Work Text:
Nooshy relaxed beside her best friend Johnny, watching the rest of the theater family flood into the building they had rented to practice their space-themed show. She had gotten to know most of them relatively well.
Of course, she knew Johnny well. They teased each other like siblings and she appreciated having someone around who could understand her love for dance and he always had her back.
She had also gotten close to Ash, who she found incredibly relatable with her stick-it-to-the-man personality and loud, ambitious nature. She was incredibly funny and Nooshy always found herself laughing around her.
Meena wasn't someone she was particularly close with yet, but she enjoyed listening to the other's singing and watching her blooming relationship with Alfonso. Rosita and Gunter were both caring, sometimes over-bearing adults who she considered great role-models, even though she wouldn't tell them that anytime soon.
Miss Crawley was a sweet old woman, who told her stories about her past and also about the theater leader, Buster's, past. Buster himself was an interesting fellow, and a bundle full of energy, often too much for Nooshy to handle. There was a sheep man that had joined them on their tour after the first few shows that seemed to follow Buster around as if he were a lost puppy-dog and not an entire bovine. It was sweet occasionally, and amusing the rest of the time. Calloway was also a cool guy once you got to know him, but he was quiet compared to everyone else in the theater family, so Nooshy usually avoided him.
And then there was Porsha.
From the moment Nooshy had first spotted the tall wolf girl, she was both infuriated and infatuated with her. She was born in the lap of luxury, having everything she ever needed and more spoon fed to her. She constantly had a StarBucks cup in her hand and wore clothes that looked as if they jumped straight out of the magazine and onto her body. It was both charming and frustrating, and it mesmerized her.
She watched as the canine trotted into the building, late yet again, spotting Johnny and Nooshy sitting at a nearby table. She made her way over to them, sipping at her frozen latte. "Do you guys know where Mr. Sun is?"
Johnny snorted. "You mean Mister Moon?"
"Oh, yeah, him. Do you know where he is? He said I need to practice my song again today, even though I practiced yesterday." She pouted at that, and Nooshy rolled her eyes.
"Well, yeah, Porsha, he wants you to practice everyday." She stated simply, her arms crossed over her chest.
"I know, but I told him today was my fur appointment.. I don't wanna get it all messy when I just got it trimmed." She fluffed her fuzzy cheeks to show them off. "So, do ya know where he is?"
Shaking his head, Johnny stood up. "No, I don't, but I need to find him, too. I'll look for him with you."
Sighing, Nooshy leaned forward in her seat. "I know where he's at. Follow me." She stated, hopping out of her chair. She led the two to where she had last seen the koala, which happened to be near the inflatable stage that Porsha would be practicing on later. Groaning, Nooshy put her hands comfortably on her hips. "Well, he was here fifteen minutes ago."
Laughing, Johnny stared down at his friend. "Knowing Mister Moon he's halfway across the country right now."
"What?" Porsha exclaimed, stomping her foot. "He didn't tell me he had a private jet! He must have used it if he's halfway across the country..."
Shaking her head, Nooshy snorted. "It's a joke, wolfie."
Porsha put her ears back and sipped at her drink. "Well, jokes are supposed to be funny. Anyways," she sighed, glancing over to where Rosita was psyching herself up to jump off her platform, her body tightly held by the hook and line from the ceiling. "Oooh, have you ever used one of those? They are soooo fun!"
Nooshy glanced to the high-up attraction, rolling her eyes. "There is no way that you can use that thing. Leave that to the professionals."
Grimacing, Porsha sighed inwardly. "I am a professional! I am super good at it!"
"Prove it, then." Nooshy said calmly, shrugging. The canine raced to the platform, rushing up the ladder and grabbing Rosita's straps, yanking them off and tying them to herself. Before anyone could check if she was safely fastened, she dived off the platform.
She flew around the room with a graceful air that once again mesmerized Nooshy. She hated how affected she was, but she couldn't deny it either. Johnny waved his hand in front of her face, laughing.
"You're totally crushin' on her!"
"What?" Nooshy exclaimed, crossing her arms and regaining her composure. "No I'm not, I'm definitely not." Just as she said those words, Porsha swung right down beside her, picking the lynx up swiftly and carrying her bridal style through the air. "What's wrong with you?"
"I'm proving you wrong! And I wanted to see if I could do what Miss Rosita did on the first night of the show, when she caught Mr. Mood."
"It's Mister Mooooooooooooon!" Nooshy yelled out in fear, clinging tightly to the wolf. She didn't know she was afraid of heights, and most of the time she probably wouldn't be, but this time was different. It wasn't every day that she was forced to fly through the air with her only form of safety being the wolf that tightly held onto her.
Finally, Porsha neared the ground again, carefully landing on her feet. Swiftly, Nooshy sprang off of the other girl like a slinky, falling to the floor and panting. "Fine, fine you proved me wrong."
"Mhm!" Porsha said proudly, a genuine smile on her face. "now, you owe me a new StarBucks latte tomorrow." She announced, unfastening herself. "'Kay?"
"Sure, whatever." Nooshy mumbled from the ground, pulling herself to her feet and stumbling over to Johnny, who had an amused expression on his face. "What are you looking like me at that for?"
"Well, I think you just proved me right, too. You totally like her."
Rolling her eyes, she shoved his arm. "Shut up. Now, let's get you to your set with Ryan, huh, Johnny?"
The gorilla laughed awkwardly as his best friend guided him to his practice area, where his tiger crush waited. Secretly, Nooshy was thankful that she had her friend to cheer her on from the side as she explored her new found feelings.
It wasn't everyday that you were swept off your feet by someone you find annoying, after all.
