Title: Abduction and Secrets
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Something bad happens when secrets are revealed.
Kim Cook had been with the FBI for four years now, three of which she had been secretary for Assistant Director Walter Skinner. She liked her job and the money was great for raising her ten year old daughter, Jordan, who she'd do anything for.
Kim arrived to work Friday morning early to get a head start on the mountain of paper work she still had on her desk. When she exited the elevator she saw a figure stand up and hurry down the hallway. Thinking that was strange, she pulled out her key and unlocked the door, stepping in she kicked something. Looking down she saw an envelope on the floor. She bent down and picked it up. Putting the door stopper down, she went to her desk.
As she sat down and turned her computer on, she noticed there wasn't any writing on the envelope. She shrugged her shoulders and set it on the desk. She went to start the coffee so it would be ready for when AD Skinner arrived.
Walking out of her office she almost ran right into him. "I am so sorry sir."
"It's ok Ms. Cook." He smiled down at her. He had never really noticed how much taller he was than her. "Going for coffee already?"
"Yes sir. Do you want yours now?" She asked as she took a step back and looked up at him.
"Yes, please," he smiled. "Thanks," he said and glanced around the hallway. Not seeing anyone, he leaned down and kissed her.
Kim returned the kiss and blushed. "Walter, not at work," she whispered.
"Sorry dear," he smiled. "Oh, an Agent Reyes will be returning my call to help out with another case."
Kim nodded. "Is that the one that helped Mulder and Scully with a case down south?" she asked.
"Yes," he replied and headed into his office for an early morning meeting.
The day had gone by so fast since it was a crazy week, lots of paper work and sitting in on meetings. Her mother, Shelly, watched her daughter after school and she was thankful for that.
Finishing up the paperwork and hitting the submit button, she stretched her back and glanced at the time. Seeing it was 6:36 pm, she looked over at her boss’s door. She sighed and pushed her chair back then walked over and knocked.
"Come in," came the voice from inside the office.
She turned the knob and walked in. "Sorry for interrupting you, sir," she stated.
"No worries, I needed a break." He put his pen down and looked at her.
"It's past 6:30. If you don't need anything else I'm going to head home," she said.
"It's already 6:30?" He looked at his clock. "No, go ahead and head home to your daughter. I'm sorry for keeping you so late this week. I will make it up to you both," he said smiling.
"Thanks, Sir," she sighed. "I wish you would rethink joining Jordan and I this weekend."
"You ladies need a girls’ weekend. As much as I'd love spending more time with you, I will spoil you both next week." He stood up and walked over to her and reached up and touched her cheek. "I love you Kim," he said and kissed her.
Kim smiled and returned the kiss. "I love you too." She hugged him. "Have a good weekend," she said and smiled.
"You..." he started, but the ringing of the phone stopped him. He walked over and answered it. "Skinner,” he said and waved to her.
Kim nodded and left the office. She gathered her things and clocked out.
Walter sat back down, watching as Kim left his office. "Hello?" he said and no one answered. He hung up the phone. As much as he would love to spend the weekend with Kim and Jordan, he had some thinking and planning to do. He pulled his middle drawer out and looked at the two small boxes he had there and smiled.
********************
Kim headed home after picking up dinner and dessert, not wanting to have to cook after today, only wanting to rest.
When she arrived, Jordan was thrilled her mom was home. She loved her grandma but she missed her mom when she was at work. She hugged her and then took two of the small bags and helped her.
"I missed you too, Jordan." Kim smiled and hugged her daughter back. "Thank you," she said and went into the kitchen. "Hi mom, I brought dinner,” she informed her.
"That's sweet Kim, but I'm meeting up with a few friends at 7:30."
"Oh, I'm sorry to keep you waiting then. You could have called and let me know. I would have left work sooner."
"Kim, don't worry. Honestly, it's fine. I know you work. And besides, I love spending time with my granddaughter." She rubbed Jordan's head and smiled.
They talked for a minute and Shelly left to meet friends. Kim and Jordan had dinner and talked about the day.
Kim spent the weekend with Jordan, going to the park and playing soccer. Jordan loved soccer. Anything that made her daughter happy she made sure to do often.
The weekend came and went, just like the week days. She dreaded Monday mornings. She pulled herself out of bed at 5 am to get ready for work. When she was done, she then woke Jordan up and then got breakfast started.
Jordan walked out. "Mom, can you talk to my teacher?"
