Mike pulled his lips away from Will's, smiling down at him. “That was amazing.”
Will smiled. “You always make me feel so good.”
Mike leaned down to kiss Will, again. “I wish we didn’t have to sneak around, though.”
Will sighed, sitting up. “It’s not safe for us. Not yet.”
The seats in the back of Mike’s car were all the way down. The two were laying on a bunch of pillows and blankets.
“It will be, one day,” Mike assured him, pulling Will back into his lap.
Will savored the taste of Mike’s lips. He loved his boyfriend. Kissing him was his favorite.
Just then, there was a tap on the window. They looked up to see Officer Callahan.
“Shit,” Will spat, getting off of Mike.
Mike retrieved a blanket to throw over their lower halves. Then, with a sigh, he opened the window.
“Good evening, officer,” he greeted.
“Byers, Wheeler,” he did not look pleased. “Why is your car parked in the trees?”
Mike groaned. “Please, don’t give us a ticket.”
“Fine,” he told them. “But, I’m following you back to your parents’ house. They can deal with you.”
Mike’s eyes widened. His dad didn’t even know he and Will were together. But, anything was better than Hopper finding out.
When they arrived at Mike’s, Officer Callahan followed them inside. Karen and Ted were sitting in the living room reading different sections of the newspaper.
“Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler,” he got their attention. “I wanted to let you know that I found these two parked off to the side of the road in a rather compromising position.”
Both of their hair still looked disheveled. It was pretty embarrassing.
Karen put down the newspaper and frowned. “Michael, why in the car?”
Ted shook his head, disapprovingly. “Thanks, Phil. I’ve got it from here.”
“Are you pressing charges?” Karen asked.
He shook his head. “This is the first time I’ve had to deal with them. I’ll let you handle it.”
Ted escorted him out, and turned to glare at his son. “You’re a dumbass. Both of you. He was really nice to let you off with a warning.”
“Ted,” Karen tried.
“What were you thinking?” Ted wanted to know. “Public indecency is easily six months in prison.”
“I’m sorry,” Mike apologized. “I just didn’t want you to know.”
“How long has this been going on?” Ted asked. “The dating thing. Not the sex thing. I really don’t want to know any more about that.”
“Since El and I broke up, Mike admitted.
“That was two years ago,” Ted realized. "You know all the cracks I made about you two... I knew you liked each other, but I didn't actually think you were dating."
They both nodded.
“Am I that awful of a father?” he asked. “Do you really feel like you can’t talk to me about something as important as this?”
Mike shrugged. “You’re not the easiest person to talk to. And, you hate gay people.”
Ted sighed. “Son, I’m not used to gay people. In case you didn’t realize, there aren’t many openly gay people around.”
“Please, don’t be mad,” Will spoke up.
“I’m not mad that you two had sex,” Ted clarified. “I’m mad that you had the audacity to do it in your car. And, I’m a little hurt you never told me about you guys.”
“Dad, I’m sorry,” Mike repeated. “I really thought you were going to hate me. Or hate Will.”
“I could never hate either of you,” Ted admitted. “But, I don’t love the idea of my 17 year old having sex. I don’t care who it’s with.”
“It’s not like I can get him pregnant,” Mike said. “Believe me, I’ve tried.”
Will slapped his arm. “Michael.”
“I’m not in trouble, am I?” Mike asked.
Ted shook his head. “No. But, you have to tell Hopper what happened. You don’t want him hearing it from Phil, first.”
“Dad, do you really want me to die?” Mike asked. “Hopper made me break up with El when he saw us making out. He’ll probably put me in a ditch and drive over it with his car if he knows I went anywhere near Will with my clothes off.”
Ted turned to his wife. “Karen, back me up.”
“Does Joyce know you’re dating?” she asked.
Will nodded. “Told her about a month ago.”
“Then, I’m sure she knows,” Karen said. “But, you should feel like you can talk to all of us about this. There’s nothing to be ashamed of. Your father and I used to do it all the time before we hated each other.”
Ted laughed. “Now, I jerk off to porn and your mom sleeps with that guy in her jazzercise class.”
“Ew,” Mike gagged. “I do not want to hear about you two.”
“It was quite a head rush the first time your dad kissed me laying down, but perpendicular to the headboard.”
“And, we’re leaving now,” Mike said, dragging Will out of the room.
“Hopper’s gonna find out,” Karen told them. “You don’t want him to accidentally walk in on you.”
