Chapter Text
Charlie and Em bounced down the Heavenly streets talking a mile a minute about all the cute animals they saw at the zoo.
“The koala was so soft! I can’t believe that they are actually that soft!” Charlie gushed as Em giggled at her.
“I know right! The chinchillas were even fluffier-” Em added to the over excited madness, before they were interrupted by Charlie’s growling stomach making the two pause, and make Charlie give an awkward sheepish laugh.
“Oh dear! I am such a terrible host to have forgotten to feed you!” Emily rambled.
“It’s alright- “ Charlie started to say before being cut off by Emily.
“I know an absolutely delightful little restaurant not far from here. You are absolutely going to love it!” Em gushed as she grabbed Charlie’s hand and dragged the hungry yet very excited Princess of Hell, about three more blocks from where they were.
Soon the two beings arrived at a small and quaint restaurant called, ‘Louise’. On the outside it looked very beautiful, with high curved wooden arches, big windows, flowers and vines sprouting all over the place. Faintly, jazz music could be heard escaping the establishment. It looked very beautiful and picturesque, yet somehow if you looked around at the other buildings it looked quite a bit out of place.
Once inside, Charlie can see that Em was indeed not exaggerating at all, it was a very small restaurant, as inside stood only three tables, and one out of the three was occupied.
Em giddily bounced at the door before leading Charlie to one of the two empty tables, specifically on by the window which gave the customer a beautiful view of Heaven, framed by flowers and plants growing on the outside of the building.
“This is like the best place to get food in Heaven. Mimi is an excellent chef!” Em said, handing over a menu to Charlie.
“Mimi?” Charlie asked, she had assumed that the chef would have been someone named ‘Louise’ as that is the name of the place.
“Mhm, Mimi is the owner of this place as well as the chef, and the waiter, and everything actually that I think about it.” Em briefly got lost in thought.
Charlie was about to ask another question but was distracted by the sudden sound of hooves clicking against wooden floors, she looked up just in time to see a woman emerge from the kitchen, she appeared to be just past middle age but not quite a senior. To Charlie her appearance looked like a cross between a sheep or a ram, as amongst her pale blue afro a pair of white horns or antlers could be visible, and a bird of some kind, judging by the dark blue wings that sprouted from her back that were obviously angelic but they had patterns on them that were different to all other being she has seen in Heaven, they reminded her of the birds that she saw at the zoo, also kind of reminded her of Husk’s wings. She couldn’t quite make out the pattern but it looked oddly familiar.
The woman’s wings blended nicely with her dark blue skin. The outlier in Charlie’s theory of the owner of the establishment being a mix of bird and sheep was the tail, it looked like a wolf's tail that peeked out between the folds of her dress.
“Mimi!” Em exclaimed happily, and the sheep and bird hybrid, Mimi, turned to face the new customers.
Mimi’s face is not what Charlie expected at all, the face looked like it was a mix of canine and feline features that looked soft and motherly at first glance, but the closer you look the more you begin to question yourself. Mimi’s appearance at first glance looks very kind, welcoming and innocent. If she were to set foot in Hell, everyone would see her as the prey hybrid that she is. However, once she looks in your direction you can see that there is more than meets the eye, that perhaps she is just as much a predator as any monster in Hell. Upon closer inspection, Mimi’s irises are not black as Charlie assumed but rather a deep shade of red, not so far from Charlie’s own eye colour and when Mimi speaks, rows of razor sharp teeth are revealed, which seems so odd on angel.
“Emily! It’s so good to see you sweetie.” Mimi replied, with just as much enthusiasm as Em stood up and happily hugged Mimi.
“And who might this darling be?” Mimi asked, looking down at Charlie, who was still seated at the table.
As soon as Charlie noticed the two angels face her, she scrambled up to stand.
“This is Charlie!” Emily happily introduced, as Charlie was trying to compose herself and not seem too awkward.
“Hi. I am Charlotte Morningstar, but you can call me Charlie.” Charlie introduced herself, and offered her hand for a handshake before growing slightly self conscious when Mimi didn’t shake it at first.
“Morningstar? Like Lucifer Morningstar?” Mimi asked.
“Mhm, he’s my dad-”
“She’s the Princess of Hell.” Em cut in, excitedly.
Charlie was about to retract her hand, when it was grabbed by Mimi, in a firm handshake.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Princess. I am Miriam Hartfelt but everyone calls me Mimi.” Mimi replied, and she sounded genuine which made Charlie relax.
All the commotion and conversation in the restaurant drew the attention of the other sole occupant of the restaurant. She didn’t say anything, nor interfere but her curiosity peaked. A Princess of Hell? Here? How?
“Alright ladies, I will leave you to be, to decide on what you would like. Call me when you are ready to order.” With that Mimi left the two to browse the menus.
The two sat back down, and picked up their own respective menus, Emily proceeded to comment on all the foods and how good they were, recommending practically everything to Charlie. Charlie would have fully engaged in Em’s enthusiasm if she knew what any of these dishes were, none of them seemed familiar to the Princess. Well almost none, when she was about to pick any dish at random, she spotted a familiar sounding dish on the next page of the menu. Jambalaya.
Once the girls decided what they wanted, Em called Mimi over and they ordered their food.
“Jambalaya? Good choice, your majesty. Not many people go for that one.” Mimi commented, before Charlie could say anything, Mimi has vanished off to the kitchen.
Unphased, Charlie and Emily continued talking to each other animatedly for the next twenty minutes while their food was being prepared. With the other restaurant customer briefly glancing at them every so often, but ultimately continuing to read her book as she sipped on her tea.
As soon as their food arrived, the two instantly dug in.
“This is so good!” Charlie praised.
“I know right. Mimi is the best.” Em commented.
“It tastes almost the same as at home.” She added.
That gave Mimi pause, as she stopped tidying up the restaurant.
“Do you have a place like this in Hell?” Emily asked, her curiosity was through the roof. The two were also almost done with their meal in record time.
“Well, em hm. I don’t actually know if there is something similar- I don’t venture into public that often- but- I know-” Charlie’s jumbled explanation was interrupted by a harmonious ringtone, which was in fact Em’s phone.
“Oh I am so sorry! Sera needs me. You enjoy the rest of your food, I will be back soon.” Em quickly excused herself and vanished in a bright flash of light, leaving Charlie speechless for a moment before she continued eating her Jambalaya in peace, with jazz music playing quietly in the background.
Once Charlie was done with her food, Mimi came over to collect her plate and Em’s unfinished plate as well.
“Umm, Mimi?” Charlie spoke up sheepishly.
“Yes dear?” Mimi replied warmly.
“Is it okay if I ask you a few questions?” Charlie asked.
“Sure darling. Just let me put these away.” Mimi said and quickly cleared the table before disappearing to the kitchen.
In the meantime, Charlie took her time to properly admire her surroundings. The restaurant was very cosy, filled with various plants that unlike the ones in Hell weren’t poisonous or carnivorous. On the furthest wall, closest to the kitchen, stood a gramophone and an old fashioned radio. The lovely jazz music was being emitted from the gramophone, whilst the radio stood ominously silent next to it.
Charlie didn’t have much time to observe the rest, as Mimi came out of the kitchen, ditching her apron by the counter near the kitchen and headed towards Charlie, plonking in the chair opposite her, where Em sat.
“What would you like to know?” Mimi asked.
“Um, I guess I would like to know what Heaven is like for someone who wasn’t born here? Like sinners in hell.” Charlie clarified.
“Well, it’s nice I suppose. Peaceful. Clean, calm. Very boring to be honest.” Mimi replied.
“Really?! But you have so many cool places here! So many cool things! How is it boring?” Charlie inquired.
“I guess when you are new to Heaven, it all seems so wonderful and exciting and peaceful. And it is, it’s beautiful. When I first got here I really liked it. I missed my family on Earth, but I hoped that I would reunite with them in Heaven.” Mimi cut herself off, as her gaze drifted off.
Not seeing the slight shift in Mimi, Charlie plowed on.
“So did you get to reunite with them? Was it exciting? What gets people into Heaven? What got you into Heaven? Sorry if that’s a personal question, I am just-” Charlie asked, feeling a mixture of excitement and nerves.