Kim looked over at her. "Why?"
"Tell her it's too early for school. I need more sleep." Joran said.
Kim smiled. "It's not just you getting up early, my dear. Every kid gets up that early. We can change your bedtime 8:30 instead if 9:30 if you would like."
"NO!" Jordan said loudly. "I'm up..I'm up." She ran off and got dressed.
Kim laughed. The rest of the morning went smoothly. She got Jordan to school and arrived to work about ten minutes early.
Walking into her office, she noticed her boss’ door was still closed. She turned her computer on and then went to get some coffee. Pouring two cups, she took them back to her office, knowing AD Skinner would like a cup when he walked in.
She dove into her paperwork and the case reports that were on her desk. Time flew by and she saw it was 9:30 am. She looked over at the door that connected to Walter’s office. She walked over and knocked on the door. She listened and didn't hear anything. Trying the door, she found it was locked, he never locked that door.
Grabbing the key from her desk, she unlocked and door and opened it. Looking in she was shocked. The room was a mess. Papers and books were all over the floor, a chair was knocked over and the coffee table was broken. She didn't enter but grabbed the phone and called AD Kersh.
Within minutes Kersh had a team of people combing Skinner’s office and going through everything, taking pictures and looking for any kind of evidence.
Kim sat in her chair and watched. She was worried about her Walter and she gasped for air when she saw they found blood. She wasn't sure how much there was, but they took a sample, she assumed to find out if it was Assistant Director Skinner's or another person’s.
She couldn't believe this was happening. When she left Friday he was fine and happy.
The team of FBI agents investigating the disappearance of Skinner taped off the room so no one could enter yet.
Mulder and Scully heard what happened and made their way up to see if they could do anything.
Mulder walked over to Kim. "Hey, how's it going?"
Kim looked up, still in shock. "AD Skinner is missing. I’m not sure when it happened."
"What do you remember?" Mulder asked.
"It was a long and busy week. Friday I worked late and at 6:30pm I asked if he needed anything else before I left. He said no, for me to go home to my daughter."
Mulder raised an eyebrow. He didn't know she had a kid. "Then what?"
"I told him to have a good night. He went to tell me the same thing but a phone call came in and he waved at me as he answered the phone," she finished telling him. It was the first time that morning that someone asked her what she remembered from the last time she saw him.
"A phone call? Do you know who it was?" he pushed.
She shook her head. "No I don't. When he said go home to my daughter and then waved. I wasn't looking back." She frowned, thinking this was all her fault somehow.
"I will look into the phone call," Mulder said.
Scully was looking into the office for any clues. She walked out into the hallway and to the other door. Looking over the door frame and floor. Not seeing any signs of forced entry, she sighed and walked over to Mulder saying, "I will go check the security cameras."
"Sounds good. Kim, we will let you know if we find something," Mulder added.
Another agent was watching them from the side as Mulder and Scully were talking to Kim, realizing that she was the lady that placed the call for help. As Mulder and Scully left the office to look into the phone call and the security cameras, Agent Brengman walked over and asked, "Ms. Cook, you were the one that reported the incident? Were you also the last one to see him?"
Kim looked up at her. "To my knowledge I was, I mean if you want to get technical than the person that took him was the last to see him."
Agent Brengman nodded as she took notes. "Was there anything off during the work day on Friday?"
"No. Just work being very busy." She added.
Agent Brengman walked over to the other Agents and talked to them, pointed towards Kim and read over her notes. She then returned a few minutes later. "Ms. Cook, I'm sorry but you're going to be suspended from your duties here without pay and I recommend that you don't leave town."
Kim was starting to panic. "You don't seriously think that a five foot four, one hundred and twenty pound woman like me kidnapped my boss, who is six foot two and a two hundred and twenty pounds?" She looked at them in shock. "Seriously!"
"I'm sorry ma'am. We are just doing our jobs," Brengman informed her.
Kim was beyond upset. "Fine. I will gather my things and leave." She grabbed her purse, the mail. She also grabbed two flash drives from the drawer that looked like credit cards so no one recognized what they were.
Agent Brengman walked her down the hall and out of the building.
***********
Kim exited the building and turned and looked at the agent as she walked back through the doors. She couldn't believe this was happening. She pulled out her phone and called Mulder since she had his and Scully’s numbers programmed into her phone because they were A.D Skinners Agents.
