal to set off TSA from 50 feet away, who is also your best friend of 30 years, gives a cute little curtsy, “Only the best for my favorite customer. Your boss isn’t gonna get mad you got face piercings as a federal agent, is he? I’d hate my hard work going down the drain because of some bureaucratic ‘professionalism’ bullshit.”

You roll your eyes before turning to her, “I cleared it with the big big boys. I can have my face piercings and tattoos as long as I’m a good agent. There’s no way they can fire me after what I’ve done for them anyways.”

She laughs with you before you pay her (extra as well cause you know her and her wife are saving money to have a kid), give her a hug and kiss on the cheek, and go home for some beer and rest. You have work in the morning and you know your new piercings are going to bug you, so you have to make sure you’re really careful not to aggravate them more.

The next day you wake up, take your shower, carefully brush your teeth, eat breakfast, then sanitize your piercings, get dressed for work, then get in your car and drive to the Navy Yard. You didn’t tell any of the team that you were getting new piercings.

‘Hopefully Tony doesn’t make fun of me too much. At least Ziva and Abby will like them,’ you think as you show the guard your badge and she compliments the new metal. You smile to yourself on the way up the elevator, knowing you’re going to be the first one in the office.

Well, other than Gibbs, but you doubt he’s at his desk. He spends the first hours of the morning spying on the team, waiting for an opportunity to walk in at the worst moments.

When the elevator dings, signaling you’re on your floor, and the doors open, you have a stupid smile on your face, thinking about Gibbs. You don’t know how or when you fell for the older silver haired man, but what you do know is you fell HARD. His icy blue eyes and his stare that goes right into your soul.

It drives you crazy.

You snap yourself out of your first daily Gibbs Dream, and take a sip of your water. You made a deal with your ex-wife that for every cup of coffee or caf-pow you drank, you would drink a cup of water.

You and your ex-wife have no ill will towards each other, you had been each other's beard for the military up until it became legal and ‘dont ask dont tell’ died out. Then you divorced and stayed amazing friends. She’s still in the Marines, one of the only women serving in combat in the Middle East. You miss her, but know she’s a capable woman, one of the reasons you agreed to a marriage with her.

You are once again snapped out of your day dream by the elevator, this time Tim coming through the doors. You smile and greet him from your desk, waiting for him to notice the new metal in your face, but he was too preoccupied, greeting you and then going to his computer.

You just smile, deciding to make it a game. Whoever noticed the bling first got a surprise. Obviously your bet was not on Special Agent Timothy McGee, his head wrapped up in someone’s bank statements, probably baddie of the week’s, but that wasn’t your division, so you went back to your very boring bolo updating.

Next to show up was Tony and Ziva, talking loudly about how Gibbs would totally either get crushed or dominate in a fight with Godzilla. Ziva was sure Godzilla would step on Gibbs, even then he would survive he just wouldn’t defeat the Giant Japanese monster god hybrid, while Tony believes Gibbs would stare Godzilla down and make him his pet.

You roll your eyes as McGee distractedly interjects, “Gibbs would never let Godzilla close enough to step on him, Ziva, but I doubt he could break Gidzilla’s will with just a stare. He’d probably blackmail Godzilla into not tearing Tokyo apart before finding a prison to sentence him in.

The bickering continued for a little bit, you adding your idea that Gibbs would snipe Godzilla with the biggest caliber rifle he could find with none of the detectives in the room noticing your piercings.

It was when Tony made a lewd remark about Gibb’s sex life, comparing it to the destruction of Tokyo in the Godzilla movies, that Gibbs walked into the room, smacking the senior field agent in the back of the head and saying to get back to work on the case.

You chuckle, catching the Team Leader’s attention, making him smile and remark on your new mod while passing your desk, “Nice new bling, Marine.”

You smirk, “Thank you sir, I was waiting for someone to notice. Say, sir, how would you defeat Godzilla in a fight?”

The rest of the team tuned in to look at your new jewels, before turning to Gibbs for his reply, “Big gun, snip him out. Easy.”

Tony let out a curse, handing you $20, while Ziva and Tim groan. It just makes you smile wider, your bottom lip aching from the new wounds, before everyone goes back to their jobs. Your typing and water sipping not faltering even as you feel Gibb’s gaze on your lips, looking up to give a coy smirk, showing you caught him, before going back to it.

It was only 17 minutes later when your computer beeped and you clicked on it to see a hit on your bolo for the suspects car. You stand, putting it on the plasma to inform the rest of the team. His car was dumped on the side of a small road in the middle of nowhere, nothing out of the ordinary other than it being dumped.

Gibbs grabbed his coat, gun, and badge, before signaling you to do the same and you did, before following him into the elevator. You lean on the railing and give your boss another smirk. You both knew there was something between you, had even come close to doing something about it before his rushed saying of “Rule 12” before running.

Too bad he can’t run while trapped in an elevator.

He notices the look and is ready to speak before you cut him off, “Don’t even say it Jethro, you haven’t been able to take your eyes off me since you saw my new mod. It’s alright, you can say you like it.”

He sighs before pressing the emergency stop on the elevator, “Rule 12.”

You roll your eyes and scoff, “You know I don’t give a damn about that rule, Jethro. You’re still going to have feelings for me, even if we aren’t dating, or fucking, or whatever I can get my hands on at this point. Might as well have fun with the shit that comes with having feelings. I really like you Jethro, hell, it might even be love at this point, but you won’t even give me the chance to try and figu-”

He cuts you off by grabbing your cheeks, your eyes widening and meeting his as he pulls you close to his face, your noses brushing each other, “I really like you too. That’s what scares me. I was hoping it would go away but it’s just been getting stronger. Then you have to go and get that lip piercing and I can’t stop starin’ at it. I’ve always loved your lips, but the way the hoops make them look now.”

He cuts himself off. Staring down at your newly pierced lips, “How am I even supposed to kiss you with these things?”

You smile widely and chuckle, “Very carefully I assume. We can always practice.”

You bring your hands up to the back of his neck, your right hand running through his short silvery hair and your other going around his shoulders. You use your right hand to draw him down, angling your head to kiss him without the metal getting in the way.

Jethro melts into it, backing you into the elevator wall, before maneuvering in a way that brushes his lips too harshly into your piercings. It makes you take a sharp breath and he pulls away with an apology. You just smile and pull him back in.

You stand in the elevator lightly and awkwardly kissing, trying to avoid the hiss of pain that comes with your new accessory, for a minute or two before separating. You both smile, but it’s Jethro who breaks the silence.

“We should probably go check on that car. People need the elevator, but after work, you can come to my basement and we can talk.”

You smile back to him, “I’d like that.”

He smiles back, “Me too,” and then presses the emergency button again, turning the elevator back on.

You give him another short kiss before the doors open and you make your way to his government car, getting in the passenger seat, a smile on your face the entire way.

Your first kiss with Gibbs may have been awkward as hell, but it’s probably the best kiss you’ve ever had. You look at the man to your left, smiling as he catches you looking before turning to look out the window at the city, thinking about the talk you’re going to have later that night.

For once in your life, being a workaholic, you hope your workday goes by quickly.
