Work Text:
Jimmy yawned as he moved around the kitchen lazily. It was early, too early in his opinion, but so was the life of a restaurant owner (not to mention being their only server). Jimmy only had the thought of coffee on his mind, a caffeinated beverage would do wonders for his tired brain. Thank the void they had invested in an instant pot for the apartment. Just as Jimmy had everything whirring, an arm circled around his waist and a kiss was placed on his cheek. From the sheer height difference, he could tell it was Tango.
“Good morning Princess,” Tango mumbled, sounding just as tired as Jimmy felt.
“Morning Tango,” Jimmy replied easily. Void he loved this man so much. “Sleep well Firefly?”
“Yeah, you and Skizz sure know how to cuddle,” Tango let out a chuckle, deeper than usual from the early rise, “best sleep I’ve had in awhile if not ever.”
“Good, I’m glad. With you two around I’ve been sleeping better too. In any case, the-” Jimmy was suddenly cut off by a hand carding through one of his wings and a kiss to his temple. A soft coo spilled from the canary’s lips at the sensation.
“Morning Jiggles,” Skizz murmured smugly, wings fluttering with mirth.
Jimmy huffed, “You are something else, you know that?” Jimmy turned to level Skizz with a raised eyebrow and a poorly concealed smile.
“Mhm, you love me though,”
“Yeah, yeah I do.” The two met in the middle for a sweet peck before pulling away so the angel could start working on breakfast.
“I thought the mission was to annoy Tango, and not me, hm? Isn’t that what we had discussed at the beginning of all this?”
“That doesn’t mean you can escape at least a little teasing, sorry love,” Skizz said. He quickly moved to the fridge to grab some simple breakfast items. Void knows that if he didn’t make it fast, they’d be late to open. Which would not be happening on Skizz’s watch.
“Ahem, feelin’ a little left out here guys,” Tango pouted. Skizz let out another chuckle, softer this time.
“Sorry Top, have I been neglecting you?” Skizz asked mock sweetness. He moved closer to the blaze-born whose tail flame was flicking in a half irritated, half playful way.
“Yes,” Tango huffed. Skizz smiled and pulled him in for a peck on the lips.
“Better?”
“Much.”
Jimmy laughed and started filling their mugs with the coffee that had frankly been done for awhile but was forgotten in their usual morning antics. The avian started whistling a soft tune as he fixed the mugs to each of their tastes. It was comforting, the routine they had established. Jimmy could vaguely hear the tap running from the loo, Tango most likely had gone to wash his face and take care of anything else in his morning routine. Something Jimmy and Skizz did right after waking up. Tango wanted to be there to greet both of his partners though, his rancher was such a sweetheart.
“Happy, songbird?” Tango asked. Jimmy jumped, not having noticed Tango’s return. He had been far too caught up in the domestic bliss of his thoughts.
“Mhm, why’d you ask?”
“You were whistling, you only do that when you’re really happy. It lets us know we’re taking good care of you.” Tango placed a hand on Jimmy’s cheek, running his thumb over the soft skin. The canary sighed and leaned into the touch, a pretty flush had started to colour his face at his partner’s sweet words.
Skizz soon joined them, “Coffee done?”
“Mhm,” Jimmy said. He leaned into the taller man whose arms had snuck around his waist.
“Good, we can eat then…in a moment.”
The trio took a little more time to enjoy each other’s presence, cuddling and sharing kisses in between sweet words. Eventually, they started eating. It was no doubt going to be another long day, but they had each other, and honestly, what else did they need? This was perfect, it was them. Light, teasing banter and sweet stolen moments. This restaurant that they had poured their blood, sweat, and tears into, a labour of love. Their love. Not only for their work, but for each other. It was a place each of the men hoped would continue to be a bright spot in their lives for a long time to come.
