Work Text:
When it's all over, I'll lie in the grass,
Drink sweet wine in summer in my lover's house.
I'll drive around town
With the windows rolled down
And smile as the sun hits the glass.
When it's all over, I'll clock out at 5.
We'll clean the kitchen and live a good life;
Great waves on the beach
And strawberries and cream
And deer-speckled mountains to climb.
I'll go into the forest, and I'll come home
I'll be safe and content and no longer alone.
The future is laughter
And paint on my clothes,
Coffee and kisses and sourdough loaves.
Now, it's not over, it might never be,
But for the time being, my love is with me
And there's space in soft evenings
And endless weekends
To patch over holes
To be with my friends
To get going early
Or just stay in bed
To clean away layers
Of crumbs, dirt, and grime
To burn down the candles
To finish the wine
To cry in the corner
To then wake up ok
Grateful and hopeful, in the home we've made.