"Mulder," he said, answering his phone.
"Mulder, it's me, Kim. Thought I would let you know. I have been suspended and was just escorted out of the building,” she informed him.
"You've got to be kidding me!" Was his shocked reply.
"Yeah, I'm not allowed to leave town either."
"Who decided that?" he asked.
"I didn’t catch her name. She was the short one with big boobs. You can't miss her!" she said as she walked to her car.
"We will head back and find out why they decided that. We will be in contact," Mulder said and then hung up and called Scully.
"Scully," she said answering her phone.
"Scully, Kim has been suspended. She said the Agent was short and umm…well endowed, but didn't catch her name. I’m going to head up and find out why this decision was made," he told her.
"I will meet you there,” she replied, then asked the security person to contact her when and if they found anything.
********
Arriving back at Skinners office, Mulder was looking for the busty Agent, when all of a sudden one person turned around and Mulders eyes went wide and he thought to himself, 'Yup, big boobs.'
Scully arrived and saw Mulder observing the agent. She wanted to slap that smirk off Mulders face. She rolled her eyes and thought to herself, what does she have that I don’t…besides the big boobs of course.
"May I speak to whoever is in charge?” Mulder asked the agent.
"That would be me, Agent Brengman. What can I do for you?" she asked.
"Why was Ms. Cook suspended?" Mulder asked.
"She was interfering with the case. And from questioning her, she was the last one that saw AD Skinner. She's a suspect so we can't have her here. I was trying to be nice and at least send her home for now. I heard she has a daughter so I didn't want to send her to the police station."
"She didn't do it," Mulder said and left the office. He was outraged over how they were treating Kim.
Scully looked Agent Brengman up and down before following Mulder down the hall.
"That was so uncalled for!" Mulder said as he was walking down the hallway. "I'm waiting for a phone call about calls to Skinner’s office."
"I'm also waiting for something from security," Scully added as the two agents headed toward their office to try and come up with something to help Kim and Skinner.
*******
Kim made it home and told her mom what was going on. If things change she might need her mom to watch Jordan, but for now she was going to treat this like a vacation. She didn't want Jordan worrying about her job.
Hours passed and Jordan got home from school, happy her mom was already home. They made dinner together and spent the evening playing games and watching movies.
The next day, Kim took Jordan to school and then came home and got some cleaning done. She was trying not to stress over Skinner being missing. She hoped he was okay.
She was towards the front of her house when she heard glass breaking, wood splitting and a crashing sound coming from the back of her house. She ran up the stairs to hide, missing a step and falling forward, hurting her left leg and knee. She bit her lip and got up, going up as quickly as she could the rest of the way.
Entering the first door on the left, Jordan's room, she crawled under her bed, seeking shelter.
A man was making noise downstairs, then he began to make his way up the stairs, searching each room.
Kim stayed quite and watched the best she could. She recognized the man but couldn't name him.
The man looked around her daughter’s computer in search of something. He knew she had to have the evidence he was looking for. When he didn’t find anything, he went back down stairs, throwing things around in his search.
A car pulled into the driveway and two people got out and walked up to the front door and rang the doorbell.
The man stopped his search and headed out the back area where he had broken in.
Kim heard the door bell and pulled out her cell phone from her back pocket and called Mulder.
"Mulder," he said answering his phone.
"I need help!" Kim said.
"We are at your front door."
"Thank God. Someone just broke into my house!"
"What?" Mulder said in shock. "I'm going around back, Kim said someone just broke in,” he told Scully. He pulled his gun and ran around to the back. Rounding the corner he saw the broken door. He looked out towards the backyard, knowing whoever it was probably took off when they rang the doorbell. "Kim, I don't see anyone. Where are you?"
"I'm upstairs under Jordan's bed," she replied.
Mulder made his way into Kim's house, watching where he stepped. He walked to the front door and opened it for Scully. "I don't see anyone here. Kim said she's under Jordan's bed upstairs, why don’t you check on her. I'm going to go have a look around. I will be back," he said and started searching the house before going back outside.
Scully went up looking for Kim. The first door had toys in the room. "Kim?" she called out.
"Dana?" Kim replied and moved to get out front under the bed. "Ouch!" she cried, almost screaming in pain.
"What's wrong?" Scully asked.
"I fell when I ran up the stairs,” she said as she finally got out from under the bed. She stood up and looked at her knee. It was scraped and starting to swell.
