to readers here is your fluff are you happy now lmao <3 I wanted to try more of a focus on banter if that makes sense, so if it's not as emotionally in-depth as some of my other works that's why haha

thank you to halcyonyellow for betaing (and teaching me how snow works any inaccuracies please chalk it up to Chan being delusional and Felix being Snow White personified please and thank you)

Work Text:

“Chris, over here!”

Chan raises his head just enough to see out from under his hood, ignoring how the wind whips at his exposed face. It’s December, bitterly cold, but a welcome contrast to the warmth of his studio that sometimes felt stuffy. Don’t get him wrong, he adores his studio and his work, but it’s December… definitely needs a break.

Felix beams at him in a windowseat, cheeks tinged pink from the cold as he waves a fluffy sleeve. Despite already knowing Felix for years, Chan can feel his cheeks grow warm at just how hopelessly adorable Felix is. The blonde male is decked in Christmas colors, looking like a walking marshmallow with his fluffy white hat that seemed to be a trend nowadays. Not that Chan would know. All he wears is black and he’s comfortable with that.

Felix, though, he liked to be fashionable and keep up with the latest trends, but today, except for the hat, he’s dressed pretty inconspicuously - green, grey, and white. It makes sense, after all.

They’re not supposed to be in a cafe. As a couple .

Maybe on a brodate, but what if Felix wants to hold his hand? Chan didn’t want to imagine what would happen if someone took pictures. His manager would kill him, then revive him to brutally kill him again.

That’s part of the reason why he hadn’t tried to make a move on Felix earlier, but also because he really loves Felix so much. Too much to consider risking their friendship. He supposes three years is a pretty long time to realize he’s in love with his best friend… and Felix thought so too apparently.

“Why did Sana noona just text me a number?”

Chan stares at his screen in disbelief, where his chat with Sana is open, displaying a string of numbers and a winky face that is only the tiniest bit intimidating.

Jisung leans over, squinting at the screen, before he shrugs. Chan knows his kid enough to see a flicker of something pass over his expression before Jisung schools it away. “She wants you to get laid,” he says matter-of-factly.

Chan splutters at that, and even Changbin starts cackling at where he’s sprawled over the couch. “Why would she want me to get- get laid?”

“Because you’re a hermit, hyung,” Changbin snorts, wriggling closer. “You’re basically a virgin.”

Chan flushes red. He might not be big on the dating scene, but he’s most definitely not a virgin. Besides, Chan’s a hopeless romantic at heart anyway, not one for hookups and one night stands. “I’m not a virgin, what the hell?”

“Doesn’t matter, are you gonna do it?” Jisung waves a dismissive hand, like talking about who Chan fucks is just another late night conversation. If he’s honest, it might as well be. The three of them talk about weird things all the time, even if it’s things Chan one hundred percent doesn’t need to hear about, especially not about things like how ATEEZ’s Wooyoung has a moon tattoo on the small of his back.

Chan frowns though, glancing down at his phone again. Sana had sent another text: she’s fine if you say no! Just wanted to shoot her shot :)

No, he doesn’t think he’ll take her offer up, and he tells Jisung and Changbin so.

“Why not? Noona has good taste in women,” Changbin asks curiously. He’s looking at Chan with an expression that says he knows something Chan doesn’t, and it makes him a little squirmy.

“Because he’s in love with Felix,” Jisung answers for him, and Chan makes a strangled, very undignified noise. Very much not like him.

“What?” His voice is very unmanly, pitched high. “I’m not in love with Felix, that’d be stupid-”

Both Jisung and Changbin fix him with an unimpressed look and what is this, bully Bang Chan day? Changbin hums, clearly not believing him, and Jisung rolls his eyes, even. Ungrateful brat. No way to act like this to the person who raised you.

“Yah!’ he chokes out. "I'm not in love with Felix!"

"Here we go again," Jisung mutters, pointedly turning his head back to his phone. *Even Sana noona thinks you need to fuck him out of your system."