Mimi gave a small chuckle before interrupting Charlie’s nervous ramblings.
“Yeah. I got to reunite with my mum and dad a couple of years after I died. They luckily died of old age unlike me-”
“What happened to you? Oh I am sorry! I am interrupting again.” Charlie shrunk back on herself, too excited to learn more about the angel in front of her.
Mimi luckily took no offense and found it rather amusing instead.
“One question at a time, dear. But to answer your new question, first since I suppose it's on topic. I was murdered by my husband. And as you can infer from that, I didn’t reunite with him in Heaven. I doubt it very much that he made it up here, and if he somehow did. I do not wish to see him again.” Mimi explained before taking a big sad sigh.
Charlie stayed quiet, letting Mimi compose herself and continue her story.
“After I reunited with my parents, the next couple of decades were lovely. I built this place, finally making my dream come true. I always wanted to own a small restaurant when I was alive but during the time I lived, a woman, especially a woman of my complexion could never have been allowed such a luxury of owning a place like this. I also built this place, hoping that one day, when my son joined me in Heaven, he could see that I didn’t give up on my dreams, like I did in life. But as time stretched on and decades piled on, I became more and more concerned that I would never see my baby. I-I-” Mimi’s voice cracked, as a century of emotions barrelled into her. Mimi paid Charlie no mind as she was lost in her own memories, however, if she would have looked at the Princess or the other occupant of the restaurant she would have noticed that there was not a dry eye in sight.
“At the time. I thought- I hoped. That my little darling, got luckier than me. That he managed to live a long and fulfilling life despite what happened. But when time plowed on. When my son would of been in his seventies, I began to doubt that. Another decade would pass, and I would spend hours crying, worry about him. My mind would constantly supply me with ‘what ifs’. What if he is already in Heaven and we just haven’t found each other, but what if he is still alive and I am crying over nothing, what if he never recovered from what happened when-, what if he died that night as well and got sent to Hell-” Mimi was hyperventilating as tears streamed down her cheeks.
“Hey hey hey! You are okay. Mimi, everything is fine. You need to breathe. These are imaginary situations, we don’t know if any of them are real. What if he is still alive!” Charlie always the optimist, tried to console Mimi. It worked a little bit, as Mimi tried to match her breathing to Charlie’s, slowing down the panic attack, it still lingered, the fear still grappling at Mimi’s heart but with her focus on Charlie it was slowly ebading as she tried to be more present in the moment rather than let the memories consume her.
“I am sorry for that, dear.” Mimi apologies.
“Oh no need to worry. It’s fine. Are you okay?” Charlie asked, extending her arms for a hug, which Mimi instantly took her up on and oh wow-! Mimi’s hugs were incredible! This must be what it feels to get a hug from your grandmother that you love dearly but haven’t seen in a while. Charlie thought. She loved hugs.
“He is not.” Mimi whispered.
“Huh?” Charlie made a confused noise that was muffled by Mimi’s shoulder.
“He is not alive. He was in his twenties when I died and I died over a century ago. I searched all of Heaven for him. He is not here. So he must be in Hell. I just hope. With all my heart that he is alright.” Mimi confessed, quietly to Charlie. Not letting the embrace go for several more seconds.
“Me too.” Charlie said sincerely as the two parted and Mimi sat back down while Charlie remained standing.
“If he is in hell, I hope he doesn’t blame himself for what happened. It wasn’t his fault. The fault fully rests on me. If I am being totally honest, I don’t know how I even made it to Heaven. The life I lived, the decisions I made, should have brought me to Hell. He was the only good thing in my life, and I betrayed him so badly, the things I let his father do to him because I was a coward are unforgivable! I hope that my piece of shit of a husband is rotting in the deepest pits of hell and my darling never gets to cross paths with him.” Mimi’s tone was slowly curling from melancholy to anger as old memories of her husband resurfaced.
“If your son is still alive in Hell, hopefully he would be interested in my project. It's called the ‘Hazbin Hotel’. It aims to rehabilitate sinners and help them get to Heaven, and reunite with their loved ones but so far the progress has been really slow and with the extermination coming up so soon-”
“Wait ‘still’?” It took Mimi a moment to process what Charlie was saying but luckily it didn't take the other occupant as long to process the Princess’s words.
“Exterminations?!” A new voice exclaimed from the nearby table. Charlie faced the other Heavenly being, she reminded her a lot of Angel with her four arms, white and pink fur, did she have four legs as well? How did that work? Not the right thought process.
“Yes…Wait-..You don’t know?!” Charlie exclaimed, taking a step back in shock.
“No! What-” Mimi was speechless.
“If ‘still alive in hell’?! What sort of exterminations?!” Shouted the spider angel.
Despite the shock at the revelation, Charlie managed to form a cohesive sentence, “Every year angels come down to permanently exterminate sinners because of overpopulation-”
“Angels are killing our families!” Mimi slammed her fists on the table and rose, rage like no other coursing through her, she bared her razor sharp teeth as her eyes glowed a demonic red, unlike the angelic being that she is, what Charlie at first thought were random patterns on Mimi’s wings but appear to be some sort of symbols, began to glow blue and swirl ominously while everyone processed what they just learned. Those patterns still looked oddly familiar.
The spider angel heavily fell back onto her seat, her wings fluffed up in stress.
“Oh Anthony, please be okay.” She whispered, practically in a prayer.
Whilst a hysterical laugh escaped Mimi, making Charlie step back in concern. She was really concerned. Concerned for Mimi, concerned for the spider angel, concerned for Mimi’s son, concerned for someone named Anthony, and most of all concerned about how her meeting with the Seraphim'ss will go. Did they know about the exterminations? They must do! How else would a sudden large departure of angels from Heaven once a year be explained?
“Hey Mimi, please calm down. I know you are worried. But I am sure your son is okay, if he's anything like you-” and if he's anything like the angry Mimi that she is seeing in front of her, she is sure her son is doing fine “-he will be totally fine.”. Angry Mimi looked absolutely terrifying, if Charlie didn’t know her to be an angel she would have assumed her to be an Overlord.
Trying to keep herself from freaking out about her discoveries, Charlie tried to persuade the two angels to talk about their relatives in Hell. Perhaps she would be able to find them, and help them redeem themselves so they could all reunite.
The spider angel was the first to speak up.
“My twin brother is in Hell. His name is Anthony- my name is Molly by the way.” Molly said with a shaky smile.
“He died in 1947 from a drug overdose. I don’t know if describing his appearance in life would help narrow it down or just make it more confusing if his appearance is very different now. He used to be very talkative and gentle, loved to cook and the colour pink. We would often cook together but our father hated it when he helped me in the kitchen, saying that it was a woman's job.”
Charlie and Molly spoke a bit more about Anthony and what he might look like now, to help Charlie find him. Whilst, Mimi calmed down.
“Why don’t you take a picture of Molly, so that when you find Anthony you can have proof that you are not bluffing. And eh. Perhaps her angelic appearance and his demonic appearance are similar, they are twins after all.” Mimi suggested. Charlie’s eyes instantly lit up.
“That’s an excellent idea! Why didn’t I think of that!” Charlie exclaimed before asking Molly if she was alright with that, she was. The two girls took many pictures of just Molly, as well as Molly and Charlie.
“Would you like me to take a picture of you as well?” Charlie asked Mimi.
“Why?” Mimi replied.
“So that I can show it to your son. Even if he or Anthony don’t get redeemed, I think they would like to know that you both are well.” Charlie said with a gentle smile as she held up her hellphone.
Mimi looked at the hellphone for a long while before agreeing.
“Very well, you may.” Mimi gave her permission with an exhausted sigh.
“Yay!” Charlie happily exclaimed and pulled up her front facing camera to take a selfie of both of them. As soon as Mimi appeared in the view of the camera, the radio and gramophone behind her, the camera briefly glitched with odd symbols before settling back to normal. Neither Mimi nor Charlie paid that any mind, but if they did they would notice that in the pictures they took only the gramophone could be visible in the background.
Before Charlie could interrogate Mimi about her son, Em burst into the cafe.
“I am so sorry it took so long! Quick Charlie! Or we will be late for the court session.” Em announced, startling everyone with her presence and dragging off Charlie swiftly.
