Work Text:
It’s already been a week since the fight with the heavens. Everyone was inside sorting new and old furniture around the freshly built hotel. Lucifer walks up to Charlie with a warm smile, “Charlie, how are you holding up?”
Charlie looks down at her dad and smiles, “I think we’re almost finished with bringing in the new lights.”
Lucifer hums, “Anything I can do to help?”
Shaking her head, “You did a lot already! How about you go to the bar and talk with Husk and Angel? I’m sure they’d appreciate your company!”
Lucifer nods, “Alright then, I’ll see you in a bit. Have fun, sweetie!”
Originally, he offered help to initiate small talk with his daughter, but a drink doesn’t sound that bad... He walks to the bar and pulls a seat near Angel out.
“Hey, short king. Lookin’ for a refresher?”
Lucifer seats himself on the stool, “Yeah. Can I get something light?”
Husk nods, “Sure.”
Lucifer watches as Husk grabs a bottle and glass. His attention shifts to Angel, “How are you?”
Angel glances at him before looking back down at his drink. He moves his cup around, watching the drink swish around, “To be honest, not that good.”
Lucifer raises an eyebrow, “Tell me about it.”
Angel places his cup down, “Well, Val called me in earlier for some bullshit film.”
A drink gets slid over to Lucifer from Husk. He thanks him and grabs his cup, “Who’s Val?”
He sips his drink and notices the sweet pinch to it. Angel scoffs, “Valentino. That son of a bitch is so damn annoying!”
Lucifer continues to stare at Angel confused, “Valentino... The overlord?”
Angel tilts his head in confusion, “Yes? He’s like, one of the most recognizable people since he’s such an asshole!”
Lucifer hums, “Can’t you just... Quit your job if you hate it that much?”
Angel laughs at that, “I wish! I’m under a contract with him, so I can’t do shit.”
The mood around the bar dulls. Angel was seemingly uncomfortable and Husk frowning. Lucifer taps his cup, “So you hate the Valentino guy, and work under him, and you wanna quit your job with him,”
Angel nods. Lucifer continues, “But you’re under contract so you can’t.”
“Basically, sometimes—no all the time I wish that damn contract can be shredded to pieces!” Angel throws his arms in the air.
Lucifer straightens his back, “Can I see the contract?”
Angel rests his head in his hands, “I guess.”
He reaches one of his arms around him and pulls out a golden paper. He tosses it to Lucifer, who catches it and unrolls it. He glances over the paper, “So, this contract has no benefits for you?”
Angel shakes his head, “None. Which is absolutely stupid—!”
Angel pauses in the middle of his sentence when he hears a paper rip. He looks at Lucifer, who holds his contract ripped in half. Lucifer stares at the paper and tosses it onto the table. Angel stared at the other in shock, even Husk paused what he was doing.
Suddenly, a chain forms around Angel’s neck, and it shatters into pieces. Silence surrounds the place. Lucifer clicks his tongue and grabs his cup to down his drink.
The silence spreads until Angel starts blabbering, “What the fuck. Did you just— Hold on, what!?”
Lucifer looks at Angel innocently, “What?”
“You just broke his contract?” Husk comments.
Lucifer nods. Angel scoffs, “So the contract is actually broken? Like, it’s not intact anymore..?”
Lucifer nods again, “Is that surprising? I’m the king of hell, I can do whatever the fuck I want.”
He crosses his legs, “I can do a lot. Like if I’m thinking of Valentino and I snap my fingers—.”
Lucifer snaps his fingers unconsciously, “Like this then he’d disappear... Oh shit.”
Angel stares at the other, trying to find the words to say. Slowly, Husk scoots himself closer to Lucifer, “Can you do the same with me?”
Lucifer glances at Husk, “Yeah sure. Who has you under contract?”
“Alastor.”
“Oh hell yeah, give me that damn paper!”