"I didn't raise you like this," Chan protests, pointing an accusing finger at Jisung.

"No," Jisung agrees, all teeth, and Chan almost wants to strangle him. But he'd like to keep his face as it is, so he doesn't. "You didn't raise me at all."

"The disrespect!"

"With all due respect," Changbin drawls, saying it in what possibly is the most disrespectful tone ever, "You are in love with Felix."

Chan drops his head into his hands, exhaling through his teeth. Why does he love his kids so much again?

"I'm not in love with Felix, he's my best friend. Besides, I'm sure Felix has other interests."

"Not the best friend crap again-" Jisung exclaims, "Please, even Hyunjin knows and he's blind as fuck to feelings."

“Exactly, so why are we trusting his judgement?”

“Because he's right!” Jisung cries. “It would be so great if you'd stop making goo-goo eyes at Lix.”

“I do not make goo-goo eyes .”

“You're a simp, that's what you are,” Changbin cuts in. “You two are horribly in love.”

“Okay, Mr. I'm-in-love-with-Wooyoung-and-has-to-announce-our-sex-life-to-the-world.”

Chan yelps and ducks when Changbin aims a cushion at his head. “At least I get laid!”

“So you're not in love with Felix.” Jisung raises an eyebrow when Changbin huffs and relaxes.

Of course he's in love with Felix, but he's not going to say it to their faces.

“I'm not in love with Felix,” Chan confirms.

“So if he asked you on a date, you'd say no.”

"No- wait, I mean yes, I mean-"

At that exact moment, his phone buzzes merrily with that jingle he set for Felix's messages, and Felix's messages only (because how else would he know when his little Aussie brother needs him asap?) as if to taunt and tease him too.

Chan would have ignored it, but Jisung says "It's the Felix alarm." and his eyes grow wide.

He splutters again, but Jisung only cackles loudly. "What do you mean the-" the name is so ridiculous but Chan can't even say he's wrong. "The Felix alarm ?"

Jisung shrugs. “I'm not wrong.”

Fuck .

“Answer it!” The two of them chorus, scarily in sync, and Chan side eyes before checking his phone. Hey, he's curious too.

Lix: so r u acepting her offer

Chris: How do you even know about that?

Lix: i know a lot of things :)

Jisung is staring expectantly at him, so Chan has a very good idea of who told Felix. That little shit.

Chris: But no, I’m not really looking for anything right now.

Lix: oh.

Lix: so if i asked u out ud say no

The sound Chan makes has Jisung and Changbin wheezing so hard that literal tears rolls down Jisung’s face and Changbin collapses onto the ground, howling with laughter.

That's how he ends up here, seated across Felix in a coffee shop. Felix has his hands wrapped around a cup of hot chocolate, his cheeks tinged pink with the cold. He looks hopelessly adorable as he brings the cup to his face, inhaling the warm aroma.

He looks so cute, all bundled up like this. He understands why Stay are always freaking out over Felix when he posts. He looks so photogenic even now, a Polaroid in real life.

Chan feels the sappy-ass grin on his face, but can’t be bothered to wipe it away like he might usually have because Felix would see. This time, he’s perfectly fine with Felix seeing. He's had years to hide his stupid lovestruck grins. Chan sips his own chocolate, savouring the warm taste on his tongue.

Felix's eyes dart up to him, back to his drink, and up again. His cheeks get redder, if that's even possible.

“So…” Felix starts, awkward in the way they usually never are. To be fair, they've never been on a date before.

“So,” Chan repeats. He racks his brain for something to say. What do you say on first dates? “The weather is nice today.”

Stupid, stupid Chris . It's not his fault Felix makes his brain fizz out of existence.

“Um, I guess it is.” Felix thankfully accepts, looking past Chan's dumbassery. If Jisung or Changbin were here, they'd probably be laughing their asses off at how weird the entire situation is. Chan does a quick scan of his surroundings, just in case. With his members, you can never be too sure. He'd chaperoned Seungmin snapping pics of a Minho and Jisung date once, purely for safety reasons of course.

