Work Text:

“Pure vanilla, you cannot stop me!” Screamed White Lily at me. This again, she wanted to go explore. But this time she wants to go to the most dangerous continent, Beast Yeast.

“White lily, my queen, please I know you’re a free spirit but beast yeast? That’s too dangerous even for you…” I pleaded.
“Vani,” she took my hand “when did I ever not return from one of my adventures?”

I looked into her determined eyes and felt a sense of resignation wash over me. “Alright, White Lily. If you’re set on this, then I’ll go with you. But promise me, we’ll stay safe and watch out for each other.”

“No… the vanilla kingdom needs its king.”
“Vanilla kingdom needs its queen!” I screamed which made Lily feel uneasy.

“Look I’m sorry…” I tried apologizing but no use.
“Say goodbye to blue lily and clover for me, I’ll be off now.”

She left, I can’t believe she left…

All I could do was just stand there.

That was my last conversation with her…

As I entered the garden, the laughter of our children filled the air, momentarily lifting the heaviness in my heart. Blue Lily and Clover were playing together, their innocent smiles bringing a bittersweet warmth to my soul. Yet, with each passing day, the absence of their mother weighed heavily on all of us.
“Papa!” Screamed clover,
“Did mama send you a message?” Asked Blue Lily, seeing the letter in my hands.
“Yes actually!”

Me and lily finally started communicating through letters. she oddly didn’t want to disclose where she was, all that I knew was that she was in the beast yeast and doing fine.

Blue Lily and Clover eagerly gathered around as I read aloud the words penned by their mother. Despite the distance between us, her love and warmth shone through every line, bringing a sense of comfort to our hearts.

“She’s exploring Beast Yeast and having her adventures,” I explained, careful not to reveal too much of the danger she faced. “But she wants us to know that she’s safe and thinking of us always.”

If she had been thinking of us she would come back…

“PURE!” I heard someone saying my name.
That voice… that scent of addictive white lily, that couldn’t possibly be her…

“I’ve found this in our textbook, I think it would be perfect for a cookie! Hey, are you even listening?” This was her but in her student form.

My words took over,
“ I miss you so much… hope you know that.” I whisper.
“Why are you saying that? I haven’t seen you since the last break, are you ok?” She put her hand on my forehead… we stayed a few seconds like that.
“You don’t seem to have a fever.”

I stayed there, gosh I wanted to hug her… so much.
And that’s exactly what I did. I went to her and hugged her, tightly.

“Vanilla, are you sure you’re ok?” Lily said softly right at my ear.
“I miss you so much…”
Then she disappeared right in front of me…

“Your majesty…?” A butler came into my room, “You overslept this morning so I was told to bring you breakfast into your chambers.” He explained.

Oh, my divines I was so dense, I hadn’t just been woken up by the butler, I even woke up to me hugging my pillow.

A king hugging hardly a pillow with his wife’s scent.
Truly Pathetic…

I made my way through the palace corridors, the weight of my responsibilities as king pressing down on me, I forced myself to push aside the self-pity that threatened to consume me. White Lily may be gone, but our kingdom still relied on me to lead with strength and resolve, even in the face of my struggles.

Entering the grand hall, I found myself greeted by the bustling energy of the courtiers and advisors, all eager to seek my guidance on matters of state. With a heavy heart hidden behind a mask of regal composure, I took my seat, ready to face the challenges of the day.

But even as I attended to the affairs of the kingdom, my thoughts often drifted back to White Lily, wondering where she was and if she was safe. And though I may never have the answers I seek, I vowed to continue to honor her memory and fulfill my duty as king, for the sake of our kingdom and the legacy we had built together.

She stopped writing, and that made me stop as well. But I started writing poems for her.

I knew she had hated poems since she was a student, she would always say that they were too cheesy for her. But I’m the complete opposite I just can’t stop writing them.

I promise if you come back, I will not show them to you…

Holly Berry sent me and the others a letter, she said that a band of bad cookies that call themselves “cookies of darkness” ambushed some cookies going into the forest border between the Berry kingdom and Vanilla kingdom.

