It was hard raising a three-year-old boy on her own. She never thought James would die a few months after giving birth to their son. Sirius still came around to spend time with Harry, but it wasn’t enough. Sirius was James’ friend, not hers. Now that James was gone, it was blatantly obvious that Lily couldn’t get along with the man her husband loved more than her.
Living in a big, empty house filled with memories of James was agony. She told Alice this, and she suggested moving in with her and her husband. Alice and Frank helped her move her stuff into their home. Harry seemed happier, having Neville as a permanent companion to play with.
Life became simpler with the help of two other parents. Lily gained another son and basically became part of Alice’s and Frank’s marriage. She could hear everything that happened in their bedroom during the night since she slept in the guest room, which was adjacent to it.