Scully sighed. "Mulder went to check around the house. Do you have any idea what they were after?" she asked as she looked at the destruction of Jordan’s room.
"No clue. They didn't say anything, he just kept searching and throwing things around," Kim added. "He did look familiar. I’ve seen him somewhere."
Mulder walked into the room at that moment. "What did he look like?"
Kim thought a moment. "I would describe him as tall with a defined jawline.”
“I wonder if who ever broke in, also kidnapped Skinner." Mulder said.
Scully looked at them. "I'm going to go and take some pictures of the mess and try and figure out what he was after. Kim, did you take anything from work when they suspended you?"
Kim looked at her, not saying anything.
"What is it?" Mulder asked.
"I took the mail from last week and my back up flash drives,” she finally said.
"What's in the mail?" Scully asked.
Kim walked past them, her knee hurting and feeling as if it was bleeding and her pant leg was sticking to it. She reached down to pull her jeans away from her leg and to see if she was bleeding. She pulled up her pant leg and her knee had swelled up to the size of a softball. The pain was starting to kick in.
Scully walked up to her. "Are you ok?"
"I don't think so." She glanced up to Scully.
"My God, is that from the fall?" she asked. "We need to get ice on that and get it elevated."
Mulder was listening and walked over and picked her up. "Couch?" he asked, looking at Scully.
Scully nodded and walked ahead of them and into the kitchen for some ice.
Mulder carried Kim over and laid her on the couch. He propped her leg up with a pillow under it. "Scully is getting ice. Where's the mail?" he asked.
She pointed to a door. "It's in my purse hanging in the closet."
He nodded and walked over and opening the door he looked in and saw it on the hook. He reached in and removed it and started heading back out meeting Scully at the doorway of the living room.
Scully smiled and looked at him, seeing he was holding a light pink purse. "That's a nice color on you, Mulder," she said and laughed.
"Oh, you're so funny." He teased and walked over to Kim, giving her the purse.
"Thanks,” she said, taking the purse and pulling out the mail she had. She handed it over to him.
Scully sat on the coffee table, wrapped the ice up and put it on Kim's knee. She was shocked at how quickly it had swelled.
Mulder sifted through the mail, not seeing anything noticeable or that stuck out right off. In one of them, he could tell there was something hard in it. He put the rest down as he opened it up. Seeing it was all coded he was at a loss. "I’m not sure what it means. There is a disc though." He held it up.
"Maybe that's what he was looking for. I mean he was around all the computers looking." Kim added.
"Scully, I'm going to take this to the gunmen and see if they can figure it out." He stood up, keeping a hold on the piece of mail.
"I'm going to stay with her, see if the swelling goes down. If not, I will take her for x-rays. But we should take the two of them someplace else for a while."
After what seemed like forever, Kim talked her mom into picking up Jordan and letting her stay with her for the night. Scully decided to take her to the hospital since the swelling in her knee wouldn't go down.
After a few hours at the hospital, Kim's knee was wrapped and she was ready to go. Nothing was broken, but she had to stay off of it for a while and keep it elevated. It hurt to bend it or put a lot of weight on it.
Kim stayed with Scully that night since she didn't feel safe staying at her place.
Once they were settled, Kim's phone rang. She reached over and answered it. "Hello?" Kim put the phone on speaker since she was lying down.
"Hi mommy," Jordan said. She liked hearing her mom's voice before she went to bed at night.
"Hey sweetie. Are you having fun with grandma?" she asked. All the while she kept thinking about everything that had happened.
"Yes, but can I come back home tomorrow?" Jordan asked.
Kim's heart broke. "No, but it's not because I don't want you here sweetie."
"Can you tell Walter goodnight for me then?" Jordan asked. She really liked Walter.
Kim refused to look over at Scully. "Walter's not here sweetie. But I will let him know when I talk to him."
"Okay mommy. I love you, good night," Jordan told her mom.
"I love you too Jordan, sweet dreams," Kim said and hung up the phone. She knew Scully was going to question her.
Scully was shocked about what she had heard. She knew it wasn't her business, but given the circumstances she had to ask. "Kim, I need to ask you a question?"
"I knew it was coming. Yeah, go ahead." She glanced over at her finally.
"Are you and Skinner dating?" Scully asked, watching her.
"Yes." Was all Kim said.
"Why didn't you tell someone when this happened? And why didn't you report it sooner?" Scully pushed for answers.
