Work Text:
To say the least, Ena and Toya were starving. And not the good kind.
Rui had been the first to get rescued.
And then Honami found her way back, somehow the others couldn’t follow.
The next event would be MORE MORE JUMP! so both Toya and Ena had assumed it was Haruka’s time to go.
Haruka had also assumed it. She had stated how she’ll miss them both and hope for their focuses soon. The two waved her off and she walked on into the forest.
That's what Honami did so perhaps she would find it.
Haruka walked through the overgrown trees, bushes, and flowers. She was unsure of what she was looking for but she was sure she would know it when she saw it…
And that was the last time Ena and Toya saw Haruka for the remainder of the day.
It was awkward to say the least. The two were such an odd pairing to be left together.
“Never thought I’d be stranded on an island with my little brother's boyfriend” Ena sighed.
Toya furrowed his eyebrows. Boyfriend?! “What do you mean boyfriend?”
“Oh please, everyone can tell.” She scoffed.
Toya awkwardly stayed silent as he picked up the warm sand from under him and let it fall back down. Even if it was nighttime, the sand was still comfortingly warm.
Meanwhile, Ena got up and instead of sitting, she boredly kicked the sand around.
Honami’s event had just finished, meaning it was the period everyone hated. The two days in between events.
These two days were possibly the slowest in the system. They always dragged on for so long, when everyone just wanted to know who was next. If anyone was even next.
Ena looked over to Toya and noticed how rough he looked. Good lord. It's been too long and she can feel her own sanity slip away.
She was starting to get angry even if someone breathed in a way she did not like.
Sometimes hitting trees made her feel better but they wouldn't last long.
“Why the fuck are they torturing us this way?” She groaned.
Toya ran his sandy hand through his hair, not even caring that some fell in. “I don’t know, but I don't think I can take it anymore.”
“THIS ISLAND IS FUCKING HE—” Ena yelled before she was cut off by a loud buzzer sound and a “oof” sound.
Oh my God.
Was there a new person here?
Toya and Ena turned to the forest where the sound came from.
Ena walks over to where Toya was now standing and tries to look inside the forest, but the leaves on the trees were too overgrown to see much. “Please don’t let it be a new person here. I can’t take the positivity.”
“Let’s great them with- open arms.” Toya sounded tired as he tried to sound as nice and gentle for this mystery new person as much as he could.
The rustling became more and more.
Whoever was trying to get through was clearly struggling a lot.
Finally, the mysterious person had made it through the bushes. Toya and Ena’s eyes widened at who it was.
“HARUKA?!” The two said in unison.
And damn, did she look rough.
She was completely a mess, with dirt all over her and a couple of scratches.
“Hi…” She mumbled before her legs gave out and she fell onto the sand.
Toya helped her sit up and knelt in front of her. “Are you okay? What happened?” He asked.
“I found the door.” She said, quietly, blinking a couple of times to reorientate herself.
Ena raised an eyebrow. “The door? What door?”
“But— when I stepped through…There was no floor!” She rushed the last part out covering her face with her hands before realizing that her hands were covered in dirt so she pulled them away.
“No floor?” Toya asked.
“There was no floor behind the door?!” Ena asked, confuzzled.
“No floor behind the door!” Haruka confirms. “None at all.” She said, her voice trembling.
“Oh…So if you’re still here…then…” Toya mumbled. He looked confused.
The painfully familiar screen was projected into the sky.
It announced the group was MORE MORE JUMP! and Haruka could feel her heart skip a beat in excitement perhaps she had just left too early?
But when it showed what member was on the screen, her heart skipped a beat again, but not in a good way.
“M—Minori?” She whispered out.
“Oh, that’s fucked up,” Ena said sighing.
When Toya looked back at Haruka, she looked completely baffled. “They— It’s— huh?”
“This would be her…5th focus?” Toya muttered and swore he could hear Haruka’s lip tremble.
“I’m— so…proud of h-her…!” She said, tears threatening to well up in her eyes.
Toya and Ena looked at each other; neither of them could miss the way her voice trembled.
The two sit down on both sides of her. “There, there…” Toya says as he pats the top of her head and Ena places a hand on her shoulder.
“Maybe we will be stuck here forever…” Ena said.
Haruka sighs. “I think there's more fog around, maybe we’re being forgotten about?”
“Perchance,” Toya mumbled.
Ena turned to him “YOU CAN’T JUST SAY PERCHANCE!”
