Work Text:

"We didn't want you! We wanted Daniel!" Margaret Buckley screamed at her son. Buck jerks back in surprise, tears in his eyes.

"Who?" Buck asks weakly. Phillip scoffs at him. Maddie is crying, and Chimney is comforting her. He looked like he didn't want to be here.

"Our son! Daniel should've lived, and you dead! Daniel was supposed to be alive, but you failed to do your job!" Margaret sobs, and Buck runs out.

"EVAN!" Maddie yells, but Buck gets to his car and drives. He goes to a house that he's familiar with. The lights are still on. He slams the door open, shuts it, and locks it.

"Buck? What happened? How can I help you?" Eddie's voice cuts through Buck's thoughts. Buck launches onto Eddie, and the human holds him. He comforts Buck to the best of Eddie's abilities.

The following day, Buck sleepily wakes up to a body struggling to get out. The sleepiness is gone when he sees Eddie trying to get out. Once Buck lets go, Eddie kisses his cheek and runs to the bathroom. Buck hears Eddie relieving himself and comes back to bed.

"How are you doing?" Eddie asks his partner. Buck holds him closer. Eddie has been a stable person since he got to the 118. Even during the lawsuit, Eddie had constantly tried to get him to talk to him. Buck finds out about Eddie's street fighting and forces the man to therapy.

"My parents didn't want me. I had an older brother who I was supposed to save, and I failed. Maddie lied to me. They didn't want me," Buck starts to sob. Eddie wraps him in his arms. Eddie never did like Maddie.

"I want you," Eddie mumbles softly for Buck. The wolf whines. Eddie is his lifeline right now. His only hope is to survive this.

Buck is avoiding Chimney three days later at work, and Hen looks at Eddie.

"Any reason Buckaroo is avoiding Chim?" Hen asks his partner. Eddie sighs.

"That's between Chimney and Buck, Hen. Leave it alone," Eddie says. Both know that she won't, but they know that Eddie won't tell her anything. Eddie gets up and goes to the kitchen. Mindlessly, Eddie starts to bake cookies.

"Eddie? Are you okay?" Bobby questions him. Eddie's in the kitchen baking and sees the team watching in shock, awe, and surprise. Eddie's nervous, and Buck goes to his partner. The wolf wants to help his mate bake. After a while, Buck was kicked out of the kitchen. In the middle of the shift, Maddie came by with Athena.

"Evan! Can we talk?" Maddie sees her little brother. Buck tenses, making Eddie go near his partner. The need to be by him is strong.

"I told you that I will talk to you when I'm ready to talk to you. Maddie, please leave," Buck tells his sister. The alpha is ready to rip her throat. Eddie leans into the alpha, which is calming. Athena can sense that there will be an explosion within the 118. Her wolf is on high alert.

"I need to talk to you now, Buck. I need to know that you're not mad at me. I can't have you mad at me. Please, Evan, it wasn't easy. I wanted to tell you sooner," Maddie says, crying. Eddie wraps his arms around his partner.

"You don't get to call me Evan. Not anymore, Maddie. I'm livid with you. You could've told me sooner, but you didn't. Instead, you told Chimney, who then told a wanna-be bomber. Before you told me. I don't want to talk to you until I'm ready to talk to you. I thought it was me and you, but it's just me. You were with your parents. Leave me alone," Buck tells her as he holds onto Eddie. The omega won't let go, even if the alpha tries to let go.

"Come on, man. Maddie was in a tough spot to be in. Show her a little kindness. She was trying to protect you," Chimney says, with bad timing.

"Chim, leave it. Back away from Buck. Leave him alone," Eddie warns. He tries to lead Buck away from the group.

"Buck should be grateful that Maddie has his back. She didn't have to tell him. Buck's being unreasonable," Hen voices out. Buck has to hold his partner back.

"Buck doesn't have to be anything! He has every right to be pissed with Maddie. She should've told him about Daniel. He has the right to know about his dead brother and understand why his parents were abusive towards him. Maddie was a child, but the older she was, the more she should've told Buck. Buck's feelings are valid. You are a hypocrite, Wilson," Eddie says cooly.

"Buck needs to grow up and learn to appreciate the life Maddie gave him. He's being too harsh," Bobby tells Eddie.

"MY ENTIRE LIFE WAS A LIE! I ONLY LIVED TO BE DEFEATED PARTS TO TRY TO SAVE A DEAD MAN. I FAILED TO BE SOMETHING TO ANYONE, AND I THOUGHT THE 118 WAS MY FAMILY! YOU NEVER CARED FOR ME AND IT STOPS NOW! I'M DONE WITH YOU, AND MADDIE, I WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU!" Buck roars, Eddie grabs his key and pushes him to his car. When home, alpha took over Buck.

Evan "Buck" Buckley wakes up to a warm body on top of him, and his knot is in that warm body. He sees his best friend and partner on top of him, covered in his marks. Buck's marks. Buck sniffs him, and his wolf growls. Eddie's his mate, and his knot isn't letting go. When he tries to move, Eddie whimpers.

