They made the perfect picture of domestic tranquility; Usaida sat at the kitchen table, scrolling on his phone, and Saikawa standing at the sink, drying the breakfast dishes. It was one of those rare days when their days off synced up, and they were making the most of a lazy morning.
Usaida snorted at a meme on his phone, then turned to Saikawa.
"Hey, babe?"
"Hmm?"
"Why aren't koalas considered bears?"
"Because they're marsupials." Saikawa responded, not looking up from the sink.
Usaida frowned, upset that his joke had been ruined. He huffed quietly, and turned back to his phone.
"In other words," Saikawa suddenly spoke up again.
Usaida glanced up, to see his boyfriend smiling at him.
"They lack the necessary 'Koalifications'!"
Usaida stared at him, even as Saikawa turned back to the dishes.
Without a word, Usaida stood up from the table, coming to stand behind Saikawa, sliding his arms around the other man's waist, cuddling close and resting his chin on Saikawa's shoulder.
"I love you." Saikawa smiled. "I love you too."