Notes:
What do we think? Do you like it? Do you hate it?
Personally I am quite surprised myself the way this fic ended up, it really diverged from my plan but I don't mind it :) I am just not a fan of how I ended it. I might go back at some point and re-write it.
Chapter 2: Roses that made Lilies Bleed
Summary:
So everything that happened in between these two chapters in the canon, has stayed pretty much the same. I hope that makes sense. So the angelic council meeting happened as it did in episode 6, Charlie found out about Vaggie happened, the deal with Alastor happens but the conversation with Rosie goes slightly differently.
Notes:
I wrote this while very tired and sleepy, I apologize for any mistakes and sentences that make no sense. If you spot one, please tell me. I really need to proof read this again.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
Rosie threw the curtains to her room wide open to let a sulking Charlie into her room leaving Alastor behind in the reception room, which the other Overlord didn’t mind. He didn’t particularly want to deal with the emotional romantic turmoil that Charlie was bound to explode from in a second and he is the worst person to deal with that.
“Alright, what have you out of sorts, darlin'? You clearly have more on your mind than angels.” Rosie stated, with a wide smile as she turned back to the curtain that acted as a door and drew them closed, meanwhile casting a silencing enchantment on the room.
“It feels like all I have on my mind are angels.” Charlie quietly admitted.
“What was that dearie?”
“What do you do when someone you love lies to you about who they are?” Charlie asks as she hugs herself tightly.
“Romance? My specialty. C’mon, dearie, details, details!” Rosie claps her hands briefly and approaches Charlie with open arms, leading her to sit on the chaise.
“My girlfriend is an exorcist angel…and she never told me.” Charlie says, her hands flailing in the air before returning back to her clutching her side.
“Oh shit.” Rosie gasped, as she placed her hands on her hips.
“Quite the secret. How does that make you feel?” She asks.
“Just…” Charlie whimpered miserably. “Angry, I guess.” Charlie lets her anger briefly wash over her.
“Angry because we share everything! Because she always supported me, and my ideas, and and and now I don’t know whether or not that was just more of the lies! What if it was? What if Emily, Mimi and Molly were all lying to me too!” Charlie broke off her thought process with a gasp.
“That’s a horrible thing to think! Do I think that? Yes!...Hm n-no…Kinda? I don’t know.” Charlie felt like she was experiencing a full mental breakdown before flopping down onto the chaise, as tears began to gather in her eyes.
Seeing that Charlie finally got all her jumbled thoughts out of her, Rosie decided to speak up.
“You said you love this girl?” Rosie asked, as she slowly approached.
“Yes…or, well, I…” Charlie took a moment to really think about it. “Yes. Yes I do.” Charlie confessed.
“Have you ever once doubted that she loves you in return?” Rosie further inquired as she sat down next to Charlie, who only briefly managed to shake her head, and she hasn’t doubted that Vaggie loves her in return.
“Well, then what’s the problem?” Rosie asks, trying to help Charlie organize her thoughts and work out her feelings.
“She took part in the very thing we’ve been working so hard to end.” Charlie says, sounding absolutely shattered.
“Come here, dearie.” Rosie offers as she opens her arms for a hug, which Charlie readily accepts and buries her face against Rosie’s shoulder, letting small whimpers escape her, as a lone tear falls down her cheek. This feels oddly similar to Mimi, except with Mimi it felt like she was getting a warm and comforting hug from a grandmother. Coming from Rosie, it feels like a hug from a mother, a mother Charlie wished that Lilith could have been. Lilith never hugged her like this, perhaps when Charlie was very young she did but not since.
“Well..” Rosie speaking up broke Charlie from whatever thought process she spiraled down to, however, she didn’t let go of the Overlord, her arms only tightened around her.
Almost subconsciously in return, Rosie’s own arms tightened around Charlie, whilst one of her hands was drawing lazy circles on the princess’s back the other traveled up to her head and gently massaged her scalp, helping to soothe her distress, even if that did make Charlie cry harder. Reminding that this is all she wanted from her own mother, the knowledge and comfort that someone was on her side even when all of hell was against her.
Unperturbed at the state her dress was taking, Rosie continued talking gently, her voice was slightly muffled by Charlie’s hair but Charlie still heard her loud and clear.
“Tell me about the other angels you have met.” It’s not what Rosie wanted to talk about, but it was quite clear to the cannibal Overlord that Charlie was in no state to talk about Vaggie or the hotel at the moment, so she tried to change course briefly and make Charlie’s melancholy thoughts focus on something else that wouldn’t cloud her judgment of the exterminator angel.
“Oh umm. Well, when I and Va-.” She stopped herself, thought about it for a moment. “When I and Vaggie first got to Heaven, we met Sera and Emily they were both Seraphims. Emily was really nice, she showed me around Heaven and took me to this lovely small restaurant called ‘Louise’ it was run by a soul called Mimi-”
“Mimi is an interesting name for a human.” Rosie commented. Mimi sounded familiar to her but she couldn’t quite remember why, so did a restaurant called ‘Louise’, she feels like someone has mentioned that to her before.
“Ah, well, Mimi isn’t her actual name. Her name is Miriam but she likes to be called Mimi.” Charlie explained and then continued talking about Mimi and Molly whilst Rosie got enraptured in her own mind.
Miriam? Oh. Oh!
That’s why it felt familiar, memories from a drunken night decades ago resurfaced back in the Overlords mind. It was just after a brutal battle between Vox and Alastor both somehow survived it, and Alastor came to her Emporium, bruised and bleeding, looking worse than she had ever seen him. She helped him treat his wounds over a bottle of absinthe as they talked about nothing in particular, and that is when he finally spoke to her about his past. From what Rosie knows, Alastor barely remembers what happened after his battle with Vox, luckily she wasn’t as drunk as him, so she remembers more of that night.
That night, Alastor spoke of his mother and how much he missed her, he confessed that when he was little instead of his first word being ‘Ma’ or ‘Mama’, it was ‘Mi’ and ‘Mimi’, he didn’t realize until later that that happened because his father would always yell at his mother, and would shout her name. He spoke of how his mother would gush about her dreams of a better and brighter future for both of them, she wanted for them to get away, move away from New Orleans and perhaps Louisiana as a whole, leave their life behind. She wanted to open a restaurant and name it Louise, after her sister, who amusingly to her was named after Louisiana and unfortunately passed away two years before Alastor was born. There were several other things Rosie remembers Alastor saying but with the amount of time that has passed and the amount of alcohol that they consumed that night, her memories have become quite fuzzy.
After that night, the two Overlords grew closer than they have ever been and the bond they formed has only strengthened over time.
It does bring Rosie great joy the knowledge that her best friends mother is safe in Heaven, like he wanted her to be. Her thoughts briefly wander, scouring for memories, as she tunes back into what Charlie had been saying, the princess’s thoughts having drifted back to her beloved.
“Isn’t that silly hotel of yours all about redemption?”
“Mhm.” Charlie mumbled into the fabric of Rosie’s dress.
“Perhaps this girl was trying to redeem herself too?” Rosie’s words made Charlie’s thoughts halt for a moment.
Slowly, Charlie twisted a bit in Rosie’s hold so that she could face the Overlord better without breaking the hug.
“She knows better than anyone that I believe in second chances. Why not tell me?” Charlie asked, trying to understand why Vaggie would withhold something like this from her for three years.
Sighing deeply, Rosie gathered her thoughts and looked down at Charlie before speaking again.
“It can be difficult to admit to things you’re not proud of, especially if those things hurt the ones you love. She fucked up, sure. She’s flawed, but hey, who down here isn’t? If there’s anything I’ve learned, it’s that words are cheap, but actions, they speak the truth. So, what have her actions said?” Rosie prompted.
“That she believes in me and what we’re doing. Right now she’s off learning how to protect everything we’ve worked for and I can’t even pitch my hotel right.” Charlie sighed angrily in frustration as she finally broke away from the hug, Rosie let her go.
“Well. how do you normally explain your hotel?”
“By singing but that never works.” Charlie admitted.
“It will work here. Trust me.” Rosie said with a wide grin that could rival Alastor's. If Charlie didn’t know better, she would have thought that the two were siblings.
