“Mrs. Peel You Are Needed.”
Emma Peel stared at the little slip of paper she had just found in the geranium she wanted to plant in her garden.
It had been years. She had nearly forgotten about her wild and adventurous life together with John Steed. She had settled down. No, she didn’t lead a normal life, now. She had always been a scientist and she and her team worked on quite a big thing, now. But the days where she chopped men down as if they were unwanted bramblebushes were over.
And now, this.
She didn’t like to admit it, but as soon as she had seen the note and recognized the signature handwriting, her heart had pounded faster and there was an excitement she hadn’t felt in years. The old electricity, calling her to action, calling her to jump into her leather suit and pace out into the great unknown, finding, chasing, and finally bringing down bad guys.
But then, she had read it again.
“Mrs. Peel You Are Needed.”
No, not, “Mrs. Peel We Are Needed,” like he always had worded it.
“Mrs. Peel You Are Needed,” she mumbled to herself.
That wasn’t Steed.
Or was it?
At least it wasn’t like Steed.
But it was, without question, his handwriting.
This was not a call to his old friend to come and join him in an adventure.
This, in his very subtle way was…
A call for help.
