Chapter Text
A crisp and perfect island town. Almost too neat to be real. There are no visible townspeople. Over a rickety bridge past the CCRP building and coffee shop, past an old creepy house, over the graveyard on the hill, and the Perkins Mathew's house. The perfect Victorian house surveying the town. Suddenly a huge spider mounts the crest of the hill beside the house, a spindly leg, and then creeps menacingly on top of the house
a hand gently reaches down out of the sky and lies, palm up, in the yard next to the house. The spider climbs into it. The man chuckles "Well, well, you're a big fella...!" The man picks up the now small spider off what is now revealed to be Hatchetfield as a miniature town, while The Spider and the hand are normal size. Above the model is a homely representation of the moon, sun, and stars a whole, tiny, mechanical universe to track the hours of the day. A large plat map of the city is prominent on the wall The hand is Paul Mathew's a man in his late 30s, he's a solid easy-going citizen.
Paul's model town sprawls across most of the attic space. The Windows on either end of the attic shed good light into the warm room. Paul very carefully lifts the spider out the open window. He Smiles as he drips him lightly on the breeze. looks out of the town his model an exact copy of the small island town. He walks back over to his model picking up some tweezers, a tiny sign into one of the tiny windows of the CCRP building on the main street. It reads: Paul and Emma are on holiday hooray!! Paul leans down and eyes the sign
He feels a tap on his shoulder, and he turns around to see the love of his life, his wife Emma "Paul you've been I'm this atic for hours are you even packed yet?" Say asks as she looks around the attack that is filled with old hobbies of there's and Paul's latest hobby the model of their island town. Paul nods and gives her a small forehead kiss "Yup, I’m all packed and ready to go! I’ve just got to drop some stuff off at work on the way to the airport." Emma nods as she looks around the attic again. She spots an old dusty crib....the crib that was meant for their child, but sadly that wasn't meant to be... Emma cannot have children and Paul cannot give her one either...so the crib stays up here gathering dust and rotting away. She shakes her head getting rid of the thought and looks up at her husband "Okay..let's go" They both smile and go downstairs.
Locking the front door they leave and get into their car, on the drive to the CCRP building. As they drive over a small bridge Emma looks at Paul who's currently in the passenger seat "I forgot to say your brother called again with...a new offer on our house" Paul rolls his eyes "Again? Why hasn't he given up by now? He's never going to-EMMA WATCH OUT!" Emma swerves to avoid hitting a dog the car flysheet over the bridge landing in the water below...the car sinks with the two lovers inside...