Notes:
What do we think?! Do we like it do we hate it? What will Rosie do with this information and how will it affect the finale :o
Fun fact I already have the finale of this fic planned out, so yes there will be at least another chapter coming, but I don't know if I should add a chapter about either Charlie finding out about either Alastor or Angel, or Angel finding out about Molly. But not Alastor finding out about Mimi because I have that planned for the finale.
I would love to hear your comments and opinions :D
Chapter 3: More Than Anything We Will Live Tomorrow
Summary:
Some realisations are had :)
Chapter Text
“She’s filled with potential that I could guide.” Alastor sung, as he watched Charlie be carried away with a sinister smile, before he got yanked back towards Rosie, who didn’t seem pleased with him.
After a momentary pause where it felt like the two had a wordless conversation, Rosie continued singing, “Stick with her -”
“You’ll be on the winning side.” Alastor finished. Before the two rejoined the rest, Rosie pulled him in closer and whispered.
“We are talking before you two leave.” Despite being spoken so quietly and over such commotion, Alastor heard her loud and clear. He gave a brief nod of acknowledgement and Rosie’s briefly angry and serious expression morphed back into the sinister smile it always is, like nothing happened. To be honest, Alastor was quite terrified of what she might wish to talk about.
They had 24 hours left before Adam and his exterminators were coming for them. Sir Pentious was putting finishing touches on his weapons. Cheri Bomb and Angel Dust were training with their weapons. Charlie, Vaggie and Husk were all trying to teach the cannibals to fight. No one had any idea what Nifty was up to, and perhaps that was for the best. Or maybe that was actually quite a terrifying thought. Let’s hope she is inside the hotel. Similarly, Alastor appeared to be quite absent at the moment as well.
Several hours later, when the evening was upon them. Charlie brought everyone together, at the front of the hotel and presented her speech, with Vaggie cheering her on. She believed that they might actually stand a chance!
“We’re all going to die! Hahahah!” Niffty cackled, as everyone looked at her, horrified.
Deciding to take the lead, Vaggie exclaims: “All right! Let’s give it up for not dying! Love not dying! Drinks?” She offered, hoping to bring everyone’s spirits back. It seems to have worked.
Several minutes later everyone returned to the hotel’s bar to have their final drinks before…who knows what’s going to happen tomorrow.
“I mean, personally, I’m excited.” Vaggie admits to Charlie. “It’s been a long time since I stabbed anyone and really meant it, you know what I mean?” As Vaggie spoke, Charlie grew slightly concerned but ultimately didn’t focus too much on it, there was after all a chance that they could start a full out war tomorrow. Or die.
The friendly joyous chatter continued before Sir Pentious piped up, “Here’s to being alive today and not dying tomorrow.”
Everyone cheered with Cherri Bomb enthusiastically encouraging everyone to chug their drinks.
“Last day of the afterlife and you are not off snorting a line off some hunk’s abs?” Husk asked with a smile, as he gazed at Angel.
“Ehh, you fucked one cannibal pool boy, you fucked ‘em all.” Angel shrugged.
“I guess you have changed.” Husk commented, smirking.
“I guess I could have.” Angel replied, as he looked down at his drink.
“Isn’t it crazy that whatever happens tomorrow, could change Hell forever. Like. Exterminations have been happening for CENTURIES! And tomorrow we could either doom all of Hell or end them once and for all.” Angel vented as he stared at his drink, not really looking at it, his mind swirling with melancholic thoughts.
“Hitler died in his very first extermination.” Husk commented, trying to bring Angel out of his spiraling thoughts.
“Wait-Fuck- What?!” Angel looked up at Husk swiftly, getting whiplash from the comment.
Husk chuckled as he turned around to go and grab another bottle to refill his own drink and Angel’s.
“Hey! Hold on a minute there Mister, you can’t just drop something like that and walk away-!” Angel shouted at his retreating back. It didn’t take Husk long to come back with a new full bottle.
“It’s true. Apparently when he manifested in Hell, he wasn’t liked at all-”
“-big shocker.” Angel interrupted.
“- he ended up making a lot of enemies that disguised themselves as his allies and when it came time for the extermination, they all betrayed him. Revenge for what he did to them when they were all alive I suppose.” Husk finished his short tale by taking a swig straight from the bottle.
“Huh. That’s both crazy and not surprising. I wonder what other powerful monsters like that from up above met the same fate down here.” Angel commented absentmindedly. “What about Jack the Ripper? Surely someone like that in life would have become an Overlord down here or did Smiles take him out because he couldn’t handle competition.” Angel commented with amusement, expecting some similar fate to have befall the British serial killer.
“Jack the Ripper never made it to Hell.” Husk said bluntly, with a furrowed brow as he thought back and what he knew.
“You are shitting me! Ain’t no way! That fucker has to be in Hell. How is that possible?!” Angel slammed his drink on the bar counter in disbelief.
Husk didn’t have an answer to that, so he just shrugged it off. Another mystery of the universe, he supposes.
“Listen, I don't know. But his victims ended up down here and they wanted to extract their revenge. Obviously. But they never found him. Oddly, as soon as his victims landed in Hell, they were never able to disclose what he looked like or who he was. Like they were under contract. I guess the mystery of who Jack the Ripper was never solved. Even after they all died, because there ain’t no way he is still alive. Way over a century has passed.” Husk explained, enjoying how Angel’s expression became more and more disbelieving.
“That’s batshit crazy.” Angel commented, but otherwise left completely speechless.
“Maybe he used the same magic shit Al uses.” Angel commented offhandedly as he grabbed the bottle from Husked and topped up his drink all the way to the top before throwing it back and drinking the whole thing in one go.
“Huh, you might be onto something.” Husk replied, as he briefly thought about it. It wasn’t out of the realm of possibility but ultimately it was not important, maybe the guy did drop down to Hell and go instantly exterminated or is bound in a deal to an Overlord. No matter, tonight was a night to forget and enjoy the moment, as it was probably their last night.
Charlie looked all over their little bar area, enjoying seeing everyone happily mingling. When she didn’t find Niffty or Alastor, she began to look further around the foyer before spotting them on the balcony, looking down at all of them, talking. She was glad that the two didn’t decide to completely not participate. Perhaps she should ask them to come down and join them?
Before Charlie could walk away, her attention was grabbed by Sir Pentious and the two fall into conversation easily, temporarily forgetting about her earlier plans.
Sir Pentious confesses to Charlie about his feelings for a certain Ms Cherri Bomb which has Charlie all giddy and excited, as she encourages him to go confess his feelings.
Taking the Princess’s advice and encouragement, Sir Pentious goes over to Cherri as Charlie watches excitedly from the side lines.
Vaggie, spotting her girlfriend practically floating off the ground in her excitement, goes over to her, amused at her darlings silly antics.
“What’s gotten you so happy?” Vaggie asks, and Charlie proceeds to quickly and excitedly wave at Sir Pentious and Cherri Bomb, as Sir Pentious is struggling to get his words out.
“Ah I see.” Vaggie said with a soft smile, as she looked at the flustered serpent demon for a while longer before looking back at her partner, who still looks happy and excited but the way she is looking at the two, it is clear that her mind is miles away.
Gently, as to not startle the other, Vaggie wraps one of her arms around Charlie and pulls her in closer. They remain standing side by side, now both looking out at all the other sinners at the bar.
“What’s actually on your mind, hon?” Vaggie asks.
“I am scared for what tomorrow is going to bring.” Charlie confesses, before Vaggie could say anything else, Charlie continues.
“If anything goes wrong tomorrow, we are so fucked. Especially, with Heaven now knowing about the exterminations, what if the citizens of Heaven agree with exterminations! What if they want to see their family members punished! What if tomorrow we start a full out war with Heaven, and Heaven decides to recruit winners into their ranks and family would have to fight family! What if-” Charlie was practically hyperventilating at this point.
“Charlie!” Vaggie’s shout snapped Charlie out of it, as Vaggie’s hold tightened around her girlfriend.