While all of this was happening, I of course was thinking of her. She was one with the forest, it didn’t matter if she was in that forest or not, she would never get lost.

That reminded me of how we met in the neighboring forest of the academy. It was love at first sight making me show her that abandoned library.

A few months later the impossible struck.
We were attacked.

“I promise I’ll come and get you two.” I tried to not cry in front of my kids. I had to send them away to a small village near our kingdom.

As I watched them leave with a guard, my heart ached with the weight of the responsibility I bore as their father and as the ruler of our kingdom. But I knew that to protect them, I had to temporarily separate myself from them, trusting that they would be safe in the care of the villagers until I could ensure a secure future for our family.

Hope she wouldn’t be mad if she find out…

“Healer cookie?” I heard the voice of a black raisin cookie calling for me.
“Oh Black Raisin, is anybody hurt?” I ask.
“No everyone is fine, but you… you seem quite sad today, is everything okay?” She asks, well I wasn’t for a few weeks I keep getting the same dream again and again.

The dream starts with someone who wakes up in the most prestigious bed ever, like a king's bed. Next to the person, there is a woman, she has long white hair and a scent so addicting I could drown in it.
The person then changes into the softest piece of fabric and then looks at himself in the mirror. That cookie has the same heterochromia eyes as me, one blue and the other yellow.
After his morning routine, he left the room, and I could hear a lot of “Your Majesty.” Or “Good morning your highness!” He’s supposed to be a king for some kingdom.
The next part of the dream is quite boring, all the things that the cookie does is paperwork.
But then…he gets teleported or something into some sort of jungle where the white-haired cookie lying there with strawberry jam all over her.

“Pure vanilla cookie… you promised you’d protect me…” After that line, she ends up taking her last breath… I’ve failed my duty as a healer, she died right in front of me…

“Healer cookie?” Waves black raisin at me.
“Oh sorry, let’s go eat with the others…” I’ve spoken.

Then a voice, a familiar voice whispers to me.
“Remember… remember who you are…”

Every day was the same. Black raisins and a few other cookies go hunting for food in the upper kingdom. If they’re injured I heal them. I have a daily lecture with the kids. In the end, we all eat. And then I go sleeping and have that damn dream.

Yet, what troubled me most was the inexplicable connection I felt to this king as if his memories and experiences were somehow intertwined with my own. Each night, as I wandered through the corridors of his past, I couldn’t shake the feeling of being called by a familiar voice.
Every dream I have with this supposed king a new part of the story drops.

But why am I him in every single dream?
Why do I hear whispers everywhere I go…?

“Healer cookie, is it really that bad?” One of the fellow villagers asked me.
“Not, just a bit of strawberry gam cracking from your dough, but nothing I cannot fix right?” I managed to make a joke.

After healing all the cookies I hear a scream, a playful one.
“GOT YA!” I recognized that voice, it was a black raisin. But oddly enough she didn’t scream like she was fighting with a waffle bot.
After that, I hear other villagers screaming as well.
“Surround them! Surround them!”

Why were they screaming? As I walked out of the camp I saw the villagers and some other cookies.
“It’s gonna take more than that to stop us!” A pepper-looking cookie said.
“ENOUGH!” I shout irritated. The other looked at me even one of the villagers whispered one of my nicknames. “My patients need quiet. Please don’t disturb their rest.” I calmly say.

After a bit of talking, I learned that those unrecognizable cookies are looking for the vanilla kingdom. They said that it wasn’t supposed to be far from here.

Then I started again my daydreaming. But this time it was one voice similar to mine.

“YES you can finally hear me, do you recognize me?” The voice spoke.
I remember from one of those strange dreams that a voice identical to mine is my mind or…
“You’re the light of truth are you not? As well me?” I said in a small voice the last sentence. Maybe I was related to this pure vanilla cookie.

