Work Text:
The whole process took a couple of weeks (getting the approval of the council took even longer) but standing in front of the new school of Anti-Paris made it all worth it. Dark Owl planned to teach younger Akumas the same(ish) subjects as their counterparts but Zombizou was the one to get the short end of the stick.
She finishes writing her name on the board before turning around to face her class…and this is a terrible idea. Dark Owl wanted things to be as similar to their counterparts as possible but putting them in the same seats doesn’t seem to work as well as one would think.
In the front row is Bubbler sitting by himself with Anti-bug and Vanisher on the other side. Nothing to out there and each Akuma can see the board even though Bubbler has already turned around and gone about talking to Lady Wifi about something.
The second row has Lady Wifi behind Bubbler while Horrificator and Timebreaker are on the other. Already Dark Cupid can’t see the board but doesn’t seem to care since he already moved his seat to be next to Lady Wifi, joining in on their conversation. Timebreaker is taking a nap and class hasn’t even started.
Third row: Stoneheart.
The last row has Princess Fragrance and Reflekta talking about something while making notes in their books. Neither seem to care all that much about this and probably are just here because Lady Wifi asks them, which is why most of the Akumas in Zombizou’s class are here. Evillustrator’s seat is behind Stoneheart but she wouldn’t be surprised if he’s not here since Stoneheart blocks her view of him.
This is a terrible idea, why did Dark Owl want this?
“Eve, can you redraw this classroom?” Lady Wifi asks, hanging a piece of paper to Stoneheart to give to Evillustrator; who appears for a moment when Stoneheart moves before disappearing again.
Suddenly, the classroom changed to a flat room with one big table in the center of it. Each of the Akumas found their spot and set up their space. Surprisingly, not one Akuma is blocked by another and each of them can see the board without problems. At the end closest to Zombizou is a chair that’s meant for her, especially when Lady Wifi motions for her to take a seat.
“There’s a reason why our meeting room is designed the way that it is,” Lady Wifi said. “Anyways, what are learning first?”
“Well, I was thinking math just a simple test to see where everyone is at.”
…
Zombizou watches as her class breaks off into pieces on the first floor while watching from above.
The council naturally drifted to one another with Evillustrator being pulled along by Bubbler; none of this is surprising from what she had witnessed in class. Princess Fragrance and Anti-bug are watching Gamer play a game on his phone while Reflekta and Horrificator are standing close by, they seem to be going over the notes from class.
She gets why the council seems all for this now.
Other Akumas come out from their classes and go about mingling down below; new friends are made and old friends grow closer. Trading of notes, advice, and even conversation. If this is what the first day of school brings who knows what the rest of the year would bring.
Though Lady Wifi wanted to discuss hours and how long school will run for, that would be with Dark Owl at a later date.
This school still has many problems to sort through but with how willing so many Akumas are about this place, maybe it has a fighting chance after all. The council has more faith than Zombizou had that’s for sure.
…
The main issue after a few weeks is discipline and Zombizou still doesn’t know what to do.
Her class is one of the better behaved but they still have their moments like when the council decides to discuss something that’s not this class or Princess Fragrance gets into fights with Anti-bug even just with Vanisher not stating that she’s here or not. Evillustrator is also on that list but there’s not much Zombizou can do since the Akuma is doing work for Anti-Paris.
She can give them detention but it doesn’t work for the council since they still have a whole city to run at the end of the day, and the five would always fight her on giving detention to Evillustrator so she gave up on that.
It’s one of those days where her class isn’t listening and doing their own thing.
“Alright!” Zombizou slams her book down and points towards the door. “Everyone outside, right now!”
She merch them outside of the school and to the park across the road; there’s no one here since most are doing their own thing or at school. Save for Guitar Villain since he’s a teacher at the school and has been tasked with teaching the children Akumas; Sandboy, Puppeteer, and Christmaster.
She gives a wave before continuing leading her class to a spot on the other side of the park.
“It seems that today we can’t handle being in a classroom instead we’ll do something different.” Zombizou gestures to Evillustrator. “May I have a soccer ball?”
That’s got everyone’s attention, wondering where Zombizou is going with this.
Evillustrator quickly went about drawing a soccer ball and tossing it to Zombizou, who thanked him. She holds it up and points out what the two goalposts are going to be before getting to the actual meat of her plan.
“Every time someone makes a goal, they have to answer a question if they aren’t able then they can pick another teammate to answer.” This would get them thinking and work on team building as well. “I’ll be assigning teams because we all know that the council will just work together.” That’s got sheepish looks from those in question. “However, once the teams are set then you guys can figure out who is going to be your team captain.”
Once teams are assigned, the Akumas are quick to get into the game and suddenly they don’t feel like they are learning. Zombizou knows this isn’t going to fix all of their problems but it’ll work for now. She looks over to Guitar Villain, who has come to stand next to her while his class is cheering on the game.
“Not a bad idea,” Guitar Villain said. “Maybe we should start looking into clubs.”
“It’ll be slightly impossible to do a sports team or any team event since we’re the only school.” Sure, they can always make two teams but that’s not going to be fun in the long run that’s for sure. “I almost wish we had a way to Paris because maybe we can compete against their school.”
“Now, that’s a thought.” Guitar Villain suddenly whoops when Reflekta gets a goal. “That’s my girl! Did you see that? She gets it from her mom.”
Reflekta gives two big waves – throwing her answer to Robostus – before rejoining the game.
“Dark Owl wants to do a parent-teacher meeting,” Zombizou said. “I’m not quite sure how that’ll work.”
Some Akumas have parents, or those they consider parents, while others don’t have anyone but the family that they have made. Guitar Villain’s students are a few that are confusing; Puppeteer does have a mother but would bring Lady Wifi instead, Christmaster only has his brother, and Sandboy would probably bring Evillustrator and Reverser with him. A parent role just doesn’t work as well as one thinks it does here in Anti-Paris.
“Leave it up to them, they’ll know better than anyone who they want to bring.” Guitar Villain looks away from the game. “My kids would probably bring their mother over to me, mostly because I’m at the school all the time now compared to her. You just have to roll with it.”
“Easier said than done.”
Guitar Villain laughs while looking back at the game. “Please, if you keep getting hung up on who should be this to this Akuma, you won’t have time to do anything else.” And he’s not wrong.
Zombizou had witnessed the many different forms of families in Anti-Paris but it’s still hard to wrap one’s head around it. Getting worked up about it won’t solve anything and Guitar Villain isn’t wrong about just rolling with it.
“Who knew you would make a good teacher,” Zombizou said.
Guitar Villain laughs and agrees with her on that.
Anti-Paris is a strange place with many different Akumas but it's home and Zombizou can’t ask for anything more.