“If I know anything about Heaven, is that whatever the higher-ups heard in that courtroom. Didn’t leave the courtroom. The population of Heaven still doesn’t know about the exterminations, and I am convinced Sera wants to keep it that way. Part of the whole paradise thing, where you are not meant to worry about a thing.” Vaggie her best to calm Charlie, and it did work. But only for a moment before she froze up.
The sudden change in demeanor had Vaggie worried.
“What’s wrong?” She asked.
“Uhh. Umm. So-o…kinda with everything happening, I forgot to tell you that, I kind of, may have told the human souls in Heaven about the exterminations and they were not pleased- and-” Charlie rambled.
“What!?!” Vaggie couldn’t believe it, if the human souls knew about what was happening, it could go one of two ways. Good case scenario: they are appalled by the exterminations for many reasons such as be that relatives that ended up in Hell but they love dearly or just morality of the whole genocide, and their protests in large enough numbers will lead to Heaven ceasing fire or worst case scenario: they agree with what Adam is doing because they want know that people that hurt them are truly suffering, they want to assurance that people who hurt them, would never hurt anyone again.
“So! Here’s what happened.” Charlie said nervously, as she explained what happened when her and Vaggie got separated in Heaven. She told her girlfriend about the small restaurant, about Mimi and how she wanted to see her son again, and unfortunately she wasn’t able to get his name but she knows Mimi’s full name and roughly around the time the two of them lived, plus she has photos, surely that would be enough to help her find at least some possible sinners it could be. She then told Vaggie of Molly, with whom she didn’t get to spend as much time with but at least she knew more of Molly’s brother-
“-And in addition to all that! I know that his name was Anthony.” Charlie happily announced, the previous melancholy mood seemed to have vanished as her tale progressed.
“Did someone call me?” Angel piped up from across the bar, slightly tipsy from his drink, as he looked all around him, trying to see who was talking to him. Not realizing that someone called him by the wrong name, well not wrong per say, but a name that not many people know.
Cherri slapped his arm, drawing his attention back to her. “I think you had too much to drink, bitch. Cause ain’t no one call your name, babe.”
At hearing Angel’s voice, Charlie’s eyes were instantly drawn to him and she could feel her mind trying to tell her something. There was something obvious in front of her. Two puzzle pieces that most definitely fit together but someone kept trying to connect the wrong ends.
Charlie looked at their resident spider across the bar, truly looked at him and the image of Molly flashed right before her eyes. Her eyes widened as the pieces finally snapped together. How could she have been so blind! Now that she looks at him, with the image of Molly still floating in her mind, the similarities are hard to ignore. Angel would often reminisce of his twin sister while lounging in the hotel, he never mentioned her by name but the memories her recalled were similar to the brief stories Molly told her of her brother.
“Oh shit!” Charlie exclaimed, drawing everyone’s attention to her. The looks varied from confusion, from sinners like Husk, to concern from beings like Vaggie.
Overwhelmed and unable to explain what she has realised, Charlie turned on her heel and ran from the room.
Up above the concierge, Alastor observed the scene unfold from the balcony. When he saw Charlie depart abruptly after her sudden shout, he decided to investigate, as he blended into the shadows to follow her and her partner, who ran after her mere moments later.
Alastor found the two girls standing outside Angel’s door, as he hid in the shadows, not wanting to be spotted eavesdropping, by either of them.
Charlie had one of her hands propped on the door, leaving light scratch marks on it as she looked at the photos pinned to the door. Her phone was clenched tightly in her other hand. Even though the screen was off, she knew what she would see if she pressed the button.
Vaggie observed Charlie for a moment longer, not understanding what has happened to bring them here. If she was being honest with herself, Vaggie was worried. She knows Charlie could be quite emotional at times, but for the life of her she couldn’t figure out what was causing her love such misery.
“What’s wrong?” She asked, as she dared to take a step closer, not sure what sort of reaction she would be in for.
Alastor watched the two from the shadows, now this is entertainment!
“I have been so stupid for not seeing it, Vaggie.” Charlie says, banging her fist against Angel’s door, her eyes screwed shut, a lone tear running down her cheek.
Vaggie ran a soothing hand up and down her back, giving her time to compose her thoughts.
Finally, Charlie’s eyes snapped open, full of tears, her vision was becoming so blurry, but she didn’t care. Emotions were running very high. She jabbed her finger at the photo of Angel on the door. “Look at him!”
Vaggie did as requested, looking at the photo of Angel’s face before a hellphone was thrusted in her face. “Now look at her!” Charlie demanded.
Curiosity getting the better of him, Alastor decided to get closer to the phone to see the photo, despite his hatred of new technology, his curiosity outweighed his hatred for once as he peers over Vaggie’s shoulder.
Upon the phone, both Vaggie and Alastor saw a smiling Charlie, behind her was a Spider Angel. She had big poofy hair, white fur with pink accents, small fluffy white wings but what was the most noticeable was her wide grin. It was the exact same smile as Angel’s, and once you see that, all the other similarities seem to fall into place.
Once Alastor looks from the phone to the photos and draws the connection. He freezes. Unseen, by both of the other occupants of the hallway.
Vaggie, not far behind, she too comes to the same conclusion.
“Oh shit. Are you sure?” Vaggie asks, even though she feels like her doubt is silly.
“Yes! Now that I look at them side by side, they are practically identical.” Charlie feels like ripping her hair out, how could she be so blind!
“How did I not see this earlier? Oh Molly! Oh Angel. I am so sorry.” Charlie began to cry again, as she clutched the phone to her chest and practically collapsed against the door.
“For everyone’s sake, I hope we all make it through tomorrow and I hope that Angel gets redeemed, so he can finally reunite with his sister. I promised to her that she will see him again.” Charlie confessed to herself as she slid down the wall, her back pressed against Angel’s door.
Joining Charlie on the floor, Vaggie says: “We should tell Angel.”
Charlie thinks for a moment.
“No.”
“No?”
“Now is not the time to dump this all on Angel. The day is already very emotionally charged for all of us and they all have their minds set on tomorrow. I don’t want this knowledge to distract him tomorrow.”
“What if he dies tomorrow? Would you rather he die not knowing about his sister.” Vaggie pressed.
Charlie thought for a moment.
“He won’t die tomorrow.” Charlie declared.
“Hon, you can’t know that for sure. We need to tell him.” Vaggie pleaded.
“No! We are not telling him and none of us are dying tomorrow!” Charlie proclaimed with bravado she didn’t have.
Sighing in defeat, knowing that she couldn’t change Charlie’s mind on this at such a late hour with the battle looming mere hours away from them.
“Fine. But if we all survive this. You are telling him immediately. Okay?” Vaggie conceded.
Charlie nodded her ascent, satisfied, Vaggie pulled her girlfriend in for a hug and a kiss.
Alastor left the two alone instantly, as soon as Vaggie pulled Charlie into a kiss. He didn’t need to see that, it was none of his business.
This changes so much.
After leaving the two in the hallway, Alastor materialized in a random room a floor below them. He had a tight grip on his microphone and his ears were pinned back as he tried to process what he had just learned from the Princess of Hell.
He stood in the middle of the room, frozen like a deer in headlights for five minutes, his eyes completely unfocused. His shadow tried to interact with him, but it was not working. The shadow let out a small concerned chirp, Alastor’s ear twitched at the noise.
Who would've thought that such a little tidbit of information can change so much within the Radio Demon. He knows angels are real. There’s Vaggie, Lucifer and the Exterminators to name a few, even Adam, the first human soul in Heaven. Heaven is real, he can see it from any windows in the hotel, you can see it anywhere in Pride. Hell is most definitely real. Magic is real. Yet, somehow seeing proof of human souls, with the exclusion of Adam, walking, living and thriving in Heaven. That knowledge has broken something with Alastor. It’s one thing to believe and it’s totally another to have absolute proof that what you believe in actually exists. It’s startling.
Alastor’s shadow makes a distressed noise as it watches its creator openly cry in the empty bedroom. Alastor doesn’t even seem to be aware of the fact that he is crying.
His smile wobbles ever so slightly as his vision blurs further, it's as if he wants to frown, he wants to break down, but he physically can’t. He falls to his knees suddenly, it’s too overwhelming. The knowledge that his family, his mother is out there, alive, in a sense.
It has never felt so real before.