“Yes… YES! You can finally recognize me!” The voice continued.
“You have turned your back on me for so long, but I've always been here for you, waiting.”
I stayed silent trying to proceed with all of the information.
“And? What about now?” I ask.
“Are you ready to embrace me, and unite with me once again?”

A few hours later we went to where the waffle bots originate from. The upper kingdom or originally vanilla kingdom. We finally entered the castle and we met with dark enchantress Cookie.
There a hound takes us to a big dining table, there being the whole family of darkness.
“Do you know why cookies are created?” Dark enchantresses asked an unreadable face all over her.
All of us questioned her. Nobody could ever have wondered why cookies are created except… her.

I needed to do something, something fast… what if I showed myself in front of her? If she is who I think she is, then maybe I could stop her. And that’s exactly what I did…

“YOU!” She exclaimed, now everyone could read her face. “Why are you here? You’re supposed to be dead, you hear me? DEAD!” Everyone is shocked, even I am shocked. If my suspicions are true, why would she yell that?

“I am here to confront you. We started this war. It only makes sense that we end it.” The war wasn’t over if I think about it.
“HA HA HA HA!” Her laughter was heard throughout the whole dining room. “You have nothing but senseless courage! How amusing.”

After that so-called “fight” we were escorted out of the room… never to see her again, until…

Around an hour later, after I take the other through a privet tour of the castle we end up in front of the garden. The lily garden…

I remember correctly, the day I asked Lily to be my wife and a queen for the kingdom… I’ve spent months planning to build a garden full of white lilies and vanilla orchids. She was shocked at first, not just when she saw the garden but when I asked her the big question as well.

I didn’t realize how much time I was taking just standing in the ground of the garden. But then I see someone. A silhouette to be exact. The figure had some long white braids, it was dressed in a long green dress.
My breath cut, it was her, and my eyes almost started tearing. She was right in front of me. While I was into another mentality, forgetting my past self she was here just waiting. I could hear ginger brave excitedly saying “White lily cookie!” And then Wizard Cookie whispers something into Ginger braves ear.

We all started running towards her, she was right there I could take her in my arms and never let her go. But before I could get close enough to touch her delicate skin she transformed, now she had horns on her head, and her delicate green dress transformed into a red and black one.

My suspicions were right, she was the one that started all of this, what could go wrong to get her to transform into this.

Everything was happening so fast for everyone, except me. I started recalling all my favorite memories of us.

“White lily cookie…?” That’s all my mouth could spit out.
“DO NOT BRING HER USSLES NAME IN FRONT OF ME, I’m not her anymore. Now you can call me dark enchantress cookie.”

My head was spinning, if only I stopped her that night…

I have to fight her, I just have to…

“Thank you my friends for coming such a long way to the vanilla kingdom, let’s meet again!” I tried smiling, but I knew no one was happy, after the almost murder of the great counsel of the cream republic no one was happy. It was awkward, not just because of the slaughter, but of taking our soul game away as well.

“No problem Pure Vanilla, I’m sure we’ll see each other again in a bit, not just us 3 but Golden Cheese as well as,” then she stopped mid-sentence, we all knew she wanted to say White Lily… but she couldn’t.

“Thank you, Holly Berry. Safe travels, you Dark cacao as well,” I replied, trying to maintain a sense of composure despite the turmoil raging within me.

As the other cookies departed, leaving me alone once again in the empty halls of the vanilla kingdom, I couldn’t shake the feeling of despair that threatened to consume me. White Lily, my queen, transformed into the dark enchantress cookie and was now a threat not only to our kingdom but to the entire earthbread.

I knew what I had to do. I had to confront her, to try and reach the part of her that was still the White Lily I loved. But deep down, I feared that she was lost to me forever.

The next thing I know is black raisin cookie, standing right in front of my door. she now lives in the vanilla kingdom as…, I actually don’t know . I mean she opened her inn letting travelers stay the night, but somehow she still roams around the castle halls without a single worry.

“Finally you woke up,” Black Raisin Cookie said, her voice filled with concern as she approached me. “You’ve been lost in thought for quite some time. Is everything alright?”

