Work Text:
There he is. Sitting on a barstool, leaning over the island in the kitchen with papers and a computer laid out in front of him. His glasses rest upon his nose, framing his hazel, cat like eyes. His black hair is a mess as it always is. His tan hand holds his phone up to his ear. He is talking to someone.
He is not alone in the room. There is another. This one has slightly paler skin. His hair is white with black streaks. His eyes are amber and wide. Unlike the hazel eyed man, he is unoccupied. He is grinning mischievously.
The first man is unaware he has company. He believes he is alone. He believes the latter of the two is gone and won't be back for another day. But he is wrong.
The white haired male sneaks up on the other, hands ready to make a quick, unnoticed grab.
He is right behind him now. The other continues his call and then dismisses himself and hangs up. He sighs, mutters something about idiots, and starts clicking his computer.
The one behind him takes his chance. He wraps his arms around the other's waist and squeezes.
The other tenses and screams.
"MOTHER OF ALL HOLY FUCKING SHIT!"
He hears laughter. Laughter he recognizes. The arms leave his body. He turns and he sees the reason for his alarm laughing so hard he's barely standing even with the refrigerator's help. He crosses his arms.
After about 2 minutes, the laughter dies down.
"What the fuck, Bokuto? You scared the shit out of me. And what are you doing back so early you're not to be back till the 18th-" He looks at his phone. To his surprise it says March 18. He sets his phone down. "I guess it is the eighteenth. Nevermind. But that still doesn't excuse you for nearly giving me a heart attack."
'Bokuto' laughs again, however not as hard. He smiles sweetly and pulls the other man up from his seat and into his arms where he holds his hand in one of his own and holds his waist with his arm.
"I am on time. I was a little sad when you didn't show up at the airport to welcome me home, or when you didn't send a text to congratulate me on my win." Bokuto pouted a little but his partner just rolled his eyes, clearly too upset to show any sympathy. Bokuto was saddened a little, seeing how his partner wasn't giving any apology. On one hand, that was a good thing as he said it too often, but on the other hand, it made him feel as though he didn't care. "I'm sorry. I thought you'd find the scare enjoyable, but clearly not."
The tone in his voice snapped his partner out of his grudge and he sighed. He took his hand from the other's grip and held his partner's face as both his partner's hands rested on his hips.
"No, it's fine, Bo. I should be the one apologizing. I'm sorry I wasn't there to greet you and I'm sorry I didn't congratulate you on your win. Lastly, I'm sorry I got upset at you. You just scared me, that's all. I lost track for the dates and work kept me busy. I wanted to call you after we reviewed your game at work, but I couldn't remember the time for you, and I didn't want to wake you, so I never got around to it. I'm sorry."
Bokuto smiled at his reassuring words but frowned again when he saw his partner's tired expression and the spotlessness of the place.
"What's wrong?"
Bokuto moved hand to his partner's face and ruined his thumb just under the other's glasses.
"Tetsu, I was gone for about 2 weeks, how much did you sleep?"
Tetsu just smiled sheepishly. In all honesty, sleep didn't come easy to him and his mind was constantly telling him there was something to be done. Bokuto usually forced him to stay in bed, but without him there, there was nothing to stop him from staying up all night till sleep took over, making him sleep at his desk. His partner knew about his habits, so he didn't dare lie. Even though he was pretty good at lying, Bokuto was one the few people who picked up on his lies, so there was no point.
Bokuto pouted again, but this time, it was more of a grumpy pout than a sad pout. Tetsu found it adorable but he knew it was a sign that Bokuto was disappointed in him.
"I was gonna suggest we get some food but I think cuddles and kisses are in higher demand."
"No, we can get some food besides, I have to finish this project for work-" He motioned to his computer but it was shut in seconds and his phone was turned off. Any call that came in would not be received.
"Kuroo, you are going to get some actual sleep and spend time with me, your beloved lover. You can't stop it. I'll order pizza. And before you try, I'm paying. Now go wait on the couch while I change into sweatpants and if I see you on a computer when I get back, I'm only getting pizza with pineapple on it." And with that he leaves to their shared room and comes out a few minutes later wearing sweatpants and a hoodie.
To his delight, he entered the living room to find Kuroo huddled under a blanket, though clearly not liking the fact he wasn't being productive. Bokuto wasted no time getting on the couch, next to his lover, and under the blanket.
He wrapped his arms around Kuroo to ensure he couldn't go anywhere and pulled him close.