“I hate it when you’re right,” Mike whined.

Later that evening, Hopper was in his recliner watching sports ball. Joyce was on the couch doing a crossword puzzle.
Will entered the living room, handing Hopper the beer he asked for. “Mom, Dad. I have something I need to tell you,” Will said.
That quickly got their attention. Joyce put her crossword down and Hopper muted the t.v.
“What’s up, kid?” Hop asked.
Will took a deep breath. “So, something happened. And, I need to tell you.”
Joyce smirked. She had a good idea of what he was going to say. She was very proud of her son for coming to them.
“It’s about me and Mike,” Will breathed.
Hopper’s face went sour. “You better not tell me what I think you’re going to tell me. Because, I was cool with this ‘you being gay’ thing. The only exception being you couldn’t date Mike.”
“Yeah, about that,” Will tried.
Hopper glared at him. So, Will lied. He lied terribly.
“We both signed up for pottery classes at the community center,” he pretended. “So, I was wondering if I could mow the lawn for some extra cash.”
Hopper looked very relieved. “Thank fuck. Yeah, sure. It needs to be mowed this week.”
Joyce rolled her eyes. It was hard to believe her husband bought that. His hatred for Mike was worse than she thought.
Hopper got out of his chair and reached into his wallet to give Will $10. “Here. Oh, and watch out. I think that Wheeler idiot has a crush on you.”
That was the last thing he said before heading into the kitchen.
“Will,” Joyce crossed her arms. “That wasn’t what you were going to say.”
He sighed, and took a seat next to his mother. “I don’t want Mike to die.”
Joyce laughed. “So, what happened? Why were you trying to tell him?”
“Officer Callahan caught Mike and I hooking up in the car, earlier,” Will admitted. “Ted said we had to tell you.”
Joyce looked flabbergasted. “Is that it?”
He nodded.
“What happened when you told Ted?” Joyce asked.
“He surprisingly took it very well,” he said.
“Oh, honey,” Joyce placed a hand on Will’s knee. “Why the car? You literally have a fort on our property.”
“Again, I didn’t want Mike to get murdered,” Will joked. “And, he didn’t want Ted finding out and sending him to a conversion therapist.”
“Hop’s gonna find out, sooner or later,” Joyce reminded him. “If you want him at your wedding, you’re gonna have to tell him who the other groom is.”
Will laughed. “You really think Mike and I will get married?”
Joyce wrapped an arm around her boy and held him close. “I think the second they legalize gay marriage, he’s gonna buy you a ring. That boy is obsessed with you. He has been since you were five.”
“I know,” Will smiled.
“I’m serious,” Joyce said. “When you were eight, he asked if he could marry you.”
Will chuckled. “He did not.”
“Did,” Joyce said. “He said that he was never going to love anyone like he loves you. And, for whatever reason, I believed it. He’s always been so good with you. I knew you two would eventually end up together.”
“And you let him date my sister for two years?” Will pulled away to ask.
“Honey, he had to make his own mistakes,” she said. “He finally came to his senses, though.”
Then, El walked in. “Ain’t that the truth. He took one look at my boobs and vomited.”
That was all she said before walking out the front door.
“He had a very different reaction to seeing me with my shirt off,” Will joked.
“I’ll have your back when you tell Hop,” she kissed his head. “I’ll always have your back. But, you better tell your dad fast or he’ll start picking out prospects for you.”
-
Mike was laying on Will’s bed the next day, with his head in his boyfriend’s lap. Will was playing with his hair and ranting about Hopper.
“I just couldn’t do it,” he admitted. “He’s just so crazy. I had no idea what he would’ve done. And, your face is too pretty to be bashed in.”
Mike sat up and pecked Will’s lips. “It’s okay. I know he’s a piece of work. But, he loves you. No matter how twisted he expresses it.”
“Do you think you could tell him?” Will asked. “I mean, it was your idea to fuck in the car.”
“Do you want me to die?” Mike asked, half serious.
“I thought you were supposed to be confident,” Will teased.
“Hey,” Mike fought. “It’s not my fault I have the most aggressive power bottom in Hawkins, and I’m just a shit service top.”
Will laughed and kissed his cheek. “You’re not a shit service top. You always make me feel amazing.”
“Promise?” Mike pouted.
“Yes, dork,” Will batted his head away, lovingly. “I literally can’t get enough of you.”
Just then, there was a knock on Will’s door. “Will, can you help me move the couch? I dropped my pager behind it, and your sister’s not here.”