I shook my head, trying to clear the fog that clouded my mind. “I’m sorry, Black Raisin. I’ve just been… grappling with some difficult memories.”

She nodded understandingly, her eyes filled with empathy. “I can only imagine what you’re going through, Pure Vanilla. But remember, you’re not alone. We’re all here for you, every step of the way.”

Her words were a comfort to me, a reminder that even in the darkest of times, there were still friends who stood by my side. With a heavy heart, I forced myself to push aside my inner turmoil and focus on the task at hand.

“Thank you, Black Raisin,” I said, offering her a small smile. “I appreciate your kindness and support. Now, let’s continue our duties and face whatever challenges come our way together.”

The next day is just piled over piles of work, something I’m familiar with. Except in the past, after I’m done with my work I go up to white Lily’s study. I remember how I used to convince her to leave her work for the night and go to sleep. Sometimes I would just have to tell her and she would accept. But other times I need to do the funniest little activities to make her go.

You know what they say, old habits die hard…

After I’m done I go to white lily’s study room, which is in the far corner of the library.
The room is exactly how I remember. A couch with a blanket wrapped around it. Books scattered around the whole room. It could be on the floor, on the never-ending shelves on her table. But the most alarming thing about the room is the fragrance, the never-ending toxic smell of lilies.

I remember back as a student when people would ask me how didn’t feel like I was losing my breath when I was around her. I’d always say that I love her smell and that feeling never accord to me, well I do, I always feel like dying when I smell her intoxicating scent. But I cannot help but love it.

Almost all the things I do have a purpose, but not this one. I lay down on the hard floor and just fell asleep.

The thing I would do to hold you in my arms again…

Present time…

The single thing I could do is just stand there.

I couldn’t process what was happening, she was there, she’s supposed to be real. But I couldn’t believe it, I was tricked so many times, I couldn’t believe it…
Then a scent suddenly came into my nostrils. That smell was so toxic. It was like a drug, I once smell it I became obsessed.

The others ran to her, she was awake. But I just stud there.
I don’t know what I was trying to do, was I suppose to be happy, was I suppose to be furious? I didn’t know.

A few minutes later everyone calmed down, then we finally made eye contact. Her ruby eyes, ohh her ruby eyes, they looked exactly like Dark enchantress eyes—but calmer.
In the dark enchantress's eyes, you could see her thirst for strawberry jam, but white lilies were almost teary. I knew she didn’t want to cry, she always has those eyes, I can perfectly tell when she would cry or not.

“Pure Vanilla cookie…?” She stares at me, now wanting to cry.
“White Lily cookie…” I whisper, loud enough just to hear me.
She steps forward towards me.
At that moment it was only us, at least from my perspective.
“Look, you were right,” I could see a tear running from the corner of her eye. “ I shouldn’t have come here just for a stupid question, I’ve learned things I shouldn’t have…” she says in a breath.
Now two tears were coming from her eyes. I took my finger to wipe them off.
She takes her hand and intervenes with mine.
Now she starts crying harder, in front of everyone. I didn’t know she was capable of this. She always hated attention.
I remember always having her hand in mine just for her to feel safe from every other cookie looking at her. It didn’t matter what age we were, students, teens, or even adults she hatted attention.

Without hesitation, I pulled her into my arms, holding her tightly as if afraid she would disappear once again. “It’s alright, White Lily,” I whispered, my voice filled with both relief and sorrow. “You’re here now, and that’s all that matters.”

She clung to me, her tears soaking into my shoulder as she trembled with emotion.

“I’m sorry,” she whispered, her voice barely audible above the beating of our hearts. “I never should have left you, never should have put earth bread in danger.”

I pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead, my heart aching at the pain and regret in her words. “Shh, it’s alright,” I murmured, my fingers tracing soothing circles on her back. “We’ll face whatever challenges come our way together, just like we always have,” I whisper back.

This is the most recent conversation I had with her…