"Oh, I'm pretty sure the same reason you don't tell anyone about you and Mulder,” she smirked, being a wise guy. "And just because we are dating doesn't mean he's over here all the time. Weekends are mostly mother/daughter time. Yes, he joins us sometimes but not always."
"We are partners Kim." Scully nodded her head in agreement. Scully liked Mulder but wasn’t sure of his feelings for her.
"Anything else?" She looked over at Scully.
"Nope. Not right now." Scully yawned.
Kim nodded. "Um, I do have something to add." she said, biting her lip.
Scully looked over at her. She could tell Kim was nervous about something. "What's that?"
Kim took a deep breath. "While I was at the hospital getting my knee looked at. They um, ran a pregnancy test before I got the x-ray," she paused, "I'm pregnant." She had tears in her eyes. She wished Walter could have been the first person she told.
Scully’s eyes went wide at this information. She knew now more than anything they had to find Skinner. "Congratulations, Kim." she finally said.
Kim smiled some. "Thanks,” she said as she wiped her eyes. "Please promise me you will find him."
"We are doing our best," Scully said settling in to watch some TV. Scully hadn't heard from Mulder yet about the disc, which was surprising. She slept on the small couch and she let Kim sleep in her bed.
********
Mulder was waiting for the Lone Gunmen to help him with the disc. It was taken longer than normal for them to get into the disc and crack it to read it.
Frohike looked over to Mulder. "This is going to take a while. Why don't you head home and get some sleep. We will call as soon as we decode this."
"First thing! Skinner’s life depends on it," Mulder added as he thanked them and left.
Mulder headed over to Scully's. Unlocking the door, he walked in slowly.
Scully heard the door and sat up to see him walking in. "Kim's in my room sleeping,” she said as Mulder sat next to her.
"How's she doing?" Mulder asked.
"She is tired and stressed. Her knee is not as swollen but it's wrapped and she's on crutches," Scully informed him. "Oh, and Kim and Skinner are dating and..." Scully paused, "Kim is pregnant."
Mulder looked at her in shock and sat down heavily on the couch. That was the last thing he would have imagined hearing.
They talked for a while before they both drifted off to sleep.
The next morning, Kim got up and grabbed her crutches and went into the bathroom. She looked into the living room and saw Scully was lying practically on top of Mulder on the couch. She smiled and moved on.
Kim's phone rang and Jordan wanted to come be with her. Kim told her mom where she was and to bring Jordan there.
Twenty minutes passed and there was a knock on the front door. Kim walked to the door and looked out the peephole. Seeing her mom, she opened the door.
"Mommy!" Jordan screamed and ran to her, stopping short as she noticed the crutches. "What happened, Mommy?" she asked.
Shelly was looking at her with questions too.
Mulder and Scully both woke to a little girl screaming. Scully was surprised when she woke on top of Mulder. She looked at him as she sat up and saw everyone standing there.
Kim's mom became concerned. "Is everything ok?"
Mulder walked over to the ladies at the door and heard the question. "You must be Jordan,” he said to her. "Do you want to help me with breakfast?"
"Yes!" she said as she followed him to the kitchen, giving Kim some time to tell her mom what had happened.
After telling her mother everything that was going on she said, "They are helping me mom."
The girls stayed at Scully's to wait for news, while Mulder left to head to the office and the minutes turned to hours.
*******
Langly, was the brains of the operation, even though Frohike’s kung fu was the best. After hours of trying he was able to figure out part of the encryption. He tried calling Mulder but it went straight to voice mail, so he decided to call Scully.
"Scully,” she said, answering her phone.
"Scully, it's Langly. We finally got somewhere with this. Not all of it, but layer by layer it's starting to…"
"Out with it Langly!" Scully said stopping his rambling.
"Okay. It has something to do with Mulder's sister, he said.
"What about her?" she asked, glad he called her and not Mulder.
"That's just it. We don't know yet. I've never run into something this complex. It gave two years, but nothing else."
"What years?"
"1965 and 1990." Langly replied.
Scully thought about what would be so special about those dates. "1965 was the year Samantha was born. 1990? She was taken before that. If you find anything else out. Call me." She hung up.
Meanwhile, Mulder was in his office on his computer. There had been no new evidence whatsoever on what happened to Skinner.
Just then there was a knock at the door. "Come in," Mulder said, as he threw the last pencil to the ceiling.