Chapter Text
A pale demon, with soft curly brown hair, razor sharp teeth lay on Rosie’s bed with her eyes closed, quietly humming to herself.
She heard some commotion come from the hallway, but she didn’t bother to move. Besides Alastor’s and Princess Morningstar’s arrival a couple of days ago, she knew that no one else would be dumb enough to enter Rosie’s room besides the Overlord herself.
“I see you are enjoying your vacation.” Rosie commented, as she sauntered into her room, carrying a cooler box.
“If you consider being trapped in your Emporium a vacation, I fear for how miserable your life is.” The demon on the bed chuckled.
“Oh shut it, Frankie. It’s our Emporium. Budge over.” Rosie commanded as she plonked herself on her own bed, not giving the other anywhere near enough time to properly scoot out of the way, thus trapping her white dress underneath Rosie. With a grunt of frustration, Franklin tried to free her dress but alas to no avail.
“No, it is your Emporium. I got ‘exterminated’ at the last extermination. Remember?” Franklin said, pretending to be dead as she lay on the bed.
“Technicalities.” Rosie waved her off as she presented her companion with the cooler full of fresh supply.
Technicalities, it is indeed. As for the rest of Hell and in the eyes of Heaven, Franklin has been exterminated. Only three beings knew of Franklin’s continued existence. First of them being Rosie, who was in fact the one to ‘exterminate’ Franklin. Second would have been Lilith, the owner of Franklin’s soul, but just before extermination the deal that was struck between Franklin and Lilith wavered before it snapped mere hours before extermination, forcing Rosie and Frankie to come up with a quick plan. Despite Franklin's relaxed demeanour, she was still really concerned for what this could mean. Her deal with Lilith states: Lilith would own Franklin’s soul and will not strike any deal or bring harm to the Radio Demon in exchange for safe passage and stay in Heaven.
Franklin was really afraid as to what that meant for Alastor but if that bitch Lilith was the one to break the deal and she did something to Alastor. She can kiss her afterlife goodbye!
When the deal broke, Franklin was ready to storm the gates of Heaven, find Lilith and confront her. However, Rosie managed to talk the other Overlord out of it as Alastor seemed to be fine and his usual self. With reluctance, Franklin conceded but that didn’t stop her thoughts from spiralling from what could have happened and thus their insane scheme was formed. If Lilith wasn’t the one to break the deal, then one of the conditions of the deal has been breached or compromised or one of the two people in the deal died by an angelic weapon.
Therefore, if Lilith wasn’t the one to break it and it is highly unlikely that she is dead. Then she would have felt the chains of the deal snap, and knowing that Franklin is alive would mean that her safety in Heaven is compromised, meaning that she could harm Alastor, or anyone else that Franklin cared for. Thus the two cannibal Overlords decided to fake Franklin’s death, knowing that all deaths during the exterminations are recorded and the files could be accessed within Heaven as well.
With a harsh yank, Franklin managed to dislodge her dress from beneath Rosie, who giggled at partners struggles and moved just slightly.
“Bitch.” Franklin muttered as she summoned a couple of plates, placing them on the bed.
“That is not a very polite thing for a lady to say.” Rosie said, as she pulled out some fresh limbs from the cooler, serving them on a large and delicate plate before getting up to retrieve a couple of glasses from a cupboard.
“What would you like to drink, my dear? Absinthe perhaps?” Rosie offered, as she reached for the dark green bottle.
“Ha! No. That’s what got us into this whole mess in the first place.” Franklin tried to sound annoyed, but she couldn’t hide how truly fond her tone was. Last time either of them partook in absinthe was decades ago when Alastor barged through the doors of their Emporium, bruised and bleeding from a fight with Vox, Rosie patched him up over a bottle of absinthe and that is when he finally told her of his past.
After he left, Rosie decided to finish the bottle with Franklin, with her tongue loosened from the alcohol, Rosie re-told Franklin Alastor’s tale and changed all their afterlives in a mere moment. Franklin froze, as her slightly sluggish mind connected the dots. New Orleans. Restaurant. Louisiana. Younger sister.
Louise.
Louise.
Louise.
Her name was Louise. Franklin hasn’t thought of her life in a long long time, hasn’t thought of her sister in years but in a sudden moment of clarity the last several years of her life flashed before her eyes. They had a massive argument with their family and sneaked off on a boat headed for Great Britain, they were young and stupid. They wanted to start a new life for themselves. It didn’t work out. They were homeless. They were starving . They wanted to go home. Her sister would fantasise about going home, back to New Orleans, opening a restaurant or a cafe that would serve anyone despite of who they were, where they came from. She fantasised about settling down with a loving husband and having two kids. One girl and one boy, she wanted to name her daughter Florence and her son Alastor. Alastor. Her sister. Miriam … Mimi?
But…
She died.
Louise died in England. Never knowing what became of her sister's dream.
And a new demon spawned in Hell. Innocent, loving and carefree Louise was gone. Franklin took her place. Perhaps Louise was long gone before that fateful night in Soho, London.
Thirdly-!
A portal from Hell opened up. Connecting the Living World to the Hellish afterlife.
“Hurry the fuck up Mox!” Blitz yelled as he jumped through the portal with Mils hot on his heels.
“Are you sure about this, sir?” Moxxie asked, as he looked over their client's target and murder request.
“Of fucking course I am sure Mox! The job is simple enough. We just need to off some rich fucker and burn down his manor- Oh-oof! Loonie, did you pack my arson kit?” Blitz spoke a mile a minute, before being distracted by the backpack being essentially launched at his head. Rifling through it, seeing what his darling daughter packed for them.
“Duh. Who do you take me for?” She muttered angrily before literally kicking Moxxie’s arse to get him through the portal, and shutting it behind the Imps.
While Blitz was distracted, Millie walked over to her husband who was sprawled on the ground from the harsh kick, the case with the angelic rifle lay next to the smaller imp.
“Moxxie.” Millie spoke to get his attention, as she helped him to get up.
“Mmpf” Moxxie mumbled.
“What’s wrong, Mox?” Millie asked, genuinely concerned. After a moment, Moxxie managed to stand properly without assistance but Millie refused to let him go.
“I don’t know. Something just doesn’t feel right. The client refused an in person meeting, or even a phone call. The request does seem simple enough but- ugh…I don’t know. Something feels really wrong about this. They want the target to essentially be exterminated as they stated specifically that they need to be killed by an angelic weapon and burned with Hellfire. I-I just have this really bad feeling that we shouldn’t do this. That we shouldn’t even be here! What if it’s an angel!!” As Moxxie continued to speak, his anxiety continued to rise and he began to hyperventilate.
“What did I just fucking say! Shut the fuck up you tiny dick piss baby. No one wants to hear your whining, we have a client that needs satisfying, if you know what I mean.” Blitz teased the smaller imp, making the blonde imp uncomfortable.
“Besides, the money we get for this job is insane. Who cares if the target gets completely erased. We can live like Kings after this! Can buy so many horses!” Blitz gushed as his thoughts were now occupied by horses.
“I think you are onto something, hun.” Millie said to her husband, who finally perked up, glad to have someone on his side.
The IMP crew arrived at the address provided by the client. The manor was not as impressive or as grand as they expected, it looked quite old and was nestled on the edge of Abhainn Inbhir Ghuiserein, a remote winding river in Scotland. Nevertheless it was unique and from their vantage point, they could see some of the lights were on inside. Perfect.
“Okay, M&M. Here’s the plan. Moxxie, you stay here and take aim. I am going to try to lure the fucker in this direction. Mils, here’s the arson kit. I want you to go to the other side of the house and set it on fire once I lure the target in this direction. Everyone got the plan?” Blitz demanded, looking between the two colleagues.
“Yea, Boss.” Millie said joyfully as she grabbed her tools and sprinting off.
“Yes, sir.” Moxxie said much more reluctantly but agreed to the plan nevertheless. He set up the rifle, and began to take aim, observing the house through the scope.
“Perfect!” Blitz cheered as he slinked off in the direction of the manor.
