Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

Inarizaki and Itachiyama were two kingdoms that at best tolerated each other. During the Dark Ages of Faery and Witchcraft, they had very different ways of approaching the chaos of the century. Inarizaki aimed to create peace between the fae and the humans while Itachiyama persecuted thousands of fae.

When the fae attacked Inarizaki after years of peace Itachiyama was the only Kingdom that came to its aid; making the kingdoms allies during the 40-year war. King Torakichi of Inarizaki decided that making peace with Fae was impossible and moved forward with King Kamekichi of Itachiyama to wipe out all of the Faery and Witches that had used their magic to hurt the human race. History paints them as heroes, but they went beyond executing the evil fae. They wiped out the fae completely.

At least that’s what they believe.

A hundred years have passed and their successors have tried their best to put the world back together bit by bit. Inarizaki and Itachiyama began to differ once more only this time in rebuilding the nations and lands. Inarizaki wanted to focus on rebuilding all the nature that had been destroyed during the war while Itachiyama wanted to focus on rebuilding their kingdom to its former glory. It was safe to say that even fighting a war together could not bring these two kingdoms together.

In Inarizaki, two princes were born, which was already an auspicious occasion for the country, but also the younger of the twins had been born with the blessing of Hinode. He had light golden hair that shined in the sun. This blessing had only been seen twice before. The kingdom accepted him as a gift from the Gods.

The people of Itachiyama had heard of the son of Sun and also began to join in on the celebrations the people of Inarizaki were throwing in honor of the prince's birth. Seeing how the birth of this child had brought their people together King Shintarō of Itachiyama proposed that his eldest son Kiyoomi Sakusa marry Atsumu Miya the son of Sun. King Manhachi and Queen Kiku were opposed to the idea at first, but with the need for a strong ally with good trade roots, they agreed…under one condition. Every June until Atsumu turned eighteen the boys would spend the month together. King Shintarō agreed, but said they should wait until Atsumu was older before the couple met each other.

Kiyoomi was several years older than Atsumu, so the two families decided to wait until Miya was ten and Sakusa twelve before introducing them. And well it did not go as they expected.