The knot starts to go away after a long time, and Eddie, still sleeping, whines. Buck doesn't know what to do because he doesn't want to hurt Eddie anymore. However, it's weird, as Buck shouldn't have knotted Eddie. As Eddie's a human omega, and Buck's a shifter. The shifter should never have mated a human omega.

"Shut up," Eddie grumbles against Buck's chest. The man nuzzles Buck's neck, making the man smile. Eddie's not a morning person, but Buck loves him anyway. Eddie's also a cuddler when sleepy. After a while, the knot is gone, and Eddie slowly wakes up. He opens his eyes and sees Buck under him but doesn't move.

"Morning darling," Buck whispers, making Eddie smile.

"Morning, Ev," Eddie says. Buck melts. Buck loves it when Eddie calls him Evan.

"Come on, let's get food," Buck says. Eddie leans his head up to look at him, and Buck looks at him. Confusion over his face.

"How are you feeling?" Eddie asks, making Buck tilt his head confused.

"I'm good. Why?" He answers Eddie's questions.

"What do you remember?" Eddie asks again.

"Eds?" Buck asks.

"What do you remember?" Eddie repeats, making Buck hold on to him. Thinking. After a few minutes, he starts to remember what caused him to be in this situation.

"Eds," Buck's voice is hurt and devastated.

"I'm right here, okay. I'm not going anywhere. I'm here," Eddie comforts Buck.

"You have a hand; give the sperm to the doctors, and they put the sperm into the vagina. Never have to touch a woman if you don't want to," Eddie said.

"You're a virgin?" Buck questions his mate. Eddie goes all shy, making Buck hard. However, it angers Buck, as the mating must have been brutal for Eddie.

"Evan?" Eddie's faint voice brings Buck back.

"Why could I mate with you, Eds?" He asks. Eddie doesn't look at him. Buck smells fear and moves to comfort Eddie.

"I don't have a wolf. I was supposed to be a shifter. However, with how I was raised, my wolf never came. I became a human," Eddie confesses. It hurts, as that makes things worse for Eddie. Buck stills at that. The wolf nuzzles against his mate for comfort.

"You're my mate, and I'll follow you anywhere you want, Evan. What do you want to do?" Eddie says, and Buck holds him. He's only allowing Eddie to call him Evan. Maddie lost that right.

"I want to get out of here. I want you to come with me; you can take the time to heal. I've seen your memories, Eddie. I know that you are still recovering from your childhood. Heal yourself so you can help others. We both have the money, but come with me," Buck says, and Eddie looks at him. Chin on Buck's chest.

"What about the 118?" Eddie asks his mate. Buck looks up.

"They're not the family I had anymore. I want to be somewhere else after discovering what the Buckleys have done. The 118 are forcing me to forgive Maddie. They caused me to be feral. The only way to calm a feral wolf is for their mate to get them out. They forced us to mate," Buck's anger builds up. The man's hair is sticking up.

"Evan?" Eddie asks with caution. He can see the ocean blue change to red. Unknowingly, Buck starts to growl and pins Eddie down. Eddie whines. When Buck calms down again, he sees Eddie belong to him. Eddie's his.

"I want to go at the end of the next month," Buck soothes Eddie's pain. Eddie smiles at his alpha.

"I'll follow you, Evan. Tell me what you want me to do," Eddie says, and the wolf growls at him and plays. After another round, they go to the kitchen, and Buck and Eddie start to plan. All of a sudden, Eddie surprised him.

"I was going to be a dad at nineteen, but the baby mama killed herself and the baby. I was in Afghanistan when it went down," Eddie confessed to his mate. Buck froze.

"I'm sorry, Eds. Did you know the gender?" He asks softly. Eddie curles into him. Eddie knew that it was his mother that caused Shannon to kill herself and their baby. The two knew the risks with Helena Diaz around.

"A boy. I was going to call him Christopher. If I'm pregnant, I don't want a boy to be Christopher. I already had a baby boy with that name," Eddie says. Buck smiles.

"Where do you want to go?" Eddie asks his mate. Buck looks at the map.

"Do you want to continue to be a firefighter or something different?" Buck asks his mate. Buck looks at him as Eddie bites his bottom lip. Buck gently slaps the cheek, forcing Eddie to release his bottom lip.

"What do you have in mind?" He asks, and Buck sighs.

"I don't want to be in California anymore. I can find a job as a lawyer anywhere. I'm certified as a lawyer. I still have status as a lawyer. I know that you have a certification in nursing. I don't know if you want to continue being a firefighter or a nurse. However, I hope that you will be a stay-at-home partner. I make enough for the two of us," Buck says, and Eddie kisses him.

"Buck, why do you want me not to work?" Eddie asks. Buck nuzzles him gently. Eddie leans into him for comfort. Buck knows that Eddie's family is in Vermont, and Eddie feels his real family can't support him. However, unknown to Eddie, Buck had told his abuela about Eddie's childhood, and the woman went to Eddie's actual parents. Eddie's abuela has moved to Vermont to get to know her family. Pepa moved with her.

