Chapter Text
The Duck family finally returned to the mansion after the defeat of F.O.W.L., and the unexpected fall from the plane. But for Della,it was all exciting, and was ready for another adventure.
“Woo! Who’s ready for another adventure?!”asked Della with excitement, pumped up with adrenaline.
“Don’t you remember,Della?Daisy, and I were going to sail around the world.”said Donald, his arm around Daisy’s waist.
“Oh,right.Of course.”said Della. The excitement from the plane fall actually did make her forget about Donald, and Daisy’s little adventure.
“You’re not upset are you?”asked Daisy, clearly remembering how Della strangled her at Funso’s when she found out about her, and Donald’s plans.
“No.Of course not.”Della lied through gritted teeth.
“Great! We’ll be back in a few months.”said Donald, leaving with Daisy.Whether to say goodbye to Scrooge, and the boys,or leave on his trip with Daisy,Della didn’t know.
Nor did she care.At least that’s what she told herself.
Della was gone for ten years, and hoped to catch up with everyone, including her brother, but he wasn’t there when she got back. Then when they returned to Duckburg, he met Daisy.
Girly,frilly,pink wearing Daisy.
Della didn’t know what Donald saw in someone like Daisy. But thankfully, she knew how to calm herself down.
Adventure!
And Della knew exactly who to ask.
“Hey,Uncle Scrooge! When’s our next adventure?”asked Della when she got to his office.
“We need to return the Missing Mysteries, make sure that nobody steals them again, and find the fugitive F.O.W.L. agents.”said Scrooge.
“Oh.”said Della.That didn’t sound like fun.
But Della had her boys, and she was certain that they would like to come on an adventure with her.A mother-sons adventure.
-
“Mom! I think I killed somebody!”said Dewey when Della asked him about going on an adventure.
“Was it a F.O.W.L. agent?”asked Della.
“Yeah.Don Karnage.”
“Then it’s fine! What do you say?You want to go on an adventure?”
“No.”
“Okay, then.”said Della, disappointed that Dewey didn’t want to go on an adventure with her.It was fine. She had two other sons.
-
“Mom,we have a lot more to do before we can go on anymore adventures.”said Huey when Della asked him.
“Okay.”said Della,not surprised by Huey’s answer.Huey was always a responsible person.
Now that left Louie, and it’ll be some sort of miracle that Louie would want to go on another adventure.
-
“No. I would rather relax, and look for another show since Ottoman Empire is over now.”said Louie while looking through his phone.
“Okay.”said Della, unsurprised. But she was still confused by Louie’s love of Ottoman Empire. All they did on the show was make ottomans. If Della wanted to see that then she’d go to an ottoman factory.
But it didn’t matter if anyone didn’t want to go on an adventure with her.Della can go on an adventure by herself.
And she knew exactly where to go.
-
It was colder than Della expected it to be in the Himalayas. It was also harder to find the Abominable Snowman than she thought.
Della was in a snowy gorge with giant footprints in it.But the Abominable Snowman was nowhere to be seen.Della had no choice but to follow the footprints.
They lead her to a beautiful, yet freezing ice cave.
“Hello!”yelled Della when she entered the cave.
There was no answer.
Della wasn’t surprised. She didn’t think the Abominable Snowman could talk. But Della knew that she had to be careful now.It was freezing in the ice cave, and she could die from hypothermia if not careful.
Della kept walking around the cave. There was no sign of the Abominable Snowman.Or anything for that matter.Just icicles.Millions, and millions of icicles. They all looked the same.
Della suddenly realized that she was lost. She had no idea where the cave entrance was, and nobody would know where to look for her.Sure, her family would know that she went on an adventure, but Della made the mistake of not telling anyone where!
Della sat down, and began to close her eyes as she thought of herself dying alone like George Mallardly did, freezing in a cave, alone. She couldn’t help but wonder if her body would ever be found.
Della closed her eyes, thinking of her sons, wishing that she could see them once more, and of Donald, who was Daisy,no doubt enjoying themselves.
-
Della opened her eyes. She was warm, and surrounded by bright light. Was she dead? She tried to raise her arm but something was preventing her arm from moving.
Della suddenly realized that she was back at the mansion, covered in blankets.But-how?
“Oh,good. You’re awake.”said Mrs.Beakley, who arrived with a lunch tray full of warm food.
“How did you find me?”asked Della, weakly. She was certain that she was going to die.
“GPS on the Sunchaser.I’ll go get Mr.McDuck, and the kids.”answered Mrs.Beakley as she put the lunch tray down.
“It’s called the Cloud Slayer!”Della corrected, feeling that Mrs.Beakley called her plane the wrong name on purpose.
Della looked at the lunch tray. There was hot soup, grilled cheese sandwiches, and fresh tea on it.It seemed like Mrs.Beakley knew when she was going to wake up.
“ Mom! ”yelled Huey,Dewey, and Louie when they saw her.
“ Della! ”said Webby, rushing up to Della like the boys did.
But while the kids were excited to see Della was awake,Scrooge wasn’t. He seemed angry.
“Della! What were you thinking?!Going off on a barely functioning plane to the Himalayas!!You could have crashed, and died! You could have gotten lost, and died! You could have frozen, and died! If it wasn’t for that GPS I put on the Sunchaser we wouldn’t have found you! What do you have to say for yourself?”said Scrooge.
“I just wanted an adventure.”explained Della.
“We still have to deal with F.O.W.L., and the Missing Mysteries.”
“But I wanted a fun adventure.”
“Business before pleasure.Speaking of which,Darkwing said he’s located Steelbeak in St.Canard!Let’s go!Della, you stay here.”said Scrooge with a smile.
The kids ran out the door, except for Louie, who stayed behind with Della.
“You’re not going?”Della asked Louie.
“Nah. The last time I went to St.Canard I got put in a cell by Turus Bula, and sent to another dimension by Bradford. I think I’ll pass.Besides, I found a new show.”answered Louie, turning on the television.
“What is it with you, and watching shows about building furniture?”asked Della when she noticed that the show was about building chairs.
“I like the aesthetic.”said Louie.
