Summary
Peter loved playing chess with Sybill because she was one of the few, if not the only, who was a worthy opponent for him.
Sybill loved playing chess with Peter because it was the one match she couldn't predict the outcome of.
Sybill found it difficult to find a chess partner. People accused her of cheating. She could always see their next moves, but it wasn't something she could control. She couldn't turn it off. So she saw the entire course of the game before it even started.
It was different with Peter.
She predicted his next move, so she was able to thwart his plans. However, after each of her moves, Peter came up with a completely new strategy based on the current state of the board.
She was fascinated by him.
