Summary
As the pressure built, Derek heard a voice. “Do you know what you have done, Little Lord?” The voice said. It was deceptively soft, almost gentle. It sent waves of pain crashing through him.
“Put an end to you?” Derek said, a final triumphant grin stretched across his face.
“I already told you, Little Lord. Why would I put the instructions to my demise within my own domain?” The voice cooed. Derek froze, and the grin slipped off of his face.
“What?” He asked, his voice small. He won, didn't he? The King had panicked when Derek recited the spell, hadn't It?
“You were never bait for Avery. He was bait for you. The mind is not so easily turned unusable for my purposes. I wanted you to find that book. I wanted your curiosity and selflessness to lead you to ME, over, and over, and over again. And then, I wanted you to let me in.”
(Or, for the story The King wants to tell, one character must break, and the other must pick up the pieces.)

(I am running. I am running and I can’t stop, I can never stop. I won’t make it in time, not even once, but I can’t stop. Strange worlds flash around me but I don’t spare them a single glance. I am, for once, early. It does nothing but bring me pain. I scream a plea to the Universe, and It tells me that I am loved. I take the star offered to me, and eat it.)
"He tries his best, managing to stay just barely ahead of the destruction for the most part, but he must not have been moving fast enough, because eventually a mountain breaks right under his feet. Avery can’t manage to save himself, and he has just barely enough time to see the ground, realize there even is a ground here, and know that this is going to hurt before he lands on hard stone. The height he fell from combined with the unforgiving surface is too much for his slime to protect him from, and his core shatters on impact. He was right. It hurts far more than any death he’s ever respawned from."
Avery goes through a time loop in order to save his hero, with help from a Guiding Light like in old story books.

Acts one and two went so perfectly, so according to plan. The human drive to succeed, to learn, and to save those you care for is so beautiful, and every bit of it was on full display. But both the audience and the leads want a better ending, and there are so many questions they both want answered. The third actor will oblige, and give them the final acts they so desperately crave, the connections they want to see and have.
Are you ready, little heroes? Are YOU ready, adoring audience? The intermission is almost over, and Act Three is just beginning. -

Hermes’ form began to glow a sickly orange, radiating in waves as a pair of ram horns sprouted alongside the wings on his head. Odysseus watched with morbid curiosity as the rest of Hermes' body darkened, creating the illusion of a void besides the luminescent glow of his eyes and wings. His mouth seemed to glow with each word he spoke, but Odysseus couldn’t be sure as the deity took another step away from him and towards the goddess that haunted his life for seven years.
“I have been patient, daughter of Pleione, but you have tested me. I came here with no intention of creating conflict, but you have given me NO choice!”

Summary
I've seen a lot of Athena becomes a mortal AUs but they're all set just after god games which is reasonable but I thought it could be interesting to set one near the end of the Troy saga, how does Athena interact with Odysseus' crew? What caused this situation? How does Athena adapt to mortal life when she's in dangerous waters and not safe on Ogygia? What challenges will pop up on this journey?
I'm excited to write this.