It took Blitz several minutes to scope out the area and locate their target. Despite the manor looking like it was thousands of years old, the outside of the manor looked to be well looked after. Using one of the unused flower pots Blitz, used it to help him reach the windows and see inside. At first he couldn’t see much of anything, just what appeared to be a quite a cozy living room full of weird knickknacks from all sorts of time periods, the walls were also adorned with what seemed to be thousands of portraits and pictures, some of them looked familiar to the imp but he couldn't quite place where he has seen them from. Suddenly movement from the doorway on the other side of the room caught Blitz's attention, it was brief but he managed catch a glimpse of, was a pair of long legs and slim hips. This fucker was really tall. Kinda like Stolas.
Scurrying down from the pot and rolling it a couple windows over swiftly, Blitz once more peered through the window of now a different room, it looked more like a hallway but who needs that much shit in a hallway? There were arm chairs pushed against the walls, plants growing everywhere, even more painting on the walls. The fuck is up with this guy?
Whilst trying to get a better look at what they were working with, Blitz managed to spot the back of their target through the window. And damn! For a human, he wasn’t too bad looking. The guy was tall. Really tall, actually freakishly tall for a human. He wore white slacks with golden embellishments that ran along the bottom of each trouser leg, on his upper body he wore a dark green cardigan which really accentuated his wide shoulders and with the rolled up sleeves it emphasised his pale arms, too pale to be human… that also if you looked closer faded to black and were not in fact gloves... His head and face were unfortunately hidden from view by a wide brim top hat. Who wears a hat indoors?
Foolishly, as Blitz tried to get a better look at their target but kept being distracted by those wide shoulders and slim hips, he didn’t realise that his claws were actually crushing the window hinges below his claws. Within seconds of the old window giving an ominous single creak and Blitz snapping out of his daze a moment too late, the window gave out and caved in below the imps weight, sending Blitz crashing into the manor.
A rifle shot rang out two seconds after the window caved in. But it never hit its target, as a wards around the manor disintegrated the bullet once it got near enough.
Hearing the commotions, the target jumped a bit in startlement before spinning around on the spot to face the unexpected intruder.
“Well, well, well. Who do we have here?” The target spoke, as his heels clicked on the marble flooring.
Blitz grunted, as he managed to gather himself, that fucking hurt! At the sound of a melodic voice, Blitz looked up from the floor and froze. His eyes went impossibly wide.
As four floating eyes stared down at him, accompanied by a sinister razor sharp grin.
“Fuck!” Blitz exclaimed as he stared up at none other than God himself.
Notes:
I know this is definitely not what you all wanted to see but I feel like this is some necessary info for the next chapter. Because, God is going to make an appearance and I wanted to explain his absence. I don't know if this really explains it. But the gist is that after his failed Eden project, he exiled himself to Earth, leaving it up to the angels to run Heaven. He doesn't know what they have been up to for thousands of years. (Including Lucifer's fall) 😬
As for Franklin, I originally was not going to include this because it was a very half-arsed idea, but then everything kinda fell into place because for the longest time, for the last chapter I was confused as to what I wanted to do with Alastor's deal (I did think about not including it) and I think having Franklin be his Aunt and essentially take his place works out quite nicely, because I already established that Mimi has a younger sister who died before Alastor was born (therefore explaining why he doesn't have a bond with her in Hell, he probably thinks she is also in Heaven) and that she is not in Heaven (from Mimi). Plus some other more subtle things were established which will make sense at the end.
The final and long awaited last chapter will be out on 30th March :)
Chapter 5: Heaven to Pay
Summary:
Part 1 of the Final Battle!
Notes:
I really hate myself right now because I set myself the deadline of today! To finish this story but I could not ;-; But I promised a chapter today so here's the first half of what is meant to be the final chapter. I would like to have the second half done by next Saturday, but don't hold me to that!
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
Today is the day that shall decide everyone’s fate as the portal from Heaven opens above the Hazbin Hotel and Adam leads his attack. Bigger than ever before, an army of approximately ten thousand exterminator angels. They are going to annihilate Hell once and for all! Starting at that stupid Hazbin Hotel.
Down below, Charlie and the hotel residence watch hundreds of angels fly through the portal, growing more and more concerned about their chances.
Instantly as soon as Adam, Lute and several hundred exterminator angels get within the range of the Hazbin Hotel, Alastor swiftly puts up his shield, trapping a portion of the army as well as Adam and Lute.
“What the fuck?!” Adam yells, looking up at the shield above his head.
“It appears to be some kind of shield, sir!” Lute replied.
“Oh fucking really?! I didn’t see this giant fucking shield above me, you dumb bitch! No shit!” Adam yelled. He really wanted this done and over with, so channelling his power into his fist, he swung at the shield. The shield wavered and cracked before the cracks sealed themselves and the shield held strong, separating the army in two.
“Fucking what?! That shouldn’t be possible!” Adam yelled in frustration, ready to throw a tantrum.
Yet, in the corner of his eye, he spotted what he believed to be the source of his latest annoyance.
“Adam! First man. Next to die.” Alastor said, as Adam landed on the roof of the Hazbin Hotel, not far from the Radio Demon.
“Who the fuck are you.” Adam asked, gesturing at Alastor as if he was some sort of vermin that he wanted out of his sight as soon as possible.
“Alastor! Pleasure to be meeting you! Quite quite a pleasure.” Alastor introduced himself, extending his hand to the angel in mock politeness before withdrawing it smoothly.
“I am about to end. Your. Fucking. Life.” Alastor announced with his signature sinister smile, slamming his staff on the roof and releasing more of the same energy that is keeping the shield intact.
Bingo! Destroy the staff. Destroy the shield. And nasty vermin along the way.
“This is going to be easy.” Adam said his own smile was just as sinister as the Radio Demon’s, which Alastor would never admit to, but it scared him.
Summoning his own harp guitar, the two fought ruthlessly. Both managed to harm each other, unfortunately Alastor not as much as Adam, nevertheless, Adam was not expecting this pathetic sinner to put up as much of a fight as he did.
In a moment of pure wrath, Adam yelled: “RADIO IS FUCKING DEAD!” Sending a massive beam of angelic energy at Alastor who just barely managed to stop it with his staff.
“What just happened?” Alastor muttered in disbelief as he felt the waver in power.
Unfortunately, as soon as the staff absorbed and cut the beam it shattered in two, thus releasing its power.
“Ffff-uck!” Alastor gripped the two pieces of the staff, it was essentially useless now.
“Fucking finally!” Adam announced as the shield began to deteriorate and fizzle out of existence and more angels began to advance towards the hotel.
“This was fun and all but I think the next bitch to die is you!” Adam swiftly advanced towards Alastor, guitar raised and charged up once more. He is going to kill this red ass bitch!
Alastor doesn’t know what overcame him, but he froze. His instincts were yelling at him to run but a set of other instincts kept him frozen in place.
If he doesn’t move. He is certain he will die.
Just as Adam was about to land the finishing blow, the deer got forcefully pushed out of his trajectory by a blue drone. That collided with the deer demon, topling him over.
“What the-?” Adam sputtered, not having enough time to slow down his momentum and slamming into a wall.
The shock of the fall finally made Alastor come to his senses. Looking up he was met by a soulless stare of the drone camera. The two stared at each other, seemingly locked in a battle of wills until Alastor gave a minuet nod. That seemed to be all the permission Vox needed, as the drone whirled louder and spun around so that it was looking at the Angel, its back towards Alastor.
“Ow! That fucking hurt.” Adam quickly tried to gather himself, however, as soon as he started to get up a rain of bullets from a machine gun assaulted him.
Alastor watched transfixed from the ground, as Vox’s Voxtech drone was not only a flying camera but it also had a weapons hidden within it as when it turned around, a compartment opened up on the drone’s belly, from which a machine gun dropped down from. Granted, they weren’t tipped with angelic steel, so they wouldn’t bring true harm to Adam, but they will slow him down.
“This sucks!” Adam getting sick and tired of the bullets, which weren’t doing much damage but were still annoying as fuck! He spun his guitar to deflect as many as he could before his attention was taken over with a large blimp heading right for his army.
“Oh no you fucking don’t!” Abandoning the deer and the drone, Adam flew off to deal with another issue. Those two sucked anyway!