The door opened and a women walked in. "Agent Mulder?" She asked. She appeared somewhat nervous about talking to him.
He looked at her. "Yes. And you are?" he asked.
"Oh good, I found you. I got lost for a moment," she said as she smiled. "I'm Agent Monica Reyes from the New Orleans office. I was supposed to have a meeting with AD Skinner on Monday and I haven't heard from him, so I thought I'd pay a visit. I saw his office is taped off and Agent Brengman said I could come talk to you." She walked over and sat down in the chair.
"Please, have a seat,” he smirked. "I'm sorry, AD Skinner was abducted last Friday evening. It's been a mess since then."
Agent Reyes looked at him in shock, finding it all strange.
"I'm sorry, is there something I can help you with?" Mulder asked.
"Well, I had given him information. A few months ago I worked on a case where little girls were being taken. Come to find out, the guy was keeping cloth hearts from their clothes as trophys. Anyhow, we had found a body down south and contacted the Assistant Director after we saw there was an open case on it. We've stayed in touch, had coffee and talked about things on occasion. In fact, he interviewed me for a job here ."
Mulder leaned back in his chair. He hated the Roche case. He ran that case and it still weighed on him to not know more about his sister or the other victims.
Turning his attention back to Agent Reyes, Mulder asked, "What kind of things did you discuss?"
"How I got into the FBI. Where I'm from. What kind of cases I work," she told him as she glanced around his office. It was interesting.
"And those would be?" he pushed, wanting answers.
"I was adopted and raised in Mexico. I've worked kidnappings, and violent crimes and the cases related to the occult."
"And you said AD Skinner was going to hire you?"
She nodded. "I'm sure of it."
He typed her name in on his computer and checked it out. Seeing Agent Reyes's information on the FBI website and that she was who she said she was he said, "Well, maybe you can help us find AD Skinner then,” he said. "Here's what we know so far."
He handed her the file on Skinner.
Monica gladly took the file and started reading over it.
"You said you had coffee with AD Skinner?" Mulder asked.
"I did. About a month ago," Reyes replied.
Mulder nodded. He really wasn't sure of much right now.
"I received an envelope in the mail two weeks ago. It had a disc and a letter in it," she said as she reached into her purse and pulled it out to show him. She'd read over the letter multiple times, trying to wrap her mind around it still, but she was pushing Agent Mulder to see if he knew what Skinner knew.
"Any idea what's in it?" he asked, biting his lip.
"He said it was life altering and very important,” she added.
"I think now is a good time to find out,." Mulder said watching her.
Agent Reyes nodded and opened the envelope. The disc fell onto her lap. She picked it up and looked at it. Knowing this held everything.
Mulder saw this and leaned over looking at the disc in her hands, noticing it looked very much like the one the Gunmen were looking into.
She sat it on the desk and pulled out a piece of paper. It was addressed to her. She read it again before handing it to him.
Monica,
I am sending you this information as it is important to you. After some digging, searching and running some tests, it is very clear to me the news I'm about to share with you may put your life in danger. There are people who may stop at nothing to keep this information from getting out. Use precautions with this until I know it's safe. You will also need to talk to an Agent Fox Mulder that works here in DC with me. He may know more of what to do. Please feel free to double check all the information on the disc. Anyways, the results indicate that you are Agent Mulder’s sister, Samantha, who was taken from their home in 1973. I'm sorry this comes as a shock to you. All results are on the disc. We will talk about it more when we meet. Any questions can be asked at that time.
Sincerely,
W.S.S
Agent Reyes watched Mulder closely as he read and re-read the letter.
He couldn't focus clearly after the second time reading. He sat the letter on his desk and glanced up at her. His sister? Could it really be? And doing almost the same thing he's doing?
Trying to get his thoughts in order Mulder said, "Well, um, we will have everything tested again. Like he said to do in the letter. We can start there." He didn't want to not believe, but he wanted proof. "Let me call my partner, he grabbing the phone to call Scully.
*********
Scully had taken Kim and Jordan back to their place and was playing with Jordan when the phone rang. She answered her phone. "Hello."
"Scully, it's me. I need you to come to the office. I need you to do something,” he said.
"You ok Mulder?" She asked getting worried.
"I'm fine. Just please hurry." He didn't want to discuss this over the phone.
"I'm on my way." She hung up. "I'm sorry Jordan, can we finish the game later?"