Chan clears his throat and tries again. “So how did you know Sana texted me?”

At that, Felix laughs, his eyes crinkling around the corners. Chan’s glad he doesnt let the initial awkwardness stay long. “I thought it was obvious! Take a guess.”

“Jisung texted you,” Chan sighs, suspicions confirmed. “Man, that traitor.”

“We wouldn't be having this conversation if he didn't though,” Felix points out, unfortunately all too accurate. “And hey- I didn't pine over you for literal years to have some random girl be your first girlfriend since we debuted!” He pushes his lips into a pout, but for the first time in a while, Chan can't tell if it's faux or not.

“First, I trust noona's judgement. But second, what do you mean years? ”

Felix goes pinker than humanly possible, hiding his face behind his cup and busying himself with drinking. Chan squints at him while he waits for his answer, but when Felix does reply, it's quick and so jumbled Chan can hardly make sense of it. “I’vehadacrushonyousinceijoinedjyp.”

“What”

“I've liked you since I joined JYP, you dumbass,” Felix whines, covering his face in embarrassment. He has to set the cup down, but he hides his face into his hands at Chans dumbfounded expression.

“Oh my god,” Chan says.

Felix has liked him since he joined JYP? Felix has liked him for over five years?

“Don't make fun of me!” Felix whines again, “You were so strong and big and experienced and-” he cuts him off when he realizes he's rambling, his ears reddening. Chan snickers, all too amused. He thought he was the only one pining! They're such idiots.

“You're laughing.” Felix pouts at him, and Chan tries to school his expression into one of stoic calm, only to have to clamp his hand over his mouth when Felix pouts harder. His mirth filled eyes meets Felix's flustered ones.

“Hey, is it really that funny?” Felix starts to sound a little upset, and Chan immediately stops.

“Wait, wait, I'm not laughing at you!” Chan quickly clears up. Felix's mouth makes a little ‘o’ but he looks happier already, which makes Chan's heart relax.

“Then what were you laughing at?”

“I've had a crush on you since we debuted,” Chan admits, feeling his own ears heat up. Felix mouths oh . “How did we not notice?”

“You're a workaholic who's in love with his laptop?” Felix offers.

“ Yah! ”

Despite the initial awkwardness that is just Chan being an idiot in love with Felix and someone who's never dated seriously before (Hey, listen , he's a romantic and he's never found the one. Besides, he's liked Felix 60% of his entire lifespan, which makes dates awkward when he accidentally talks too much about the pixie-like boy who’s from Australia just like him he is so sweet I think you’d like him too- ), the rest of their date goes smoothly once Felix complains about “Chris, stop making this awkward! Just pretend it's one of our hangouts!”

Nobody appreciates his dad jokes or pick up lines (like your sweater looks like it's made of boyfriend material is peak literature), but since it's Felix, he gets a free pass.

And Chan wants to kiss him. He's waited years. But watching Felix ramble about everything and nothing like usual is very endearing. He remembers all the times he's stared at Felix like this, hearts in his eyes on and off camera.

But he doesn't kiss him. It just doesn't feel like the time. Or maybe it's because he'd have to lean over the entire table and there are drinks and food barricading his path.

Instead, he busies himself with a croissant and listens to Felix's enthusiastic tirade on unicorns and Vegemite.

Even if he wasn't distracted by Felix, he doubts he could even understand what's he's so passionately rambling about. Unicorns, really? He's not asking.

Unfortunately, time passes too fast, and Chan has to interrupt Felix in the middle of his tea-spilling. What the two Seungmins did last week will have to wait.

“It's getting late,” he remarks, the sky turning pink outside. “We should get home before dinner or Minho will kill us.”

“Kill you , more like. Lino hyung loves me,” Felix quips, a smug grin on his face.

