Piece is done in applique, embroidery, and uh. IDK, I hot glued some faux flowers on there too.
Pose taken from one of the figures in the painted handscroll "Court Ladies Wearing Flowered Headdresses" (簪花仕女圖) by Zhou Fang (周昉). View it here. I was looking for some style references of fancy ladies and I saw the one with the little dog and went "JIN LING" and decided to make her Jin Ling.
For funsies here's the initial digital mock up for the final piece. You can see it mostly stayed the same with a few minor changes.
