Certainly uncertain

Summary:

Atlas had a guardian angel, a devil or something. Which tangled him into a mess of weird detectives, a man who believes he's a god and a pretty cute girl.

If only all of them were not crazy, maybe then, maybe then Atlas would have not tried to escape.

Work Text:

"I think...I have a guardian angel." Atlas muttered, tears falling down his cheeks as he sat on his knees. His knees touched the ground, it burned for the poor teenager who barely exercised.

"Or...a devil." He added, his gaze turning to the creature in the corner.

Ever since Atlas was a child, on a strange night he started to see a strange creature everywhere. It followed him yet never talked to him, its gaze on him for eternity. The creature was all bones, no flesh yet it wore extravagant clothing, a lovely bracelet on its bony wrist.

"Please...devil...you angel...talk to me, explain." Atlas asked the creature in the corner of the room. Atlas had observed in his life that whenever the creature ever wrote something in his notebook, something bad occurred.

He begged the creature, today was his entire family's funeral. He just came back from being questioned from the police at the sudden yet natural death of so many people from the same family.

"Why are you doing this to me?" Atlas asked, taking a step towards the creature. He reached his hand out to the creature, "Please."

He continued to reach.

Just a few steps.

Just a few inches.

Just a few centimetres.

Just an eternity away...

Atlas couldn't touch the creature, he phased right through it.

"I am a god of death." It responded, Atlas's eyes widened, not at the answer but rather at the fact that the creature responded to him.

"I am....Kyouhaku." He responded, Atlas tilted his head, that name... It's definitely not from the nation where Atlas resides. It sounded like...Japanese.

"Why are you after me?" Atlas asked, his eyes flickering with suspicion. "...." The god of death averted his gaze, "Tell me already.' Atlas barked.

"Because you are mine." The god of death bluntly responded, the human scrunched his nose as a way to show his disapproval. "You are mine." He repeated himself, in a more dominating way to show that he isn't joking.

"...? You killed my entire family, why?" Atlas said, "And why now? You have been there since my entire childhood." He reasoned, annoyed and extremely confused by the creature's behaviour.

"They...were useless, they served their purpose of raising you. It's not too long before you finish your high school and become a full adult." He responded, his eyes were emotionless and cold, without a hint of mercy.

"...Now what, then? What are you even doing?" Atlas asked, anger burning in his chest because the god of death killed his family only because he 'could'.

"I don't think you understand, Atlas. You don't understand what I am trying to say.' He said, pulling out a black book with the letters, 'Death note' on it.

He handed it to the young human, Atlas was reluctant and confused yet he read it anyway.

[Time skip]

It has been months since Kyouhaku started speaking, "No, we can't have you flying me over everywhere. We'll get caught by the satellites." Atlas explained with an annoyed expression, he was irritated by the clingy god of death as he waited at the airport, waiting to be able to enter the aeroplane.

Kyouhaku was suggesting flying Atlas over to Japan for some strange reason. He grumbled, crossing his arms and shook his head, "Urgh fine."

Atlas waited for the creature to quiet down as his mind drifted off, the sole reason he caught Kyouhaku was because in his childhood, he once found a note book, all black. The young five year old picked it up, and opened it up to read the words. He read the nonsense slowly, stringing up the words together to make sense but the words were too adult for the child, he threw it to the ground and left. Not noticing the god of death that was watching from the shadows, Kyouhaku got closer to the notebook and took it. The book now officially belonged to the young boy who seemed to be noticing something unnatural in his surroundings.

A grin plastered on his face as he watched the adorable kid leave, he followed him to his home and since then,  the book belonged to the boy yet the boy belonged to him. [IT'S NOT PEDO, ITS 100% PLATONIC, OKAY?]

"I still don't appreciate you killing my family." Atlas said out of nowhere, "And those friends of mine from childhood." He added.

Kyouhaku scowled, "They were assholes."

"You too." Atlas chuckled, whether the young man was naive or uncaring, the death of everyone didn't hurt as much. Perhaps because nobody believed, nobody believed him when he talked about the creature, labelled as a weirdo even by his own family. Other than that, they were solid people. Atlas shrugged, thinking to himself.

Suddenly a weird video showed up on the news. The television was planted in the wall, Atlas watched the video alongside Kyouhaku.

The entire screen was dark with the letter 'L' on it, it caught everyone's attention. The video continued. Then a reporter appeared, talking about a serial killer called, 'kira' and the murders of criminals all over the world.

The criminal kills without a trace, without being there in person, all of needs is to see a face and a person is after him, L.

Atlas turned his gaze towards Kyouhaku, indirectly asking if he's the one responsible, to which the god of death shook his head. "You fucked up, Kyouhaku." Atlas's eyes widened in realization, if people were smart enough to catch patterns then due to the stupidity of the god of death, Atlas had become involved in a crime.

"How..?" It pissed off the teenager, Atlas glared at the creature. He stood up, his eyes looking around the building to catch a camera. When he finds it, he turns so that his lips won't be seen by the camera.

"What the fuck do you mean, 'how'? You fucked this up for me, Kyouhaku." He wanted to scream, he was so damn pissed that he didn't explain anything to the idiot.

Due to the death of his entire family, all of them died because of heart attack and with Atlas being the sole survivor. People will now point fingers at him and the case of his family was big enough to be telecast.

Which means, L might have seen it if his eyes were skeptical enough.
