Work Text:
Lydia Martin asked him out, she asked him, Jordan Parrish, out. They got together because she got tired of waiting. They’d been out shopping for the pack Christmas party when it happened, he was going and she decided randomly that she wanted to go with him. So, they were walking through the grocery store, grabbing the last few items they needed, and she’d said it plain as day while handing him two cartons of a dozen eggs.

“Will you please go out with me?” Her voice was soft, despite being loud enough that anyone could hear, but her eyes were focused on the fridge she’d gotten the eggs from.
“Is there a reason you’re thinking I would say no?” asked Jordan softly as he took the eggs and laid them carefully in the cart before re-focusing on her.
“Well, I’ve been waiting two months for you to ask, but you haven’t. I thought maybe I was reading things wrong.” said Lydia as she met his gaze though she still seemed a bit off.
“You haven’t been reading things wrong. But I was trying to be patient because you and Stiles ended only three months ago, and it took a long time before you even wanted to be around me. I didn’t want to push or rush you, but I can see how that may have caused more harm than good.” explained Jordan evenly as his heart threatened to beat out of his chest at what she’s saying and showing through her chemosignals.
“Jordan, Stiles and I ended because we had feelings for other people and those feelings were more than what we felt for each other. I have feelings for you, Stiles has been trying to figure out how you haven’t noticed yet. Though, I’m feeling about the same when it comes to Stiles and his, so I guess it makes sense.” explained Lydia as she put her hands on her hips and livened up into the Lydia he knew and loved.
“If you’re talking about Derek, Stiles screwed that one up himself. Also, I have feelings for you too, and I should’ve been forward about it instead of hesitating.” replied Jordan as he shot her a soft smile before reaching in to grab two gallons of milk from the fridge on his side of the cart.
“Wait, what do you know that I don’t?” asked Lydia as she completely overlooked what he said for a minute.
“Well, Derek asked Stiles out. Stiles turned him down. Derek said he wasn’t going to ask again.” replied Jordan as he turned the cart around and stopped next to her.
“Wait, really?! Stiles didn’t tell me that! I’m going to smack him in the head. He’s been whining about Derek not getting the hints, but he didn’t realize he’d been asked out!” grumbled Lydia softly as she wrapped a hand around his arm and shook her head, strands of beautiful strawberry blonde hair falling from the scrunchie wrapped bun she’d put it up in earlier in the day.
“Yep, we’ll have to figure out how to get those two together, but Stiles is going to have to make the move this time.” said Jordan softly as he pressed a kiss to her hair before they began moving again.

Today is their four-year anniversary, and Lydia’s graduation party ended an hour ago. He knows that he’s going to ask her to marry him. He’d gone ring shopping three months ago with Chris and Melissa’s help. It was small for now, but he knows she’ll love it because it has the color of her grandma’s birthstone, and the diamond is shaped into her birthstone. He just has to find the right time, or at least bring it up. She’s been so busy with college, with the courses, that they haven’t even had time to talk about what would happen when she came home, and where their relationship would go when she was back in Beacon Hills. She’s working at Beacon Hills High, but she’s also helping Theo to design cures for any wolf/coyote/chimera poison attacks.
They’ve been so busy that they hadn’t spoken about anything concerning their relationship, which is nothing like them because they talk about everything, they communicate the most out of all of the couples in the pack. He’s lost in his head while cleaning up after their pack get together while Lydia went to get her things from her mother’s home since she wanted to stay with Jordan in his apartment for the few days that she won’t be busy.
“Jordan, are you okay?” asks Lydia softly, startling him out of his head in surprise at her return.
“Huh? Yeah, sorry, I was just thinking. I’m just really proud of you.” replies Jordan softly, smiling at her before continuing to finish the last bit of clean-up left, the dishes.
“You didn’t even notice I came in, you’re a cop and supernatural, but you missed my car coming down the street, my “I’m back.” when I parked, and my entire hum the way up the stairs, and me taking my bags into our room. What were you thinking about that made you miss me?” asks Lydia softly as she comes up to lean against the counter next to him.
“Our room?” asks Jordan a little bit in awe as he watches her jump onto the counter and then jerk as it hits her. “Glad to know we are at least slightly on the same page there, love.”
“I didn’t even realize I’d said it… But, yeah, I thought… Well, we should talk about it, right? I mean, where we see our relationship going now that I’m back home for good this time.” replies Lydia a bit shyly as she tucks her hair behind her ear as she looks down at her knees.
“Well, why don’t you go first? I know I can be a rambler sometimes.” whispers Jordan as he looks over at her with his own shy smile.
“Well, I want to, eventually since I just got back, move in with you, whether that’s here or into a home we pick out together. I mean, you’re my… You’re my forever Jordan, so I want forever with you, come what may.” explains Lydia as she meets his eyes, shyness still there in the way she ducks her head before forcing it back up again.
“Eventually, I will get down on one knee, in hopes that you’ll say yes, but for now, as you tell me exactly what I’m hoping for, I’d like to do the same. I want you to marry me, one day.” says Jordan softly, drying his hands before focusing on her as he finally lets it out.
“I want to marry you one day.” whispers Lydia with wide eyes, a blush, and the lavender smell of pure happiness.
He leans in, his hands resting on the counter respectively, and presses a kiss to her forehead before pressing a soft, slow kiss to her lips. She wraps her legs around him, pulling from a soft kiss with a soft smile.
“Let’s go watch The Notebook.” says Jordan softly, knowing that she hasn’t seen it all year, and he can’t help but to chuckle at the excitement that lights up her face.
“Carry me?” asks Lydia with a soft smile as she hugs him close, and she squeals when he does as asked.
Carrying her easily into the small living room of the apartment, he can’t help but imagine what it would be like to do this in a home of their own, how nicely decorated it would be thanks to Lydia’s expertise in fashion, how much more comfortable she’d be because it’d be her home too. She snuggles closer to him as they sit, her sitting on the same cushion, legs over his, head leaning against his shoulder as he turns the tv on and goes about getting the movie playing. He’d already had it set up, getting it set a week prior because he went to help her move her things back to town from MIT.
