Chapter Text

________________________________________
Hitoshi found himself in a library, on a cold autumn night, the sky a dusty gray, the stars littering the horizon. He’d never been one to read much, but he had been mindlessly walking, finding himself in a dusty old library, which had been nearly forgotten in the shadow of a newer one.

He wiped the dust off of a jade green book, a gold lettering of “The Emerald Atlas” in the middle. (The cover doesn’t actually look like this. But convenience.) He opened the first page, to the sleeve, reading it and eventually deciding it’d be a nice read. His amethyst eyes would scan the print words, as his calloused hands flipped pages.

The faint chime of the door could be heard, as a boy with sage-colored eyes and matching untamed hair walked in, placing a book he couldn’t see the name of on the counter, a soft smile on his freckled face. “Just here— just here to return this, sorry it’s— sorry it’s overdue. Some issues came up.” He muttered to the all-too-tired librarian, who gave him a soft nod, a sparkle of familiarity in their eyes at the boy.

Lavender eyes met emerald ones, though the greenette was quick to look away, instead giving the librarian his library card and striding nervously to the fantasy section, as Hitoshi watched, intrigued by the boy. Hm.

The boys soft though scarred hands fidgeted as he found The Fire Chronicle, before pulling it out the shelf.