Chan rolls his eyes, but Felix's right. Minho has a soft spot for Felix that's probably the size of Asia.

Felix wipes a fake tear. “I'd miss you,” he adds.

“You'll miss my money, more like,” Chan retorts.

Felix flutters his eyelashes at him. “My rich sugar daddy,” he says sweetly, before he breaks into laughter. “You're the one who said you'd buy us a house!”

Damn, Felix's right. That doesn't mean he's a sugar daddy though, and he tells Felix so.

Felix fixes with a look, amused. “You're going to fight for the bill,” he predicts, and he's right again. There's no way Chan would let Felix pay. If Chan could, he'd do everything so Felix wouldn't have to lift a finger.

“Fine,” Chan grumbles, ceding.

He does end up paying, because of course he does. and Felix grins widely the whole time, hanging off Chan's arm.

“If we did date,” Felix starts once they're heading down the street home. “Nothing would really change, would it?”

“Not unless you wanted it to,” Chan says, shrugging as best as he can with Felix wrapped around his arm.

“So…”

“Boyfriends?” Chan suggests at the same time Felix says “Are we dating?”

Felix bursts into giggles. “Yeah. Yes, let's.”

Chan turns his head to look at Felix fondly, like he's a cute kitten. Hm. Boyfriend. His boyfriend Felix. It sounds nice. Trainee Chan would have never believed it.

Felix's face scrunches cutely when he sneezes, and Chan realizes he doesn't have a scarf. Damn fashionistas. Why do they sacrifice their health to look pretty? Felix would look pretty even if he wore a trash bag or something. (Chan's not a simp, thank you very much. Stay agrees with him. But they're also very delulu, so- still not a simp!)

Chan touches his own scarf. “Do you-”

“Wait, wait, look!” Felix halts, interrupting Chan and dragging him along. Chan looks at him, bemused at the elated expression on his face as Felix stares up into the sky.

“What am I supposed to be looking at, Lixie?” He follows Felix's gaze anyway, predictably into the clear cloudy sky.

“It's snowing !”

“It's not,” Chan laughs, “I know you want it to snow, but-”

Just as he says that, a snowflake flutters from the sky to land on Felix's nose like a butterfly, a scene straight from a Disney movie. Felix yelps, but triumphantly turns to face Chan, snowflake perfectly balanced on his face.

“Snow,” he says firmly even as it begins to dissolve into the wind, sounding so cute Chan can't help but implode. Externally, he shakes his head as snow starts to fall around them, slowly painting the city in a blanket of white.

“You're right, you're right,” he concedes, “It's snowing.”

Felix shivers, but he's giggling. “I love snow,” he says absentmindedly, to himself or to Chan, Chan can't tell.

Felix holds a hand out to try and catch snow in his hands. Chan stares at him even as Felix tugs his hand out from his, in an attempt to gather more.

Chan's so busy falling in love with Felix’s more childish mannerisms, his innocence and enthusiasm, and his ability to appreciate the tiniest things that he doesn't realize when Felix darts to him to shove his hand down his shirt.

The undignified screech he lets out makes him glad nobody knows who he is here, because man, his reputation.

He whips around, intent on revenge, but Felix blinks at him cutely, amping up the boba eyes, and Chan is a fucking goner.

“Sorry,” Felix says sweetly, batting his eyelashes. “My hands were cold.”

“You have gloves,” Chan grumbles.

Felix bats his eyes harder. “But you're warmer.”

“Cheesy bitch. “ Chan fires back, but accepts Felix's hand, attempting to warm it between his own.

“Hey! You're the sappy one!”

“Prove it,” Chan challenges, even as they start to make their way home. It's a bit of a trek from the dorms, but Hyunjin swore up and down that it's the cutest café he'd visited. Of course, it's faster (and more convenient) to take a car, but neither of them are in much of a hurry to get home and face the rapid-fire questions of how did your date go ?

