Work Text:
I remember a lot about you.
Matter of fact I don’t think I go a day without thinking of you.
I could sit here and write about how I thought you were pretty and smart, but there’s so much more than just that.
I can remember the way you smelled in the mornings:
You smelled of coconut; you showered using only coconut scented products which I thought was strange at first, but I enjoyed the way you smelled.
You smelled of coffee, because you drank your “Special Brew” your parents made for you every day. I wish we learned sooner what it contained.
The small things that would make you smile:
Seeing the first snow of the year despite the fact we knew it was only January and the snow wouldn’t ever go away.
Running around in the rain when you weren’t afraid of the thunder and lightning or slipping.
When I got to know you more you made my life so much better in ways I can’t fathom:
You were able to make me feel like I wasn’t so alone, because I wasn’t the only kid who was gay in town.
Despite me being an asshole, when we hung out at a little clearing out in the forest, you’d make me flower crowns and show me drawings of things you made for me.
I don’t know if you know this but I always called that place “our spot,” because I can’t go there without thinking of you.
You were always so talented too.
I couldn’t even think of a kid I knew who could draw, work, sing, play multiple instruments, and still pass classes all in elementary school.
I know you were overworked, but I always admired all the skills you had.
When you had showed me, you had learned to play my favorite song on the piano, that’s when I knew I wanted to be with you forever.
I had always known I liked you:
When we fought as kids, I always thought you being feisty was cute and being able to kick my ass was hot.
When we became friends and dressed up and went to school. I had pretended it was just to fit in…it was so much more than that.
You were the person who made my life better,
You gave me a reason to smile,
To believe that maybe, just maybe,
I might not be so alone after all.
You were there for me through it all,
The ups and the downs,
You always knew just what to do or say
To make me feel like I was worth it all.
You were talented,
You were strong,
You were my everything
And I would do anything for you.
You were my first love,
My first kiss,
You were the one who showed me what true love felt like
And I will never forget you.
I miss you every day,
And I wish things could've been different,
But even with all the tears I've cried
I hope one day we can meet again.