Bokuto didn't know why he was surprised to find Kuroo a slave to his habits, this wasn't the first time he'd come back to it. In fact, the first time that he did was when he first learned about it. They had been highschoolers preparing for college. At the time, they didn't even know they had a thing for each other.
They were spending the night at Bokuto's house when, through the night, he noticed that Kuroo seemed to go crazy at any physical mess he saw but thought he was just like Akaashi and didn't like messes. But, Bokuto had left him alone for a mere 30 minutes to run an errand, and returned to find him cleaning and organizing the public areas of the house. When he had tried to stop him, he found Kuroo got anxious and learned it had been drilled into him that one should always be doing something relatively productive and not doing that made him lose his mind. He found the only way to get him to settle down was to trap him with cuddles. They made it a habit for them to have a sleepover every week so Kuroo would get decent sleep at least one night a week.
Now, they lived together and could help each other. Bokuto helped Kuroo with his anxiety and workaholic nature, and Kuroo helped Bo through his mood swings and reminded him to take his ADHD medication.
Something, or someone, moved. Bokuto looked to see his lover shifted onto his lap and using his shoulder as a pillow. That was good: that meant he was accepting the fact that he was tired, and it made it easier to share the blanket. As much as he hated how the lack of sleep affected Kuroo, he loved how cute it was when he accepted the cuddles that were there to help him try and break his habits.
He loved his fluffy black hair. He loved how he would give him endless love and affection whenever he became insecure and couldn't leave the state. He loved his sassy nature with other people and the little hands on hip pose he was prone to do as his relaxed pose. He loved how he learned to stand up to his family over time and called them out for being the source of his mental issues. He loved the sweet and passionate kisses he gave. He loved how they were both strong enough to give the other a piggy back ride, even though Bokuto was heavier and stronger than Kuroo as he stayed in the business of actually playing volleyball while he would set up teams and manage them.
Sure, Kuroo was strong, but his work kept him busy sometimes, and he can only go to the gym two to three times a week causing him to be weaker than his boyfriend, and when they tried to carry each other Bokuto could carry Kuroo longer than the latter could carry him, but it was a lot if fun.
Another thing Bokuto loved about his partner, his food. Those things they say about the way to a man's heart is food is true. It was when Kuroo shared a snack he cooked himself that Bokuto had realized he liked Kuroo. He liked how he could cook (he could pretty well too, he just preferred Kuroo's cooking) and how he was perfectly fine sharing his food. He liked his bluntness, the moments he would nerd out about something scientific or star related, the times where he too would lose his train of thought mid sentence. He loved all of it.
He also loved his body. He loved the muscles his lover did have. He loved the feel of his rough, chapped lips. He loved his long tan legs. He loved making stupid jokes with him about how his own ass was bigger yet the biggest asshole between the two was Kuroo. He loved their little fun sessions at night, they didn't do it often, just occasionally. They both preferred cuddles over sex and they were totally fine with that.
Tonight was definitely a night for just cuddles and kisses. The perfect night.
"Tetsu," a hum in response. "Can I have a kiss?" There was another hummed response.
"No." Denial.
"Why?"
"You scared me. You don't deserve a kiss."
"Please?"
"No."
Another thing he loved but was a pain; Kuroo's ability to hold even the smallest of grudges.
"I'm sorry I scared you, please?"
"Nope." He popped his lips to make the 'p' sound.
Bokuto was saddened. Did Kuroo not love him anymore? Did he hate him? What was he going to do? He loved him so much. What would he do with that love?
Suddenly, he felt the sensation of lips upon his own, but they were gone as quickly as they had come. He looked at Kuroo to find he had moved again so he was on his lap and facing him. His glasses still rested on his nose, and he had his tongue stuck out. It was his way of saying 'emotional bitch'. He loved that look, it was adorable. Bokuto's mood swung back up and he *smiled mischievously.
Kuroo knew he had screwed up and Bokuto could tell when his eyes widened and tried to get away. He was too late, Bokuto attacked him with tickles hitting his sensitive spots first: feet, sides, and neck. The room was filled with that odd laugh Bokuto had come to adore. Some people found it annoying. He found it to be beautiful. Kuroo fell off Bokuto's lap, onto his back on the couch and Bokuto followed, continuing to tickle him. The black-haired man was crying, he was laughing so hard. There would be a cry for himbstop only to be interrupted by his laughter again.
After a minute of tickles and laughter, Bokuto laid on top of Kuroo, resting his chin on his chest.
"Can I have a real kiss now?"
"Yeah yeah."
He grinned and got his face closer to his partner's. He wasted no time closing the space between them. He loved this man and he would make sure he never forgot.