They talk about everything and nothing. About Felix and Chan and Chris and Yongbok and everything in between. It's fun. It's lovely. It's everything Chan had ever wanted in a partner. Thank the stars for giving him his sunshine, he'd always thought. Now he thanks the stars for giving him his boyfriend, and the thought lingers in his mind as he enjoys the scenery with Felix like a cheesy kdrama couple walking in the falling snow.

Halfway through, Felix pauses. “Wait. Hold on. My laces are untied.”

Chan nods and lets go of his hand, allowing him to kneel down and retie them. He absent-mindedly looks around, humming one of the newer songs 3RACHA are working on. It reminds him of Felix, with the softer melody. Damn, maybe he really is a simp.

Then he glances at Felix, yet again, for the nth time. Except this time, he realizes that Felix's shoes do not have fucking laces. He knows these don't because Felix had been prattling about this exact pair and how he doesn't have to waste time lacing then anymore.

“Wait-”

Instantly, Felix yeets the snow he's collected into his face.

Chan splutters, ever so thankful for his scarf from preventing him eating snow. How the heck did Felix trick him a second time? God, he needs someone to smack him to his senses. (Preferably Hyunjin. None of the other options are safe.) “Ya!”

Felix cackles, darting away when Chan tries to grab him. Chan wipes his face, feeling snow drip into his clothes. Felix by now is a good distance away, where the snow is beginning to gather in the park, scooping snow into balls. Oh no , he will not.

Chan sprints over, aiming to either tackle Felix or something to stop him from throwing snow into his face, because he will not be eating any more snow today, thank you very much. He manages to hit Felix, tumbling them to the floor. Felix squeals, and Chan doesn’t get a chance to turn his head away before Felix smashes his tiny handful of snow straight into his face.

Chan splutters again, feeling icy cold snow sneak their way down his scarf into his mouth, he doesn't let go of Felix though, pinning his body to the ground with his own.

Chan shakes his head like a wet dog, making Felix squeal again when melted snow splatters into his face.

“You're such a brat,” Chan growls playfully, yanking his scarf down so he can spit some of the water out to the side.

Felix's eyes twinkle with mischief. “You love me.”

“Remind me why again?” Chan sighs, fake exasperation written into his tone. Felix’s eyes light up, and he pouts cutely before he starts to list things off.

“Because I'm cute and pretty and nice and-”

Felix keeps prattling on, each adjective more ludicrous that the last, because why is kissable one of them? Even though Felix does look kissable, bathed in pink from head to toe. Chan stares a little too long at his plush pink lips, saying the most ridiculous things he’s ever heard, and he thinks to himself.

Fuck it.

He kisses Felix, effectively shutting him up when Felix gasps, surprised. It's equally stupidly romantic and idiotic at the same time - two world-famous idols kissing on the grassy floor like horny teenagers while falling snow brackets their figures. Chan can’t tell if it's a scene from a fairytale or a crack fanfiction. Felix tastes like chocolate and honey and fondness, and he will never be able to get enough.

Unfortunately, oxygen is still very much a thing, so he regretfully detaches from his newfound obsession.

“Wow,” Felix says, a little drunkenly, his eyes dazed and his smile crooked. “You’re a better kisser than Hyunjin.”

“Wow,” Chan echoes, deadpan. “That’s the first thing you say? And when did you kiss Hyunjin?” He can’t even be offended. This is just how Stray Kids works, and he’s used to stupid things like this happening, or more likely, stupid things coming out the mouths of the 00 liners.

“During debut. And he was really good!” Felix tries to defend himself.

“Better than me?”

“I already told you you’re better. You just want your ego stroked.” Felix sticks his tongue out.

“Why do I love you again?”

“ Well -”

Chan kisses him again.

(Minho scolds them for tracking water all over the dorm floors when they finally stumble back, giggling like a bunch of teenagers, but Chan’s too drunk in love to honestly care. No more pining for him - take that Jisung and Changbin!)