"Sure,” Jordan said, smiling.
"OK. I'm going to make sure everything is locked up. Help your mom if needed.” Scully told the girl.
Scully walked to the other room where Kim was resting. "Kim, Mulder needs help with something so I need to go to the office. I'm going to lock up and Jordan will help if you need something.”
Kim nodded. "Thanks Dana."
Scully nodded and walked around, checking everything before grabbing her keys and purse and heading into work.
**********
Scully arrived at work and headed down to the office. As she walked in she started talking. "What's going on Mu..." She stopped as she saw a women sitting in the chair in front of the desk. "Sorry,” she said as she made her way over to them.
"Scully, this is Agent Reyes, she's from the New Orleans field office. She had spoken to Skinner a few months ago and was supposed to have a meeting with him today, and here, just read this." He handed Scully the letter and watched her as she read it.
Agent Reyes also watched her read it.
Scully couldn't believe what she was reading. How could Skinner come up with this if had been searching his whole life? But then again, they had people interfering with every lead they got. This could explain Skinner’s abduction. She licked her lips as she finished. She shot Mulder a questioning look before looking over at Agent Reyes. "Well, the letterhead is from Skinners legal notepad, that's clear." She noticed the FBI on the top and his name on the bottom. "If this is true, it would make sense what happened to Skinner. I'd say we need to run some tests of our own to check those results."
"Can you do it Scully? I only trust you." He didn't want someone else finding out what they were up to.
"Yeah, follow me to the lab…both of you,” she said, taking the letter and the disc from Mulder’s hands. She led them both down to the lab area.
Agent Pendrell was there and she knew she could trust him. She'd probably need some help anyways. "Pendrell, do you mind helping me with some tests I need done off the record and no one can know?" She didn't want him in trouble.
Pendrell smiled. "Sounds like my kind of challenge."
"Good. I need Mitochondrial DNA testing on them both," Scully said and swabbed the inside of both their mouths and took blood work just in case. "It will take a few hours. Let us do our magic and I will call you,” she said to Mulder.
"Leave your number so I can also reach you, Agent Reyes." Scully said.
Pendrell got to work on the tests Scully needed while Reyes wrote her number down on a piece of paper and gave it to her.
"Thanks." She put it in her pocket. She looked at Mulder and nodded to the side, away from both Pendrell and Reyes. "Kim and Jordan are back at their house.”
Mulder nodded. "Thanks Scully.”
Scully looked at him. "I'm going to print the results out from the disc and then take it over to the guys and see if anything matches the other disc. Langly did call and said what is on it has to do with your sister. They are still working on more information with it. But Mulder.."
"I know Scully, don't get my hopes up,” he replied.
Scully smiled and squeezed his hand. She put the disc in and opening the few files, printed out the results. She did see one that was locked.
She handed the disc to Mulder. "All set." She took a deep breath. "If it's true, I wouldn't let her leave your sight. Not yet, knowing what has happened in the past.”
"I didn't plan on it," he smiled and took the disc.

Mulder and Reyes left the lab. "I'd like to get this disc looked at. Care to join me?" he asked as he headed to the parking ramp to his car.
"Sure." She was interested in finding out if this was true and what happened to Skinner and wondered if this was all connected.
Meanwhile mysterious man was sitting in his car watching Mulder’s parked car in the parking lot. He was told to stop Mulder from finding out about his sister and to do it at any means. He was slouched in the driver's seat, waiting. Just then the door opened and he saw it was Mulder that walked through the door. He also saw a women exit behind Mulder, but he didn't pay much attention to her.
Mulder walked over and got into his car. Agent Reyes got in the passenger side and looked over at him. "Don't you have someone here to check out the disc?" She was puzzled as to why they were leaving.
"Normally yes, but with it being a sensitive case I have some friends that know more than some at the FBI," Mulder said and pulled out of the parking spot and drove off.
The mysterious man pulled out of the parking spot and started following, staying behind him enough to not draw attention. He knew he couldn't do anything in town, so he waited until they got just outside of the city limits before he sped up, ramming the back of Mulders car.
Mulder and Reyes both jolted in their seats from the impact of getting hit. "Hang on!" Mulder said as he gripped the steering wheel.
The man went to pass him, then swerved and hit the back of the car, sending Mulders car spinning then flipping as it hit the ditch. He glanced around and then headed back to the FBI.