They panicked. It was now or never.
“I’ll be out in a minute,” Will called through the door.
“I love you,” Mike squeezed his hand.
“I love you, too,” Will smiled.
They entered the living room, slowly. They decided not to hold hands. They didn’t want an instant screaming match.
“Wheeler, I didn’t know you were here,” Hopper looked at him.
Will didn’t acknowledge the comment. He used his mind to lift the couch, so Hopper could retrieve his pager.
“Thanks, kid,” Hopper smiled.
“We need to talk to you,” Will told him.
Joyce must have heard, because she came in from the kitchen.
Hopper seemed to have an idea, but he wanted to hear it outright.
“What is it, sweetie?” Joyce asked, playing along.
Hop was glaring at Mike. “Tread lightly.”
“So, how would you feel,” Will began. “Hypothetically, if Mike and I were dating?”
“WHEELER!” Hopper shouted.
Mike shrunk down to a squatting position on the floor. He put his hands in front of his face and begged, “Please, don’t hurt me!”
“Hop, don’t,” Joyce warned.
Hopper backed away, allowing Mike to stand back up.
“Sir, I love him,” Mike assured him. “I love him so much. I’m going to spend the rest of my life making sure he only feels loved.”
“Please, don’t be mad,” Will said. “I know you wanted it to be anyone but him. But, he’s it for me.”
“Why are you telling me?” Hopper wanted to know. “There has to be some reason that I’m not finding out by walking in on you idiots with Skeleton’s dick pounding your insides.”
Will and Joyce gagged at that awful picture.
“Well, about that,” Mike began.
Hopper looked ready to swing. He knew now that he was never getting rid of Mike. His dreams had been shattered.
“So, something happened,” Will breathed. “And, we thought you should know.”
“Well, Ted’s making us tell you,” Mike added. “Otherwise you would have had that creepy intrusive thought come to life.”
Will looked way too nervous. Hopper was not happy. It was obvious. He was scared of what his stepdad was going to do.
“Officer Callahan caught Will and I having sex in the car, last night,” Mike admitted.
Hopper only saw red. “WHEELER! WHY ARE YOU SO FUCKING STUPID?”
“Hop,” Joyce stepped between them.
“Wheeler knows exactly how I feel about him,” Hopper never took his eyes off of Mike. “He has the audacity to make out with my daughter and then treat her like garbage. Then, he hurts my son. You have a shit track record, kid. I don’t want you two together.”
“Dad,” Will grabbed Mike’s hand. “This is the way it is. I don’t want to be with anyone else. I know it’s not what you wanted. And, I’m sorry to disappoint you. But, I’m not sorry for how I feel about Mike.”
“And, I’m not sorry for how I feel about him,” Mike said. “I know, I hurt them both. And if I could take back those years and do it differently, I would. But, I love Will. I would never intentionally hurt him. Besides, he has me now. I’m not going anywhere.”
“Aren’t you the least bit proud that Mike is telling you, himself?” Joyce asked her husband. “He’s giving you a warning so you don’t see something you don’t want to see.”
“I’m not breaking up with him,” Will stood his ground. “If you don’t like it, I’m sorry. But, it’s not my problem and it certainly isn't Mike's. So, please leave him alone about it.”
Hopper looked at both of them. “You plan to marry him?”
Mike nodded. “I’ve always planned to.”
“Do you plan to respect him?” Hopper continued.
“I respect him so much,” Mike said. “He’s my best friend. Nobody in the world means more to me,” he kissed Will’s cheek.
Hopper growled. “You better keep him happy. If I find out you aren't’-,”
“You’re gonna kick my ass, put your foot in my ass, make my ass a hat,” Mike said, as a matter of fact.
“He’s learning,” Hopper smiled.
Joyce and Will shook their heads in annoyance.
“So, why the car?” Hopper asked. “Did you really think that was a smart idea?”
Mike shrugged. “Will’s pretty loud.”
Will’s eyes widened.
Hopper didn’t like that answer. “Run,” he warned Mike.
Mike nodded and ran out the door.
Will’s face was red. Joyce just laughed.
“He's such a pussy,” Hopper concluded. “Will, great news. You aren’t gay!”
Joyce gave her son a hug and chuckled. “Trust me, we all know he’s the loud one.”
The three of them nodded. It was no secret that Mike was obsessed with his boyfriend.
“Shit,” Will muttered. “He really is a simp.”