"Eds, I've seen your memories. I know what your parents did. You joined the army at sixteen. You have never been you. Eddie Diaz. You've got to heal. Going to Texas will destroy you, and I will never want that. If you stay home, you can focus on healing. I want you to heal. Work will make you be somebody else. Stay home and heal," Buck holds the hurting man, and Eddie's scared. Buck comforts Eddie.

"Where?" Eddie hides his head. He won't look at Buck right now. Buck sighs.

"Vermont?" Buck draws out, making Eddie shoot his head at his mate. Buck smiles at his adorable mate. Eddie's brown eyes are wide with hope, wonder, and love. Buck hears his heart beats a little faster, and Eddie moves closer. Eddie gets smaller.

"Would you really move out to Vermont?" Eddie asks, and the 'For me' is left unsaid. Buck rolls Eddie onto his back. He shows Eddie how much he means to him. He bites his mate mark and nuzzles into Eddie. The wolf is pleased with Eddie being his.

"You already had this planned," Eddie asks, once recovered from Buck's loving. Buck smiles. Eddie gets him.

"I have," He says.

"You have a house," Eddie says, making Buck blush and shy smile. The reaction was all Eddie needed to know.

"Let's do it," Eddie says, and Buck sighs. Eddie nods.

"You already planned this. When are they coming?" Eddie asks, making Buck smirk.

"In two days. However, I didn't expect them to do this to us. I wanted you to be with your family," Buck says, and with a bit of pain, Eddie straddles him.

"I believe you, Evan," Eddie says. He kisses his alpha. There's a knock on the door, making them groan. Eddie puts clothes on Buck and him but stays on the bed. Buck lifts him up and puts Eddie on the couch. Making Eddie grumpy. Buck opens it to see Athena and Karen.

"What do I do for you ladies?" Buck says flat, making them look at him.

"We want to know if you and Eddie are okay. Athena told me what had happened and what Eddie had done. Are you two okay?" Karen asks, and Buck sighs. He lets the two in. Athena looks at him with concern and a raised eyebrow. Karen fusses over Eddie. Athena looks at her son, and the alpha hugs her.

"We're moving away. Going to be closer to Eddie's family," Buck tells them.

"Where?" Karen asks. She's going to divorce Hen, grab Denny, and follow. Athena is going to send May their way. Eddie looks to him for this. Which Buck gets. Karen and Athena are mainly Buck's friends, not Eddie's. Eddie doesn't have friends that are friends with Buck.

"Vermont," Buck says, making both women look at Eddie. They don't know much about the state.

"No one would ever look somewhere they don't know," Eddie says, making Buck snort.

"We're following," Karen tells them, and Buck smiles. Buck has his mom and a good friend with him. Buck and Eddie went to HQ to see the Chief waiting for them. When in the Chief's office, the Chief started.

"First of all, I'm sorry for what happened. Mr. Diaz, how are you doing?" The older wolf asks the human. Eddie smiles tiredly at the man.

"I'm good. We're getting past the anger stage of the wolf," Eddie says with a smile, and Buck laughs. The Chief can see and smell Eddie. The man's pregnant, and the younger wolf still goes with the mating. Buck feels more robust as the mating goes on.

"Mr. Buckley?" The Chief asks the other man. Buck sighs.

"Better. Eds's helping," Buck answers. The wolf tells him that the Chief is an alpha.

"What do you want to happen now? Do you still want to return to the 118, transfer to another station, or go somewhere different? What can I help you with? If you do transfer or go somewhere different, I recommend that Mr. Diaz that you go on a LoA. To ensure you and the child are safe," The Chief says. Eddie blushes at this.

"Eddie and I are going to go to Vermont. I will go back to being a lawyer, and Eds?" Buck questions his mate. Eddie never told him what he was going to do.

"I'm going to take some time to focus on me. I want to know who I am as a person, as I never had the chance to experiment," Eddie says, and Buck smiles at him with pride. The Chief sighs in relief.

"I'm sad to see you both go, but with how the department has treated you. Well, I'm not surprised. If you do want to come back, let me know. We would love to have you back. Do take care of yourselves," The Chief says. The young couple smile at him.

Three years later, Eddie is at home with three-year-old twins Charlotte Joy and Caroline Brandi Buckley-Diaz, two-year-old twins Ivy Xena and Victoria Scarlett, and one-year-old twins Sebastian Levi and Andrew Benjamin. Eddie's pregnant again, making his sisters laugh and mate on the couch. Buck had promised never to make Eddie work again, and he followed through. Having six children is hard work.

Buck's a devoted dad and mate, and the family loves him. Eddie feels safe and protected with Buck. The parents and Abuela help when they can, and Eddie helps on the farm. His sisters are loving after being protective of Eddie. Karen and Lydia are a team, and Denny thrives with the family.

At the 118, Chimney, Hen, and Maddie are fired from their job, Bobby gets demoted, Athena divorces Bobby, and Karen divorces Hen. Karen gets Danny and goes to Vermont. Athena takes May and follows her sons. While Harry is with Micheal in Florida.