The drone turned back to face the Radio Demon, still sprawled on the ground. It withdrew its weapon and instead extended a robotic claw like hand towards the deer demon. Alastor looked at it for a moment, hesitantly he placed his hand in the metallic grasp.
“Vox! What the fuck are you doing?!” Valentino yelled at Vox.
Vox ignored him, just like Velvette was ignoring both of them.
Before getting exterminated by Adam, Sir Pentious managed to launch his weapon at the large gathering of angels, exterminating about a thousand of them in one swift blow. Sadly, his victory didn’t last long. As Adam in his anger, completely whipping Sir Pentious and his blimp out of existence. Or so he thought.
“I can’t believe God would sanction something like this!” Emily has had enough of this back and forth with Sera. Sera and the other angels tried to keep the exterminations hush and secret, however, that didn’t last long as rumours spread across Heaven faster than ever, resulting in riots and protests from Heaven’s residents. Yet, Sera nor any of the other high ranking angels have yet to stop the extermination.
Sera was quiet for a moment. Guilt festering.
“The exterminations were not sanctioned by God. I don’t think He even knows of their existence.” Sera quietly confessed, looking down at her clasped hands in guilt and indecision. This was getting way out of hand, she needed to protect Heaven.
“WHAT?!” Emily exclaimed, rising from her seat.
“God has not been in Heaven for thousands of years-” Sera tried to explain her decision and point of view. After making Eve and placing her in the Garden of Eden, God all but vanished from Heaven, leaving the fate of the Universe in the hands of the Angels. No one knows where God has disappeared to. Unfortunately, his absence was also not instantly discovered. It took an embarrassing hundred years to realise that God was in fact, not in Heaven.
“How long!” Emily demanded, leaning over the table.
“We are not sure but we believe it was just before Lucifer fell-. He left the Seraphims in charge of running Heaven in his stead and I took on the full responsibility-” Sera spoke, finally looking up from her hands and at Emily. Em was absolutely furious, and if Sera was honest with herself, it scared her. Not that Emily would do anything to her personally, but that she will make some rash and foolish decisions that will exile her from Heaven.
“Seraphims! Plural! I have as much right to make decisions as you do!” Emily argued back. She couldn’t believe that Sera, the high seraphim that she looked up to all her life, would hide something like this and when confronted would insist that such means are necessary.
“Emily, stop this at once! Such blatant emotions are what made Camilla fall.” Now Sera’s anger and annoyance began to rise, at the lack of progress in their stupid argument.
“That’s not why she fell. She fell for love, of her own volition!” Emily practically yells. Emily, unfortunately didn’t get to know Camilla for long before the Seraphim fell alongside her daughters but what she knew of the other angel is that she stuck to her beliefs and loved ones. It’s a great shame that Heaven lost her, as she was the only one who could sway Sera’s mind. Unlike Emily who Sera saw more as a child rather than an equal. Which would make sense, as Emily hasn’t been around as long as Sera or any of the other high ranking Angels.
“Emily. This is pointless. Sinners cannot be redeemed. You are too young to understand but Hell is the final destination for them. Eternal damnation. Surely if redemption was possible at least one of them would have made it up here by now!” Sera tried to reason, losing more of her patience.
“Even if it is the final destination for some of them because I do not believe that Hell is forever as you say. I believe in Charlie! But we cannot just go down there and exterminate them! Year after year! That’s unbelievably cruel! Why can’t you just leave them alone!” Em yelled, gripping the table between them so hard that she could swear she heard the metal below her hands bend to her will.
“They tried to uprise Emily! You don’t underst-” Sera exclaimed, trying to make her fears and concerns heard before being bluntly interrupted by Em.
“What don’t I understand! You keep telling me that I don’t understand! That I am too young! What other secrets are you hiding!” Emily was at her wits end! Have they always been like this?!
“Emily.” Sera said sternly with quiet rage as she grabbed the other's wrist in a crushing grip.
“If you do not stop your questioning and probing at my authority. I will have to take measures that I do not wish to do.” Sera threatened as she pulled Emily towards herself, forcefully dragging the other angel out of her seat.
“I don’t believe you.” Emily whispered angrily, trying not to let her emotions take over once more.
“You will fall for your actions and words if you continue on this path-” Sera was once more interrupted.
“That’s not how that works.” A melodic voice with a hint of a Scottish accent, interrupted the heated argument between the two.
Both turned to face the direction of where the voice came from. Emily was quite confused as to who she was looking at, as the being before her was dressed in a white suit with golden embellishments, a large white top hat with a cross adorned their head and four floating eyes staring at the pair. There was some movement behind the being but neither of the two Seraphim paid that any mind.
Unlike Emily, Sera knew exactly who was standing before them and Sera completely froze in horror. Of all times for him to return, this has got to be the worst one.
Unphased by the two Seraphs, God ploughed straight on.
“Angels and other heavenly beings do not fall for such things. Asking questions and questioning authority are very good qualities to have, as we are all naturally flawed and power often gets quite far into the beings heads, so we always need those that question and rebel our methods in order for us to see the flaws that we ourselves have created. Take humanity for example, I foolishly created them without free will or the ability to procreate, which is what I gave you lot. I tried to make them different and clearly I removed the wrong ingredient, luckily Lucifer fixed the free will aspect and Michael helped me with the self-population aspects.” God rambled, getting sidetracked, it’s been a while since he participated in regular conversations. Huh. It seems that it runs in the family.
As God rambled on, it finally clicked in Emily’s mind who was standing before them.
“Oh my goodness..” Emily muttered to herself in disbelief.
“Anyway! That’s besides the point. I would really love to know what those riots out there are about and why this lovely gentleman-” God side-stepped to the side, revealing Sir Pentious nervously fiddling with his hands, that once revealed, he timidly waved at the other two angels in the room “-just informed me that he just materialised here. After dying in battle in Hell while trying to protect his friends AGAINST HEAVENLY EXTERMINATOR ANGELS!” God really tried to keep his cool. What was this unholy mess?! Where were Michael and Lucifer?!
As soon as God’s words registered, Emily all but ripped her hand out of Sera’s grip, who hasn’t realised she has still been holding onto the smaller angel, and rushed over to God and the brand new angel.
“Oh my! Oh my goodness!” Emily was vibrating on the spot from pure happiness.
“Charlie was right! It is possible!” Emily exclaimed as she hugged Sir Pentious, who was really not expecting such a turn of events but returned the hug carefully.
“Of course it’s possible. Always has been.” God commented confused. Who’s Charlie?
“Always?” Sera finally spoke up, her voice unbelievably shaky and quiet, looking at God as if she had seen a ghost.
God in response, looked up from the small seraph and the new angel, and instead looked at Sera, narrowing his eyes at her. Something wasn’t right.
Turning his attention back to the other two, God placed a hand on Emily’s shoulder, successfully gathering her attention. “What’s your name, young one?” God asked.
“Emily, Sir.” Emily replied nervously. “Or Em, E, Emmy. I really don’t mind.” She replied, feeling her earlier bravado flee in a mere moment.
“Emily, could you please be a dear and take Sir Pentious as well as any other willing angels down to Hell to bring back our wayward Angels who believe they have the right to tamper with mortal souls.” God requested calmly, despite feeling anything but calm.
“Yes sir. But- but what if they don’t listen to me. I can’t gather enough Angels to successfully fight ten thousand exterminator angels. What if they attack us too?” Emily said, fidgeting nervously with her hands.
“Ten-!” God took a moment to process.
“I was not expecting there to be that many. Very well. In that case, I would like for you to still gather as many willing angels as you can to go down to Hell and if they do not listen and head back to Heaven, I would like you to protect the sinners and hellborn. I do not want any more casualties from their side. I shall join you with back-up soon enough. You and any Angels that are willing to take your side have my blessing of protection. No angels will be able to harm other angels. Got it.” God explained.
“Yes sir!”
“Splendid!”
Emily and Sir Pentious left the room, to quickly fulfil the request and prevent more souls from dying, leaving God alone in the room with Sera. Sharply turning towards her, he commanded: “Take me to Michael.”
Notes:
What do we think of the first half? Do we love it do we hate it? What would you like to see in the second half?
Happy Easter weekend everyone!
Happy Birthday to Hunter c:
